  3. Think that's an older pic of Hero, saw him in Birmingham about 3 weeks ago and was in much better shape than that though not ripped but he's never had that kind of physique.

Correct, i was there for the same show. Judging by the new PWG trailer as well, he appears to be even better shape now as well.

I never really minded fat Hero. I think he just let himself go because the guy wanted a break. He got into killer shape to make it to WWE, he looked great in his last NXT appearance and was let go shortly after. He probably just wanted a few months to relax and eat a bunch of junk food for a few months instead of going straight back to gym life. Now that he's had his fun, he clearly knows how to get back into shape again.

It reminds me of Rob Mcelhenney, who plays Mac in 'It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia'. He's a known gym freak and he purposely got into bad shape in order to use it as a storyline in the afore mentioned TV show. Comparing the two, I think people would of liked Hero's more rounded figure a lot more if he played up to it (which, to my knowledge, he never).

  4. Well hopefully Sonisphere can provide what i'm after. If not, then i'd be perfectly content with not going to another festival for another few years, unless something really great pops along or i have the chance to attend Glastonbury. I've seen a good chunk of the big, famous bands and i've seen most of the bands i've ever wanted to see (still need to cross off Foo Fighters, Against Me!, Circle Takes The Square and Murder By Death) so if i go the rest of my life without attending another festival then i'd be okay with it. I just really want one more festival that makes me giddy with excitement about the bands. After 2011 i was only going because of the atmosphere.

  5. I was looking forward to the Download announcements but i am deeply dissapointed so far. I attended every year from 2008 until 2013 but gave this years a miss due to the shoddy line-up. Next year is the same, it seems. The only band i care about enough to see is Muse but that's only through their earlier work. There's a lot of repeat bands that i've all ready seen (some even multiple times at the same bloody festival).

I'm not a big METALZ~~!!! fan, so Bloodstock isn't really my cup of tea. I think American festivals are right up my alley; decent mx of rock, indie, reunited emo bands, a dollop of heavier stuff and some out-of-left-field choices as well. I mean where else can you find Foo Fighters, Outkast, Slayer and Melvins on the same festival?!? Download 2011 came close to achieving that sort of flavour, which is why it's my most fondly remembered festival experience.

I may make a play for Sonisphere next year as they seem to have a better grasp at curating a decent mix of bands. I doubt i'll ever attend Reading or Leeds though as i've heard the atmospere is dogshit compared to Download/Sonisphere, which is a shame as they do book some quaity stuff at times.

  6.

It's a lot better than it looks. The GIF i found is from an awkward angle and is slightly choppy. It usually comes across as pretty devasting, especially when done to lighter guys. The over-the-top japenese commentary adds to the impact as well.

The one he hits on Tyson Kidd on this weeks NXT looked much better. Is that Lance Hoyt he's hitting it on in the gif?

I believe so. I've seen Ibushi and Okada take terrific bumps from it. AJ should go with the Pele' kick being his finisher. It has that 'classic' finisher feel as you can hit it out of any position on virtually anybody. Maybe bust out the Spyral Tap for his big finishes.

  7. I have a load of games lying on my PC from a couple of Humble Bundles that i bought a couple of months ago. I've not had the time to start playing them until now.

Started off by playing HammerWatch, which feels like an updated version of Gaunlet mixed with Smash-TV. It's a top-down, dungeon crawling hack'n'slasher. It can get a bit repetitive but it's addictive as crack and really satisying. You'll wonder into an area with about 30 enemies lurking within 10 feet of you. 45 seconds later, your fingers are blasting the keyboard harder than any pornographic metaphor i can muster. The last enemy will be slaughtered and you'll feel victorious as you collect all the surrounding loot before you prepare to do it all again in about ten seconds in the adjacent room.

In other words, it's brilliant. I doubt i'll get to other twenty or so games for another few weeks.

  8.

How did the Israeli show come about? I think it was one of the Sunday supercard shows you used to do. I remember at the time thinking that was a bit of a random show to put on the channel, and dont think I saw anything else from them?

Another question I was going to ask.  I remember watching this one and thinking "how on earth did TWC come across this?".  From what I remember it looked like it was taped in a nightclub with a tiny crowd and a bar at the side but was an ok show

I remember that show. I caught it whilst staying over at my grand parents house. The only thing that has stuck with me is HAWAII ALAN! Still the greatest wrestler of all time.

  9. I wasn't at the show, but i'm glad that you pointed out those causing trouble. Hopefully, some of the PROGRESS guys will read it and then keep a keener eye on any trouble makers for the next show. Twats have no business being at indy wrestling shows.

The title of Chapter 16 is amazing, and is the selling point enough as it is!

  10. Did Fin complete the History Of PPV on-going feature? I haven't bought Powerslam in years due to its decline in quality, but whenever i had a wee browse of it in WHSmith, that was the one thing that i really liked. I wonder if some kind soul is going to upload the entire series as it made for great reading. Either that or Fin should release it. I'd happily chuck him a few quid for it.

  11. Does anybody know what TPB(s) would follow Batman: Black Mirror? Absoluteley loved it and i am very curious to see how the story goes from here.

I've only just started reading The Walking Dead and Y: The Last Man; seeing them getting negative feedback is disheartening so i hope i am dumb enough to be easily entertained by them as i continue to buy the volumes.

  12. Are Taking Back Sunday any cop these days? I basically stopped following them after the first 3 records and it felt like they were fading on the 3rd. Saw them about 3 years ago and they were pretty crap, to be honest

The third record was their low point. Cracking single in the form of 'Makedamsure' and a few noteworthy songs scattered around but nothing truly outstanding. The 4th album, 'New Again', was a weird one; not particularly exciting by any means, but it did have splashes of excellence here and there. Definately an album where they channelled all their musical inspirations to see what came out.

The two new albums have mish-mashed into one for me. Not much in terms of evoloution but they've found their 'New Decade' style and they are looking at sticking to it. It's not a bad creative choice to make but for us all expecting another 'Tell All Your Friends' (which sits nicely in my Top 5 Records) it's a bit of a dissapointment. Still, try to make it to the shows; i saw them in Birmingham, most likely on the same tour you did, and although Adam was a bit obnoxious, as lead singers sometimes become, they still belted out those classics and i felt like i was 17 again.

Also, keeping on the Emo side of things, Mineral have reformed after over 15 years and will be touring the US on a Reunion binge. Mineral are Emo pioneers and were just as important to the mid-90's scene as Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Promise Ring and Jimmy Eat World. I've been wanted a reunion from them for years just so i could see them live but i doubt they'll come over to these shores unless they make another album. Breaks my heart.

  13. Taking Back Sunday have announced their next UK tour! December can't come soon enough. http://www.gigsandtours.com/tour/taking-back-sunday They're hitting Portsmouth, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Oxford. The new album is pretty decent too so it should be a killer show.

And in regards to the Deathcore talk, it is a horrible, HORRIBLE genre. I'm sure it's got its positives to their target audience but having been listening to 'screamo' since 1999 (Circle Takes The Square, PG 99, Funeral Diner, Saeita, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, etc), this new breed of noise does absolutely nothing for me.

  14. Or they've been buying it for years out of habit.

That's me. I've bought every one since Sting winning the belt at Starrcade 97. I still like the DVD reviews, "History of pro wrestling on PPV," Stately Wayne/Santili and interviews. I still like reading what Fin thought of the latest shows even though I often disagree with what he thought of the WWE PPV, don't really know what to think of the TNA PPV because I didn't watch it, and don't need Fin to tell me the New Japan show was brilliant.

So yeah. Habit sums it up best.

At one point, i was only buying the magazine to read the History Of PPV article. I soon stopped and just began reading it at WHSmith. If there is one thing they should do before shutting up shop, it's releasing all those articles in a nice little paperback.

  15. So this is happening over in the States...

    tumblr_inline_n19s85trMv1qzxlbn.jpg

What a cracking line-up that is. I absolutely love Brand New (and the only time i got to see them live was when i was pissed out of my face. Really, really, REALLY regret that one). Circa Survive, Braid and Kevin Devin are bloody brilliant as well. Don't mind a bit of Say Anything either. Totally jealous of this. Wish they would bring a similar tour over here at some point.

  16. Very strange, bizarre and short Kane interview here on The KiddChris Show, it's well worth a listen for all of the wrong reasons and it won't take long:

On the note of podcasts I used to love Dropkick Radio but they ended quite a while back now. Now I enjoy listening to Smart Wrestling Fan, In Your Head Wrestling Radio, Pro Wrestling Noise, The Steel Cage and Wrestling Soup. I also love to watch Pro Wrestling Report with Damien Nelson and David Herro.

You enjoyed DropKick Radio? Fair play to you if you did. I was after a weekly fix of RAW and SmackDown discussion so i tried them out for a few weeks. Never heard such knobbery in my life. Then i stumbled onto the LAW radio podcasts and i haven't looked back.
