Just watching Vintage Collection on the sky planner and can't explain how much cutting out the ring entrances spoils it for me. In my book the entrances and music is a huge part of the proceedings and although cut out for time reasons presumably, takes a lot away.

Mr. Anderson says he's close to signing a new deal with TNA. His lawyer and agent are currently working out the details and he expects the deal to be done within the week.

Fun and games with the WCW announce team.

A prominent UK promoter with a good track record of overseas talents has mentioned on Facebook that as far as he's aware 2 of the 3 currently can't get a Visa. It'll be a miracle if this goes ahead smoothly.
Â
Well, I saw Big Sexy wrestle in Deeside last year in that mess of a last show that 1pw put on. So we can safely say it's the other two.

You can see why Luger and Sting are such great mates, both men seem like the nicest blokes in the World. I enjoyed it, although it's not one I'd ever re-watch.
Â
That's contrary to a lot of the stuff i'd heard about Luger previously, being in it for the money and quite an aloof figure. He may have become more humble over time though.
-
Wow, i'm quite surprised that so many hated it. I thought Luger came across very well, humble without pushing his beliefs. It was an interesting watch in my opinion.
-
This is just wrong.

Tomorrow night's tapings should be interesting then....

Slowly working my way through 1996 Nitros and came across this once again. The greatest 45 mins of wrestling commentary in history.

I liked the palm trees, deckchairs etc that they'd use for Bash at the Beach and Beach Blast. And the Western theme for Spring Stampede. WWE should do more like this to differentiate their PPVs from each other and from regular TV that you get for free. They wouldn't need to spend that much money, not like the early 00s when they had giant sets and props like those great hooks on Backlash.
Â
The WCW setup's always seemed cooler to me as a kid growing up in the mid 90's. Nice touches to me were having Bash at the Beach actually on a beach, Hog Wild at the Sturgis Rally and countless shows from Caesar's Palace, MGM Grand etc. The Spring Break Nitros with the ringside pools were a nice touch too.
Â
Only Wrestlemania 9 comes close in that respect.

Sadly, WWE killed Goldberg with his year long run there.
Â
I don't agree. Some of the audience that was around for Goldberg's main WCW run had started to lose interest in the product by the time he appeared in the WWF, and most of the current audience wouldn't have been watching then either. Enough water has crossed under the bridge by now.
With the right build up and select vignettes, you could easily rehabilitate his standing in the Wrestling world.

Absolutely strange Jake Robert's one is at #41 too.

I thought

Yet more mind bending stuff from WWE.com

Dixie didn't come over quite as badly as I thought she would. In fact, the whole angle wasn't horiffic as I'd expected, but like most others, my expectations were on the floor to begin with.
I'm quite interested to see where they're going with this to be honest. God knows they need a boost before Bound for Glory as the buyrate will be embarassingly low even by TNA standards at this rate.
-
Bret Hart vs Yokozuna at WM9 & WM10 in the main. Don't think they faced each other in between either.
Â
Not on pay per view, but there is a Coliseum Video steel cage match.
-
Richard Keys interrupting Summerslam 92 to bring us news of the clash of the titans between Norwich and Forest.
Â
-
Sadly, when I first saw the promos for Bound for Glory I even went to the extent of booking a lieu day off work for the morning after as I was looking forward to it. Now, I couldn't give less of a shit. The build-up has been atrocious.
All the momentum leading on from excellent pay per views like Slammiversary last year has gone down the tubes. So disillusioned with TNA at the moment.

The only person I could imagine being worse than Feinstein is that No-Kayfabin guy.

Uuuuuuugh, uuuuuuuugh, uuuuuuuuugh, how did you, uuuuuuugh, get started in the business?

The 2001 revamped WCW stuff always fascinates me. With WCW and ECW going tits up at the same time, and all the Indy wrestlers who wound up with TNA when they launched, there'd have been so much talent to play with. I wonder how that would have played out.
Â
I remember a cracking thread on here once, about Bischoff's proposed reboot and filming Nitro on the roof of a Vegas hotel. Especially with how the WWF's invasion angle turned out, it's a damn shame it never happened.
-
That's good news at least. With the rapidly decreasing star power, collecting cheques while not appearing on TV is a luxury that the company can no longer afford. With a bit of luck he'll be back on and included on the UK Tour.
-
True, but technically it's Impact Wrestling I suppose.
-
Thing is, Ian, I reckon they had to try. People like you and me were sitting behind our computer screens saying "they have to go on the road, the Impact Zone is killing the product".
Â
Exactly. You only have to go through some six month old threads to see that was a constant theme on the board.
Â
I'm still tempted to say that the problem wasn't the fact it was Orlando more than anywhere else, just that they were there *too* long. It reached the stage where nothing got over and the local fans in the city were accustomed to their free entry wrestling show and had seen everything before. What's to say the same thing won't happen in Vegas given the time? Orlando is also a touristy city.
Â
I'd like to see some rotation take place, maybe two months of tapings in Vegas before moving to other hotbeds like Toronto, Philly and New York, for a similar run. But are they going to have a free venue like the Impact Zone again? Despite not being able to sell tickets there, it was a pretty good deal they had. If they decide to run Orlando again, I wonder if Disney/MGM would take them like for WCW Worldwide.

I dont know what will happen. Spike dont want to get rid of wrestling, though. So whatever happens, this the company you see every Thursday will probably still be around. Its all about who owns it, though. If someone came in with a good offer, the Carters would sell. But there's only Spike who would buy it. And a lot of people expect this to happen if worst comes to worst. They bought Bellator. And TNA would be a much easier sell than Bellator, because it does well on the channel. For me TNA has to be sold, because its a fucking mess. Whoever buys it should stick the dynamite under it and destroy the lot. If Spike buy it, TNA needs to disappear. They need to have a clear slate. They need to get rid of Tenay, get rid of Christy Hemme's ring announcing, get rid of that fucking horrendous name, stop calling the show Impact, change the colour scheme, move to Vegas or somewhere and bring in people with a clue. TNA is just a dead company. Nobody will take it seriously because its got no credibility. Its got no money either, so if they go back to a studio, they'll be doing it with a glorified indy roster. This promotion needs a shot in the arm. They wont get it under the Carters. They've had 11 years to create a star. They never did. They've had 11 years to create revenue streams. They never did. Someone else needs to take over.
Â
Agreed. Would it even have to be a 'good' offer at this stage though? It's clear their heart isn't in it any more, and I include Dixie in that too. It's likely they will just keep it ticking along with a reduced roster (and the same old 0.9 rating) until something is sorted.
Impact wrestling thread - It's a Don West tribute thread now!

In all seriousness, will anyone in the world apart from Anderson's accountant, have missed Mr Anderson during his absence? Sure TNA have a small roster, but unless he's coming back in for dramatically less money, why not spend it on someone like MVP or John Morrison, who are at least new faces. Mr Anderson's done bugger all really and isn't likely to do so.
