    Oof.

I don't, nor have I ever used (I'm guessing it's) Twitter. How does this read... Is it Jericho posting that statement, or has he liked it? I can't decipher it!

On the CM Punk note though. Personally, I'm a little gutted. I genuinely bought in to the idea that it was the WWE environment that made him so bitter and angry (and in fairness it probably added to his frame of mind nowadays). That return/debut from last August was note perfect, smiles all round. Was made up for him that he seemed to have found his place again amongst the wrestling community. And for 7-9 months all seemed great. But then a little crack here and there seemed to manifest until we arrive at this sorry state of affairs.

His previous work will mean he remains a favourite of mine and someone who I'll always dip back in to from time to time. But fuckin hell, what a way to absolutely blow your career/legacy. And he has. Utterly shattered his status, most probably has completely put the final nail in his coffin on his wrestling career.

it's just an amazing juxtaposition from August '21 to August '22. I'm sure it extended beyond this forum but he has always been somewhat of a polarising character/performer but for a 6 month period was heading towards being lauded as an all time great. I know many will have uttered these sentiments, but the thought that 'that' episode of Rampage could have turned so toxic, nasty and ugly is something to write a degree on. It truly has got everything, emotion wise at least.

    What a shame..

Good Brothers reportedly coming in. It was pretty obvious if you watched the TV, but even so. Their ability to somehow always be employed by top companies when they’re absolute dog shit is something to behold. Luke Gallows in particular. The mind boggles.

The upside (and this is purely selfish on my part), is as I don't watch any WWE now, for the problems AEW are currently going through... at least one problem they can avoid is having those uninteresting berks back on Dynamite.

    Every cloud and that..

Now I think about it, that 94 sticker album was pretty much the ‘last hurrah’ for serious wrestling popularity here, at least in my experience anyway. I still remember kids talking about the Bret/Lex ending to the Rumble and buzzing about the Bret vs Owen feud. By about Survivor Series that year it was dead though with only a few kids still talking about it at all. Me being one of them. PPVs came and went with no playground hype, the last Hasbro series I remember getting any attention was the Yoko/Bam Bam one and I vividly remember a lad talking about Bob Backlund beating Bret for the belt and getting laughed at for still watching. Fucking Backlund wasn’t cutting it amongst 9 year olds. But yeah, that sticker book was probably the last time I recall any real enthusiasm and excitement for the WWF as a kid.

Seeing as it works out you'll be a couple years younger than me, I suppose it makes sense you/your year managed to drag another year of fandom out of it!

That Hasbro series was the last I remember too, at least in terms of your main shops (them being in Argos). I remember going to town with my birthday money, desperately wanting Yoko, but it was outta stock. So asked for Luger instead, outta stock! Had to settle for the 'Beast from the East'! And that was the Hasbro adventure over, or so I thought. Until heading over to Ireland the following year to see family, can't think of the name of the shop but it was Ireland's main toy shop I think, and an absolute avalanche of Hasbro's (some I never knew existed) battering my senses into submission and spending the majority of my holiday money there and then! Giant Gonzales, Tatanka, Rick Martel, Steiner's and possibly one or two more. Could not wait to get 'home' home!

That particular Survivor Series card as well. My friend who went to another school from me, we met up late October for a sleepover (did lads call it that?! I genuinely can't remember, it was nearly 30 years ago after all!). We left junior school absolutely transfixed with all things WWF, when I asked if he's looking forward to Survivors, he laughed at me and said "nah, I don't watch that crap any more". My first true heartbreak! 🤣

The one with Undertaker on the cover (94) was the one in our school. Those stickers were like actual currency for a few months. Swaps being made like they were drug deals, friendships ended, the lot.

I'm surprised the buzz was still there with that one. The aforementioned Hitman '93 version was the peak round our way. By the time the Taker '94 one came out, the mania had gone. I remember getting that '94 one as it came included with the May '94 issue of WWF magazine (my first ever WWF mag, and not long having had Sky TV and seeing Adam Bomb on the cover, I thought he looked cool as fuck. Previously relying on friends and family taping the odd PPV and episode of All American Wrestling to get my fix, I had no idea who this mean mutha fucka was!). Unfortunately as I say, the fad was gone by that point, so I probably managed about 25 packs of stickers max. When you can't indulge in the swap/need shenanigans it kinda leaves it a bit flat too. Coupled with the fact I was heading to secondary school in '94, I'm certain I'd have been an outcast for life had I rocked up to the big leagues with a WWF sticker album! From that moment on, it was whatever football one came out (prem league/euro '96/endsleigh football league etc).

Of course the Internet is fantastic for useless shit like this.

I'll not link to the exact point as I wouldn't want to ruin the suspense..

Haha. There we are, I stand corrected!!

On a side note, the top half of that Shawn Michaels double sticker combination was the only one I needed to complete that particular album. My younger sister, to not feel left out, was bought an album and probably 4 packs of stickers total. I get home from school one day and notice she has that exact one stuck (very fucking untidily by the way) in her book. Absolutely furious. To this day might I add!!

Edit: Oh and Merlin > Panini every time!

Never trust what’s printed on merch as accurate. The 1993 WWF sticker album said Shawn Michaels’ motto was “Shawn Michaels is in the building.” Which he never said.

So in reference to this, if it does indeed say "Shawn Michaels is in the building", then fair fucks!

But if you haven't seen said sticker book (the pink, Bret Hart one?) since roughly the 1993 timeframe, is not your memory playing tricks on you? He was spouting the Elvis inspired gimmick at the time, of "Shawn Michaels has left the building". Or at least the commentators were saying it a segment or two after he'd had his match/interview spot. I genuinely have no recollection or opportunity to check whether it does say what you claim! So you may well be right.

As @wandshogun09 mentioned, the new SCG Radio is up, this time covering one of the most explosive periods in company history - March and WrestleMania 8. The company becomes overwhelmed with negative media press and controversy - drug allegations turns to sex scandal, key officials resign, Vince McMahon is accused of rape, the media hits the story hard with the famous Larry King, Donahue and Geraldo pieces, and amidst the whirlwind, Hulk Hogan leaves the WWF. And of course, we look at the booking heading into Mania 8, as Flair Vs. Savage picks up as Elizabeth takes centre stage, Bret Hart and Roddy Piper have a classic, and the Ultimate Warrior returns to the promotion. A supersized episode, but this is one you don't want to miss. Check it out and enjoy.

Hey Liam, is there a place with all your previous podcasts to listen to? I remember listening to an older one about a year or so ago and liking it a lot. But just never went back to listen to others, for some bizarre reason!

  8. Just want to echo the love for this thread Raid, I'd forgot my log in details (been wanting to do this for several months) so only just getting round to this, but have been reading it daily.

In my near 20 years on here, truly is the greatest 'one off' thread in the forum's history (at least since I've been present on it anyway).

I'm not an expert by any means but this is how i think it works.

Full time workers doing a 5 day week are entitled to 28 days holiday per year (some companies include bank holidays, others don't).

When working 4 days a week  you are doing 80% of days you get 80% of holiday entitlement : 22.4 days per year.

Yours is a bit more complicated as you do 4 days 1 week, 3 days the next week.

But presumably same principal applies  : you are doing 60% of days so get 60% of holiday entitlement :16.8 days per year.

So week 1 (mon to thurs) you get 11.2 days per year / week 2 (mon to wed) you get 8.4 days per year.

Added together you get 19.6 days holiday per year.

Simply, a regular mon-fri shift over 2 weeks someone will work 10 days out of 14 : you work 7 days out of 14. You work 70% of days so get 70% of holiday.

Hope that's correct. Then again i could be talking complete rubbish.

Probably the best people to ask are citizens advice.

Yeah that's all adding up. It's not too dissimilar from what i'm being offered, but think there's still a day or two discrepancy which I think I should  be getting (based on their offer) more of. Appreciate that detailed breakdown, will have a discussion with my bosses when i'm back at work.

    Thanks a lot

Is there no mention of it in your contract?

There is, yes. But i'm trying to establish whether it's a fair enough base in line with other shift patterns.

I was working Mon-Fri with everyone else but, long story short they accommodated for me and two others (as we've predominantly prefered condensing our hours to allow for days off/save on fuel). As it's unchartered territory for them (employer) as well, i'm unsure whether they may have missed something their end. They've only had to calculate for a standard 40 hour week/5 day a week job normally. If my office were pretty switched on with everything, I'd be inclined to accept it without second guessing. As it stands, we have constant miscalculations of pay per month with members of staff. Not being on top of who is off when and where etc. Picture i'm trying to portray is, they're not very professional (efficient is probably a better word) when it comes to the rights of its staff/employees.

I don't want to be signing a new contract if i'm massively undercutting myself.

  11. So i'm looking for a little help with regards holiday entitlement in my job. Hopefully this is ok in here, couldn't think of another thread that is relevant enough.

The best way to explain my shift would be to class it as a 2 week rota. In week 1, I work Mon - Wed (6am-6pm shifts) and Thur (6am-12pm shift). And in week 2, I work Mon - Wed (6pm-6am shifts). So in that two week period i'm working a total of 78 hours.

I have used several different hol. entitlement calculators and have gotten anything from 18 days to 25.6 days (inclusive of bank holidays). I think where i'm getting lost is what is construed as an actual working day, ambiguously stating that  I should only use days that the company are physically open (i.e. Mon-Fri), or another which will state using the full 7 day week as the template to calculate from.

I guess the gist of it is, I work (the above mentioned hours) and my company is only open 5 days a week, (Opening only on weekends during busy periods, however not being contractually obligated to work but if you want to help out, then there's option of some overtime there).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm trying to work out my leave days for the year but don't feel I've been given enough. Either that, or I've been very fortunate in previous jobs and their allocation of holidays, as I never felt like I was scrimping and scraping with were I could use a holiday before in other companies.

    Thanks in advance

  12. As soon as I saw the topic headline, my first thought was similar to the Braun thing. Get rid, bring him back 3 months later with a nice hefty pay decrease. And that's it, I would be more surprised if that's not the case.

The absolute bottom line in that company now seems to be how much money can we save to ultimately make more going forward. Similar to Braun, a 7 figure annual salary. It has to be the easiest, most logical next step in cost cutting measures for them. Say they have upwards of ten people on 7 figures (Not all of who will be expendable in their eyes, Reigns etc), that's gotta be another couple of mill they could potentially save per year.

    As with the Bond films..

    Bray Wyatt will return

  13. It used to be WrestleMania XX for me. Lesnar's last match. Goldberg's last match. Rock's last match. And then they all got sucked back in.

Failing those three individuals, all I have left to cling to from that event now is the last tag match of the Rock & Sock Connection. Doesn't quite have the gravitas of those three individuals though.

Am I remembering rightly, Jeff Jarrett vs Triple H at Capital Carnage? Five years later, that particular match would have the internet in quite a meltdown.

A house show (Winter Rampage tour) in Feb '93 I also attended with a title match of Bret v Flair. Yes they had a PPV match almost 5 years later. But today, that'd be pretty significant too.

I was about to ask is the Kyle get-up a really badly misjudged attempt and being a little like Orange Cassidy, then I saw what he wore last month..

If anything, it looks like a Poundland Bray Wyatt knockoff, circa 2016.

Surely someone in the office must see that resemblance and not encourage that. Wear what the hell you like, all fashion is subjective after all but coming only a couple of years after another wrestler in your company has or had a similar ish style. Amateur hour!

Not so sure Torrie was rolling in it after her career in WWE, otherwise she wouldn't have went straight into the US version of I'm A Celebrity

I'd put that down more to her trying to crack mainstream. WWE must have given her a semi decent living. With all the side ventures (playboy etc), the fact those divas videos were some of the best selling dvds they had (as always a percentage of merch sold goes to performers, featured at least).

I'd put that personal decision down to still wanting the fame without the slog of being away from home for 300 days a year.

You’re right actually, I’d clean forgotten about that. The Cracker Barrel brawl...wasn’t that the match where someone stood on thumbtacks? Ugh.

Not entirely sure, I have a vague memory of someone having thumbtacks put in there mouth and taped shut. Might not have been that match though.

Just seen a tweet from Corbin that he, Lashley and Drew were some sort of faction on Raw for a bit.

    When on earth was that?!

Whenever Ambrose/Moxley was leaving. Early 2018? They formed to essentially be the Shield's final swansong at (i wanna say) Fastlane 2018.

Also a kid in my class told me his cousin had a 'Rugged' Ronnie Garvin Hasbro figure - I mean of all the wrestlers he could've bullshitted about - Ronnie fucking Garvin!!!

It very well could have and most probably was just childlike bullshit, but could he have seen the Greg Valentine figure and thought it was Ronnie Garvin? A similar look, especially in Hasbro form.
