  1. Behind the Ghostbusters, the Hasbro's ran them very very close as being my favourite childhood toyline.

I have spoke about the Hasbro's before to a worryingly identic memory of which was my first and in what order I got the rest etc, but I won't bother with that this time because it ain't really that important! What I will say however is that in terms of what age it is deemed uncool to still play with toys, I pushed it and probably went way over. I think my friends tended to stop playing with figures roundabout the age of 12, possibly 13. I carried on well into my 15th year and I think had a small return to them at the age of 19/20 when I purchased a load on Ebay. Granted it only lasted a couple of weeks mainly because of the sheer embarrassment of not realising my folks had returned home, me being in my room and them probably hearing the unmistakeable bangs and crashes of the plastic wrestling figure slamming into the plastic, hollowed wrestling ring!! Sad case!

I remember marker penning He-Man's hair and fashioning a really rough and poor looking black singlet to create Diesel. Marker penning the Hogan figure to create Hollywood Hogan, the Rocker Shawn Michaels figure to become Owen Hart and one of those really cheap figures you'd get and turning him into Steve Austin. This particular figure having the slightest tuft of hair on his head and an eye patch, but he was as close to Austin as I was gonna get!

In the Spring of 1998, I remember getting into them again with the emergence of the Attitude era. I modelled my fed around (at the time) current events. The real World Steve Austin became my Macho Man (purple trunks) hasbro, Dude Love became Jeff Jarrett (who i'd fashioned from a second Mr. Perfect figure I had) and the Vince McMahon role was played by Dennis Nedry (the Jurassic Park figure with removable arms!). I had some cracking Tag feuds with some made up teams of Papa Shango and Brian Knobbs, Virgil and Doink, Owen & Bulldog and Earthquake & Sid.

I used to nick school textbooks from erm, school and would write down everything in them. The factions i'd created at the beginning, the entire Title history over several pages, believe it or not an actual win/loss column for every figure before finally heading into the events. The most decorated figure I had was Shawn Michaels. A multiple World Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, King of the Ring winner and Royal Rumble winner.

When I went back to the figures at an age when I should have known better, i used to cut out the Title belts from WWF Magazine (there was a specific page advertising all the replica Belts that were for sale) out and glue them onto thicker paper for a very realistic size comparable to the Hasbro figures and clasp them with a small piece of blutac.

    Memories...!

  2. Genuinely in love with this programme, haven't read the books so taking it as it comes. One major drawback to it all though is that I feel ambivalent to routing for characters now. It seems that there aren't any payoffs to back stories, Ned learns of the truth and meets his grisly end. Same for Robb (wasn't a fan of Robb, but you believed in his cause), and now the same of Oberyn.

if this were a concoction of wrestling story arcs, without the mentioned payoffs we would be shitting all over it.

It's engaging stuff, truly, but I fear throwing my support behind the next character in case they too fail to deliver. Of course, there are still three seasons left but of the current lot I don't see where the next leader comes from.

Daenyres (sp?), is neither here nor there with me. Jaime (and Tyrion) seem to be broken shells of the men they once were, understandably so. The rest I feel are either supporting players or downright dicks who I want to see fail.

The fact that Oberyn has such a valid reason to succeed at destroying those who made him suffer, leaves me upset that vengeance hasn't been served.

And honestly, I can't believe T.V can still do this to me!

  3. Ultimate Warrior has done a deal with 2KSports to be a playable character in the WWE2K14 video game.

This marks the first time Warrior has been in a WWE video game for over 20 years, Super Wrestlemania for the SNES being the last time.

His movesets and taunts were in Smackdown Here Comes the Pain on the Ps2, last minute hitch on the deal back then iirc re legends. Simple enough to do from create a wrestler, even has his robe in it as well iirc.

Am I missing something or remembering something that never was? Warrior was in the Legends of WrestleMania game 4 years ago, was he not?

  4. I'm after some help guys... Is there a website that will show, in simplistic ways, what comics/graphic novels correlate/branch off from one another?

For example 'Civil War', I bought the book a few weeks back (along with several others over the last few months), but want to read up on the events that led up to the beginning and especially the aftermath. With Steve Rogers handing himself in, and the story arc from then. I guess a chronological order of books is what i'm after.

I'm not too bothered about recommendations as I'm pretty certain they have been made on more than one occasion in here, and bare in mind (although i've been a fan of comic book superheros for a good while) i'm new to the graphic novel side of it so i'm more about buying on a whim and immersing myself in anything and everything that takes my fancy!

Books i've bought over the last few months written below, so any help with those would be great...

Civil War (From what I know, would the 50 State Initiative and Captain America: Prisoner, be what i'm after here?)

    Batman Hush

the Amazing Spider Man: Spider Island

    Avengers Origins

    Fear Itself

Ultimate Comics X-Men: Divided We Fall United We Stand

    Avengers vs X-Men

    Avengers vs New Ultimates

Plus some smaller hard back copies from the shop, The Works...

the Amazing Spider Man: Crime and Punisher

The Mighty Avengers: Secret Invasion (Book 2 Vol 4)

The New Avengers: Search For The Sorcerer Suprem (Vol 11)

Avengers : Standoff (Which reads like it's massively incomplete)

    Black Widow Deadly Origin

    Ultimatum: Spider Man

Thanks in advance. On a side note, any sites that offer them cheaper? Going to Florida in 3 months, running out of ways to justify spending 30 quid every couple of weeks! Especially with my overtime having been drastically reduced.

  5. I'm currently in Vegas... just walking past Mandalay Bay hotel and hear some 'rock' music blaring out. Start to move closer to get a look, turning to my girlfriend... "Hey, that singer looks a lot like the wrestler Chris Jericho". Get a bit closer still, turn to her again... "fuck, that is Chris Jericho". There was some sort of rock/metal gig going on to promote a new energy drink and there in all their glory, Fozzy!

Oh yeah, main point I bring this up. Jericho is now sporting a new tattoo(s) across his arm. I'll try get a picture up when my gf's transferred her photo's to the laptop. That is all, i'm now off to lose a small fortune!

  6. Anyone off here go to the 90's Reloaded weekend just gone at Butlins in Skegness. Was talking to a massive group of lads who dressed up as 90's wrestlers? Particurlary good I remember was Goldust, Papa Shango and Jake Roberts.

  7. May I just ask if anyone else is watching Paul Merton's Birth of Hollywood? Thus far I think it's been a cracker. I'll admit I'm constantly interested in old hollywood and films, and this has been very good. Paul Merton is a great narrator as well.

I came in here to raise the 'Birth of Hollywood' to you fine people too. It really is very good, after watching the first episode I couldn't find the second on Iplayer, until last night (which also had episode 3). I thought episode 2 was particularly fantastic, focusing on Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle and the trial that ultimately led to his downfall. Anyone unfamiliar with the case, or that would like a delving look into the origins of film, should watch this.

    Well done Mr. Merton.

  8. I always mean to ask this but forget, on one of the early Smackdowns of 2000 was a cage match between the Outlaws and Hardys. Now, has my mind played a decade long trick on me or did Road Dogg perform a moonsault in said match by running up the three turnbuckles and jumping straight off? I ask cos I was amazed to be honest and haven't seen him do the same since or previous. Any footage?

  9. Quick question, what do WWF VHS tapes sell for? I have WrestleMania XVI and XVII plus the WrestleMania I - XV boxset fully in tact and good working order. I know they're considered collectible due to the old WWF scratch logo, but wanted to know if E-Bay prices were what you'd expect or are they unfairly saturated with the price reflective of this.

  10. Best of the 90s came out in 2001 anyway, but it was a fun little tape to watch. It may have been released by WWF as well, as it wasn't Warner Bros, it was "Wrestle Vision", and there was a double tape set released of that and Wrestlemania 17.

Was also released as a double with the Invasion PPV> I owned it too. Line up was good, but I wouldn't have paid any money for a highlight tape. Was worth the freebie though with Invasion.

  11. I'm watching The X Files from the very beginning. Any seasons or episodes in particular I should be looking forward to ? Any that I should be wary of ?

Have you perciviered with it? If so, where are you upto? It's my favourite of all time, (even if the earlier season's do look dated somewhat now). I'll clue you in to some future episodes if you're still watching. What I will say in advance though is... don't think negative when Robert Patrick enters as Agent John Doggett, (if you get that far!). Yes it isn't the X-Files that you could potentially grow to love, but take it as it is. I found myself thinking of what if Doggett and Reyes (with Scully) were the original characters. Think of it like that and you'll love it all over again. Season 4-6 is patchy in places, but I feel it picks up again. And I actually believe that Patrick's entrance injects new life into it.

  12. Now, I'm sure you've all seen the Sharkboy impression of Stone Cold that was floating around earlier this week.Well, here's some critical analysis of that from a HUGE TNA fan, and could it be our very own Mab? The resemblance is uncanny....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HVaIX6yX4wThat really does make me weep for the future of humanity.

As far as that goes. At least stop eating while you talk ya greedy fat twat! But here ya go, I haven't seen it through these pages........ECW's November Rain Promo vid
  13. Anyone remember the ad for Cadbury's flake in the 80s that was banned for being 'sexually suggestive' (the one with a lizard running over the telephone). How did they get away with this in the 1969?

Dirty bitch. Haha. These vids are quality people. Other than the erm, 'awesomeness' of singing Lola!!!
  14. Was only watching 'Quake/Hogan t'other day and wondered how he was doing.I'd heard about his battle a while back and am deeply saddened. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Wrestling has lost another great.RIP 'Quake

  15. Its too late for me to find the photos as I'm up in a few hours for work, I'll sort that out tomorrow. But here are a nice big 10 for y'all to Google.....1) Jenny Platt, plays Violet in Corrie. Crap show, but if I'm at the folks and its on...I don't complain too much.2) An actress called Ludivine Sagnier.....check her out in the film, 'Swimming Pool'.3) Chloe Annett, the newest incarnation of Red Dwarf's Christine Kochanski.4) Dunno how the porn star/glamour model debate went as I skipped the last several pages but.....Monica Sweethart.5) Another who might be a bit on the line....the lovely Jessica Biel.6) Anybody who remembers ITV's piss poor 'Night-Time Soap', Night and Day must surely remember the ample charms of Georgina Walker....7) An FHM High St Honey, while all have been pretty hot, this is my fave.....Kayleigh Pearson. Sometimes looks cute and innocent, other times its just pure unadulterated filth. Great combo...8) Tina from S Club started to mature quite nicely towards the end.I said 10 but thats all I can think of for now.....

  16. It all started with the general Superstars video, which was done to Creed's "My Sacrifice". They also made an Austin video, to Creed's "Weathered", which lasted a few weeks before Austin walked out (so you can probably date that to some time in early 2002).

Are you sure? I know you're the Music Maestro and all, but I could have sworn that Austin's was also done to 'My Sacriice'.Great idea btw, Rick.
