  1. Anyone read Corey Tayloy's 'Seven Deadly Sins' autobiography? I'm about 60 pages in and starting to struggle. The stories are decent but stuck in between all of his philosophising which at first was quirky and interesting but is becoming annoying. I'm finding myself wishing he'd just get to the point.

  2. The Brock Lesnar sit down promo was absolutely brilliant. He is genuinely scary sometimes. I'm probably being delusional but I have a feeling he may retain against Reigns...

Other than that it was an enjoyable Raw. Much better than last weeks.

  3. Hey, I'm only posting the opinions of the people who actually live next to him, see him on a daily basis and so forth.

Obviously their opinions aren't as valid as those we read in the media and from people who don't know him ;)

Haha. True. I just like to think he's still a nutter. I imagine he's exactly as they say, but still, it's not as fun that way.

  4. One of my mates who played the old Smackdown games but didn't watch the TV shows was adamant that Undertaker's manager was "Paul Beaver".

Similar thing happened to me too, a mate of mine was convinced he was called "Polar Bear" which still cracks me up to this day.

Off topic but had to mention on your avatar. I'm a huge Elliott Smith fan!

  5. Vaguely related, but when I started rewatching wrestling after a bit of a break and heard Mick Foley make his weird "AHHHHTEH AHHHHHTATH WATTTEHH" noises during matches in about 1996 it sounded like he was going "TOOOOOONY! TOOOOOOOOOOOOONY!" to my young ears and since I had no idea what was going on, I concocted the theory that 'Tony' was some sort of spirit guide that he sought power from ala Undertaker's urn and that Tony was eventually going to come back and replace Paul Bearer as his manager

Haha that's ace. Me and my mates have always thought he was saying "Atchay!" Either way it's really weird.

  6. Saw him last night in Cardiff. He's just brilliant.

His impersonation of Roy Chubby Brown and description of Islamophobia had me in tears. Great stuff.

  7. A biography of Jake would be amazing, no doubt. I just cant see Jake telling the story of pissing in a pint glass and making his UKFF Shitarse girlfriend drink it or the time he lost a hair match for huge money in Mexico and spent the lot in a strip club the same night.

I need to hear the story behind that.

  8. 'With the deepest regrets, and tears that are soaked

I'm sorry to hear that your dad finally croaked

He lived a full life on his own terms

Soon he'll be buried and eaten by worms

But if I could have a son as stupid as you

I'd have wished for cancer so I would die too

So be brave, and be strong, get your life on track

'Cause the old bastard's DEAD and he ain't never comin' back!'

That's the poem in full. Mind blowing stuff.

EDIT: Attitude era Big Boss Man is absolutely amazing. What a terrific heel.

  9. I was watching the 10 most epic Smackdown moments earlier, #3 was a UKFF favourite- Big Show's father's funeral. Christ alive, I forgot how hilarious it was. The old police car Boss Man pulls up in, with a ridiculous sized megaphone attached to the top, just killed me.

It's absolutely hilarious. One of the funniest things they've ever done. Boss Man's poem in the segment is a particular highlight.

When did the concept of JR as a great untouchable best commentator ever start? I was reading an old Observer the other day from early in the attitude era and there was a letter in it moaning about him being a shit cliche-spouting knob. He only got worse for that as time went on.

When he started getting bullied onscreen, I imagine. Also, I remember back 99 when Michael Cole took over, he was so rotten it made you appreciate JR a bit more. Actually, in late 97/early 98 JR was playing second fiddle to Cole and Kevin Kelly for the first hour of Raw. They were like Mel and Sue on the announce desk. Each trying to out shit each other, and JR was just sitting there not saying a word. Its funny, because JR couldnt get a world in and Kevin Kelly and Michael Cole seemed desperate to try and show they were fit for the lead announce role. Which makes you wonder if they wanted JR off the announce team as early as then.

During my midlife crisis of watching Superstars and Raw from 94-98 (on fast forward, obviously, nostalgia is cool, but fucking hell some of it is dog shit), I've found JR so unlikable its quite sad. He's just a bitter muppet. And when he had the ability to smile, he looked like a smug cunt who's face you wouldnt get tired of punching. Because he was head of talent relations, he didnt half abuse his power with anyone below Austin, Shawn, Bret and Undertaker. In 97, when Al Snow was kicking off for losing another match, JR totally no sold his tantrum by saying "get over it you goof." He was just a cunt to everyone. His constant digs at WCW were hilariously sad. At least Bischoff was funny with it, which insider remarks and what not. JR said on Live Wire "Bret Hart is the first athlete to win the WWF title 5 times". When someone tried to call him out that Hogan had won it 5 times, JR snapped and went "YOU CALLING HOGAN A REAL ATHLETE? I SAID REAL ATHLETE" and they hung up on him.

An underrated thing over the years (probably a case of favourites getting protected) is that JR is just as bad for his hotline shit as Gene Okerlund was. The teasers you just pure shill. "A member of the Hart Foundation will be on Raw next Monday night, call 0891 299 888 for information". It was Neidhart. Same stuff as Gene, but you just know if you rang the number, JR was going to do what he does on his podcast now. Nagging old twat JR talking about lighting and needing to slow down in the ring.

This post is absolutely incredible, and whilst I don't completely agree about everything you've said about big Jim, you've certainly cheered me up. I've got to go back and watch some of these just to see how miserable he is.

  11. The search is shit isn't it? The categorisation of content isn't particularly good either. It can be a real ball-ache to find stuff.

It's shite. People were talking about watching old Raw's and it took me ages to find them on the Network.
