  1. I think it stems down to the fact that a) she isn't very good and b) she's quite arrogant in Total Divas - in one of the first episodes she lied to say she could be an announcer, and completely fucked it up - could've been entirely scripted though.

Also, putting her in the much loved NXT Womens division was genius as she is the antithesis of it. Instead of getting 'your rubbish' reactions/apathy, she was getting 'we hate that you are here, you don't deserve to be here, please go away forever' reactions which has been pretty great. In fact it's probably as close to geniune heel heat as your going to get in 2016.

It would actually be kind of awesome to see her and Roman Reigns together in a kind of updated version of H's/Stephanie.
  2. Maybe rhetorical but how does Stephanie get away with stuff like that? Completely awful. This is about as far from a one match card as you could get given the complete lack of any big time matches. If there was ever a Mania to sell on having something for everyone it's this one.

Anyway, I liked the Shane/Taker bits, didn't mind the AJ/Y2J and Ambrose/Lesnar bits even if they were totally skippable. WWE even managed to get a NY crowd to act the maggot during an Owens/Zayn match which is quite an accomplishment.
  3. Bayley should just be female John Cena. She is probably the closest they have to a replacement for the make a wish/garish tshirt side of Cena's persona. Super baby face has never really been done in the women's division to my knowledge but they should do it with her.

  4. They should have hosted one of the early debates, back when there were about 20 GoP candidates

Even better if they'd have booked them all in a gimmick Battle Royal. Ted Cruz reenacting Pillman's got a gun, Jeb Bush and Rand Paul as Ted Dibiase Jnr and Cody Rhodes in the legacy and Marco Rubio as original Sin Cara. Naturally, The Donald buys off Chris Christie and Ben Carson at the end with a big suitcase of cash for the win before ordering Christie to put Hillary through a table like year 2000 Bubba Ray Dudley.

  5.

Can you spoonfeed to me which outcome I'm supposed to cheer for then? Is it the Undertaker not being able to wrestle at Wrestlemania again or is it Shane failing and 8 more years of the Authority?

In 2010, were we supposed to cheer for Undertaker's streak ending or Shawn Michaels retiring?

To be fair the build for that was amazing and went back over a story from the previous year. Made perfect sense that Shawn would retire if he couldn't win that match in a way that nothing in this Shane/Taker match does.

  6. Vince no doubt feels vindicated that business under Daniel Bryan couldn't come close to Cena levels. In his mind, he gave those fans what they wanted and business went down. They didn't support their guy. All those yes chants and booing Batista did nothing but cause business to decline.

Bryan won the title, was booked in a short feud against Kane that nobody wanted to see, then got injured and was on the shelf for the rest of the year. Nothing to do with smart fans not supporting their guy. He was massively over going into WM30 and met all expectations to be fair. Whilst I don't think Bryan would have popped Raw back up to 5.0+ ratings again it is impossible to say if ratings would have declined as much over the past two years if things had been different. Also, interest in wrestling has been steadily declining ever since Cena became the top guy and while I think that is mostly coincidental and Cena can be a draw, his strength has always been his reliability rather than huge star power.

  7. After reading stories on the news sites, I find it hilarious that Braun Strowman gets attacked by a fan and no sells that too. Useless lump.

If he isn't going to bother to sell for Brock Lesnar why would he sell an attack from a random fan?!?!

  8. Who'd everyone book in a post WM X-7 gimmick battle royal? Got a few but after that I am struggling due to the lack of colourful gimmicks from the period...

    Boogeyman

    Santino Marella

    Lord Tensai

    The Hurricane

    Kevin Thorn

    Vladimir Kozlov

    Hornswoggle

    The ECW Zombie

    Great Khali
  9. I actually enjoyed the Funk/Ambrose segment more than anything on the show. Was silly but fun.

I have officially given up trying to make sense of the HHH/Reigns 'story'. Hunter gets blindsided by Reigns and was trying to protect his wife but somehow he is supposed to be the heel in the feud? Urgh. Reigns is shit but the politicking reign of terror version of Triple H shouldn't be making a re-appearance in 2016. Bet he lies in bed all night dreaming of his first ever big Mania pop.
  10. Bob Ryder claiming TNA have made 5 new signings.

I fully expect at least 3 of them to be Bram.

To be fair to TNA if they have been able to bring in 5 new guys because of letting Roode and Young go that is pretty smart, given that they have done every single thing possible with them a million times over. Interesting to see who they are - would two of them be

    Marcus Louis and Sylvester LeFort???

  11. This is a completely random point but anyone else think Undertaker should have kept his Hat and jacket on throughout that segment. As a visual element it's WAY stronger IMO.

A million times yes! Looked awful once he took his gear off. A better poster summed it up earlier in the thread - the shit barnet post was both hilarious and spot on.

  12. The only market I can think of that isn't really cornered by WWE, Lucha and NJPW is the 1998/99 Vince Russo tits and dick jokes market but...

    a) They have tried it before without success

    b) Their network is not likely to allow it

    c) The world has moved on - who needs to watch wrestling for T and A and misogyny when we have pornhub and reddit instead?

Post above about TNA is spot on. NXT has killed any niche it once had. Plus, there is the added advantage of getting to watch your favourites end up on the WWE main roster - a progression that never really happen for TNA guys.
  13.

I just don't hold with the opinion that he had all the tools to be the top star.

    Who's even said that?

The post above mine that I was replying to:

Reigns had everything to be a star and they wasted him by making him Cena.

We don't even really disagree that much and I respect your opinion - we only differ in that I think they have done as much as they can and yourself and some other posters think that they should have done more to protect and push him. Both of us agree on what his limitations are... I just have the opinion that these overshadow the positives to a point where he is never going to 'the guy' no matter how he is booked :)

  14. The Shield music and attire is detrimental.

Agree, but it was never meant to be detrimental. I can understand why they did it.

I just don't hold with the opinion that he had all the tools to be the top star. I think he has some of the tools but I don't agree that he has what it takes to be the top babyface. He is in the Orton/Cesaro category for me and would be better of working heel for a while and seeing if they have more success that way.

  15.

Reigns has been given ace stuff to do

Sufferin Succotash, Batman, do you really believe this shit?

Most eliminations in the Rumble, only one to keep the shield music/attire, Main event at Mania vs Brock Lesnar still fairly warm of hot off breaking the streak with Paul Heyman selling his balls off to get the match over. Went over Daniel Bryan who was fresh off his big return, post Mania feuds against Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and The Authority...got to lay his hands on Vince McMahon, booked to win the title tournament, rarely gets pinned and never submitted. That's pretty much their entire playbook at the minute. Yes, most of it has been shit...I just don't think that's because he hasn't been given the opportunity.

  16.

To be fair 'they' haven't. WWE have done absolutely everything in their power to get Roman over.

They've cut his balls off repeatedly

Only because they have repeatedly been forced to because he is not good enough and the pushes haven't turned out as planned.

Cena, Bryan, Punk were given some right shit to work with in the past (Tag team with Kane being the least imaginable booking ever for example) but they always injected enough of their own persoanlity to make it watchable. Reigns has been given ace stuff to do but no amount of excuses is going to change him from being a very good worker who has little charisma. He is the casual fans' Cesaro.

  17.

Not only am I a bajillion more times invested in Dean Ambrose's titles push then I am Roman's, when Bray stared down Triple H I thought 'fucking hell, I'm even more interested in this than I am HHH/Reigns.'

Easily the most uninspiring Wrestlemania main event in ages.

It's hard to work out how they managed to fuck this up. Reigns/Trips should be money in the bank.

To be fair 'they' haven't. WWE have done absolutely everything in their power to get Roman over. All the things you have mentioned show that ...I mean what more could they possible do? It shows that booking will only take you a guy so far. At some point the talent has to then make the most of the opportunity just like Cena and Bryan did. Reigns just hasn't got it in him. Other guys would be ridiculously over by now they even had a quarter of the opportunities that Roman has had. Never mind the comparison to Diesel, Reigns is this era's Test.

  18. Looks like Ambrose vs H's at the Garden then (which could be brilliant tbh). Lesnar costs Ambrose the match to get further revenge for the Fast Lane chair shots and build their Mania match. DQ ending would make sense to protect all parties. Reigns can make the big save for Deano at the end to get some of that 'Dean's mate' heat they go to when they get desperate.

Must admit to being very dissapointed with the progression of the Taker/Shane storyline. Vince and Steph did their bit to build up a bit of animosity but what was the point in bringing Taker in and doing pretty much nothing with him. I think I would prefer that match if it was Shane vs Bray in a kind of Vince is desperate so makes a deal with a nutter kind of thing. Pity the Wyatts are DOA.

Also, did I accidently skip past it or did Rusev's 'big announcement' body slam challenge get Dixie Carter'd?
