  1. DTM highlights starting on ITV4. It's at Valencia?

Schumacher special on the BBC red button.

WRC France this weekend too. Crazy incident in one of the stages with Solberg. He completely misjudged a corner and ended up going cross country. Strange, due to France being a tarmac rally. So he was tearing through the vineyard ,trying to find the road. Which he did. Only to ignore it and plough through the field on the other side of the narrow strip of tarmac. Until he came to an abrupt stop when he smashed into a concrete electricity pole. The aerial footage of this is great. As the damaged pole slowly teeters over and narrowly missed connecting with the head of a spectator. There were sparks also as the electricity cables broke apart. Luckily no one was hurt.

Loeb is in the lead. With Latvala chasing hard after his tire choice began to pay dividends.

Good action in the BTCC from Silverstone today.

  2. Yeah. Best thing for him. Why tarnish his legacy any further. Hopefully he stays around and helps to develop Mercedes or another team. I can't see him being a mentor for Hamilton. Rosberg maybe.

Wasn't Vettel someone he helped nurture?

  3. Wales Rally GB is interesting. Purely because Loeb and Citroen aren't dominating. Ford and Latvala are having a great rally. Latvala is in love with his car at the moment.

Premiere Sports are showing the NASCAR Geico 400 from Chicago today. The buildup is on now as freeview. Having an interesting discussion regarding the technology used by Hendricks Motorsports. NASCAR generally keeps things very simple. Hendricks had some sort of nifty rear steer system which allowed them extra downforce. By putting the rear of the car at an angle, it seems. Can't quite get my head round it at the moment. However it works it's been banned. The term used was "the science experiment has been ended". Which I thought was a very cool way of putting it.

  4. Another issue I have with my HTC DesireHD. Is the screen not blanking off during a call. I've finished a call and found that my wallpaper has changed because of this. During a call it can cut out or decide to call someone else. A little research had found that it seems to be an issue with the proximity sensor requiring calibration.I've downloaded an app to do this. However it won't run. I get the message "Kernal not supported" "- ps_polling_ignore not found"Anyone know a solution? I'm on Orange running Android version 2.3.5.

  5. Got an HTC DesireHD. When posting on here the window jumps off screen if I use the phone horizontally. Don't have the same problem when using it conventionally/portrait. Anyone know why it jumps of screen? Strangely as I'm typing this it has decided to behave. May need to try starting in portrait and then changing to horizontal.

  6. Thanks. Never knew that. I was aware of his racing in the WTCC. What an amazing bloke. Will be great to see him racing competitively at the Indy 500.

Monza this weekend. Apparently Hamilton had to answer some awkward question at the Drivers press conference. Something that Alonso found entertaining.

Just watching the analysis of Grosjean's accident from last week. He really didn't give Hamilton any room. Bit of a comedy moment at the end, with the marshal chasing after an errant wheel. Can be seen on Skys F1 show.

The F1 show also covers the Carfest event. Carfest North is this weekend.

Pretty cool Dakar Rally feature on Fifth Gear this week. Worth checking out.

  7. Just saw that Alex Zanardi has won gold in a cycling event at the Paralympics. Never even knew he was competing. Doesn't surprise me though. Everything you read about the guy says he is a fighter and competition is his life.

Did he ever make it to F1?

  8. Watching the BTCC highlights. Lots of rubbing racing going on. The first race was full of incident and the finish for third was incredibly close. Not sure I agree with the result. Looked different from the pictures. What do they mean by Super 2000 spec cars? There seems to be a discrepancy between the Super 2000 spec cars and the others. Why is that allowed? Matt Jackson opening his door to allow the exhaust gasses to escape was pretty amazing. He actually felt he could have finished the race like that. Good job TOCA were paying attention.BMW EBay were dominant. DTM at Zandvoort showing afterwards on ITV 4.What's happening in the Belgium GP?

  9. I caught that DTM race last weekend after realising my laptop enables me to watch ARD live for some reason. It shouldn't, but it does. That was a dull race. It always offered to be a bit more exciting, but nothing really came of it. I haven't watched the ITV highlight packages, but I do wonder if they find a way to make the races seem interesting.

Davidson isn't back in the Toyota after his Le Mans crash. He's only just started getting back into the Mercedes sim as part of his rehab. He's at Silverstone this weekend as a Toyota driver, but he isn't participating in the race.

The DTM show was only a half hour Long. There was plenty of offs. The cars were taking some interesting lines. Bringing loads of gravel not the track. What they showed was fun.

Went to the Coventry Motoring Festival today. It was a fun day out. There were a few cool cars there. A really nice example of a B10 Alpina being particularly eye-catching. Lots of historical cars there too. The Spitfire fly past was very good too. The pilot made a number of circuits and flew just above the tree tops. Giving everyone a great view of the plane. That was probably the best part of the event. Worth going for that alone.

Got back to find some cool Classic Touring Car action on Motors TV. Was there any historical touring car footage during the BTCC programming today?

  10. DTM highlights on ITV 4 at 1300. It's from the Nurburgring.

Cheers Tom. Will try and watch some of that. I think Anthony Davidson is back after his crash at Le Mans. Where he suffered a couple of cracked vertebrae.

    Busy weekend.
