  1. Yeah the Penn vs Gracie fight was a bit underwhelming.Still nice to see it anyway but I'd like to have seen BJ go for the kill a bit more.

And Magnum, that Rioheroes stuff sounds mental. This is the first I've heard of it.Where did you find that?

  2. Sorry...just a big fight in the crowd right in the middle of the main event. The camera actually cut away from the fight in the cage to film it a few times, which was a bit odd but added to the whole outlaw feel Ebb mentioned.
  3. Yeah by the 12th everyone(including Clottey and his corner) knew there was no way he could win the decision anyway so he should have just thrown caution to the wind I think.I'd rather throw everything out there and get knocked out than just try to survive and regret it after.

Maybe he'll take comfort in the fact he went the distance with Manny while De La Hoya,Hatton and Cotto couldn't but I think part of him will look back with regret and thinking he could have done better.

  4. Don't know if this is the place for this but is anyone else having problems with posting?

It's only started happening the last couple of days but when I try to submit a post sometimes it works fine but most of the time it just doesn't post at all.Weird.

    Cheers in advance

EDIT- This post took 3 attempts before it worked.

  5. Wonder what the sun's headline would be if he was posting on here?

Bulger Killer Was Chris Benoit Fan.

We can reveal today that sick Jamie Bulger killer Jon Venables was a fan of child-killer Chris Benoit. While Jamie's family still have to suffer with their loss, Jon Venables spent his days and nights posting on Benoit-worship site 'The UKFF'.

The internet forum, which has a BNP-inspired logo, spends most of it's time:

    - Talking about the killers 'workrate'

    - Telling SICK jokes about cancer-stricken angel JADE GOODY

    - MOCKING poor STEPHEN GATELY

    - HARRASSING wrestling promoters like STEPHEN GAUNTLEY

    - TEASING the handicapped mentalists on their board like MAB and 'VICTOR C'

One insider, who goes by the violent name of 'Carbomb' said 'it's sick. They constantly tease people and praise Chris Benoit, despite the fact he violently murdered kids, just like Jon Venables. I worry about immigrants. I think anyone who murders kids like poor sweet Jamie Bulger and poor little Daniel Benoit should be killed.'

    Haha classic

Although you might wanna change your username....they'd probably think its a tribute to Chris Benoit ;)

  6. Can't wait to see this. Some real good fighters involved.Warren,Askren,Wallhead,Cummings,Hornbuckle and Curran are the ones I'm most familiar with.

I hope to see 'Judo' Jim Wallhead win the WW tourney. He was one I was sure UFC would have signed by now to be honest.Maybe the fact he's another Rough House WW went against him possibly causing another AKA situation where 3 WWs won't fight each other.

  7. Penn vs Machida is one I've been meaning to watch for a while.Keep meaning to get some of them Hero's DVDs.

I'm gonna seek out the remainder of the non-UFC Penn fights now. I was a fan when they happened, but the fight were not as readily available as they are now.

I wanna get the BJ vs Renzo fight from K-1 in Hawaii 2005 on DVD.I think it's on youtube but it's not the same to me.

The only other fights he had outside UFC were Duane Ludwig from K-1 and the Gomi and Rodrigo Gracie fights from the Rumble On The Rock DVD set.

It's just the Renzo and Ludwig fights that are tricky to find.

  8. Watched Pride 29:Fists Of Fire tonight.Decent show.

    PRIDE1009-front.jpg

    Mario Sperry vs Hirotaka Yokoi

    Fabricio Werdum vs Tom Erikson

Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua vs Hiromitsu Kanehara

    Igor Vovchanchyn vs Yoshiki Takahashi

    Kazuhiro Nakamura vs Stefan Leko

Sergei Kharitonov vs Mu Bae Choi

    Kiyoshi Tamura vs Aliev Makhmud

Alistair Overeem vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson vs Murilo 'Ninja' Rua

Mirko 'Cro Cop' vs Mark Coleman

Highlights of this one for me were

Little Nog vs Overeem-Really good fight. At the start it looks like Overeem's striking will be too much for Nog but he weathers the storm and earns the decision.Nog just had better cardio and ground control and also nearly finished an exhausted Overeem standing near the end.

Shogun vs Kanehara-Shogun's last fight before the famous GP tournament of 2005.He just destroyed Kanehara with kicks, knees and finished with the trademark soccer kicks and stomps. This was fairly impressive because Cro Cop couldn't finish Kanehara in 15 minutes and it took Overeem almost 2 rounds. It took Shogun about 2 minutes.

    mauricio_shogun_rua_vs_hiromitsu_kanehara_pride_29.jpg

Cro Cop vs Coleman -This was classic prime Cro Cop.Coleman couldn't take him down which meant only one ending was likely.Mirko battered Coleman with hooks and finally a big uppercut then followed up with a brutal kick to Coleman's head on the ground.

    cop-cole.jpg

Rampage vs Ninja-This was the first time I'd seen this fight. It's well known for the decision where Rampage got the nod from the judges and most people didn't agree with it(including Bas,Mauro and even Rampage himself).I did think Ninja should have won but it was a closer fight than I anticipated and not as bad a robbery as I expected from reading about it.

Good fight though and cool to see the rare sight of Page with the Afro.

    0.jpg

Tamura vs Makhmud-Not really a highlight but worth a watch for all the wrong reasons.Tamura catches Aliev with a brutal knee to the 'pills' as Bas put it.Makhmud is down for ages, then the round ends.He comes out for round 2 and seems fine, then he waves at the ref that he wants out.Ref ignores him so he fights on only to wave the fight off again shortly after prompting his corner to throw in the towel.Odd fight.

Plus classic a Igor Vovchanchyn KO on Takahashi.Brutal knockout that had Takahashi slumped up the ropes.

There's a real cool extra on this DVD too.Backstage with Bas Rutten where Bas shows you round the empty Saitama Super Arena before the show. You get to see Wanderlei posing in the Pride ring for some goofy Japanese media stuff and his face is priceless when he realizes Bas is ringside taking the piss with a cameraman.Plus you see Mauro doing forward rolls on the floor backstage,Yoshida cookies, and just Bas pissing about backstage.

Cool stuff like this really makes me miss Pride.I love the UFC,WEC,Strikeforce etc but Pride had a bit of fun with it.MMA is such a serious sport it's nice to see a more fun side to it like this.

  9. Oh yeah my Rumble On The Rock set came today

Looking forward to that. Not keen on the way the DVD box is designed though.Looks good on the outside but the discs are in plastic sleeves inside instead of the usual clip thingys that hold the discs in.Weird but looks a good set.

I'll be getting the Superbrawl ones next and some Cage Rage,K-1,Hero's etc.

I've been trying to get all the old Pride DVDs aswell.Last night I watched Pride 1 and had the 'pleasure' of sitting through Severn/Kimo.I hadn't seen it before but I'd heard it sucked....well it did.Perversely entertaining though listening to Quadros and Bas totally frustrated on commentary.Nathan Jones fought on the card aswell which I never knew about and from what I saw he was as shit at MMA as he was pro wrestling

  10. Yeah I love all the behind the scenes stuff. The 2 disc UFC DVDs are a big improvement, think the first was 83 with the GSP-Serra rematch.Glad they've stuck with it.

Great stuff, you get the countdown, the weigh in's and fighter interviews...which is the pre-fight, post fight (in cage) and post fight interviews with each of the fighters, it's kind of irritating why they edit the interviews from the actual show on disk 1, that dont make much sense but at least they include em.

That is annoying.I'd rather they put it all in order so disc 1 would be Countdown, press conference, weigh ins and the prelims then disc 2 with the main card fights with the post show stuff and behind the scenes etc.

Then they could leave the pre-fight videos and Rogan interviews where they should be.

  11. Yeah it was Sinclair or Pryce for me.Went with Sinclair just because he stopped Pryce last time they fought.Should be a good one though.Definitely think the winner of this fight will take the tournament.

  12. Childish i know but saw this on Frank Warren's Wiki

    Wiki Clicky

Warren is an Arsenal FC supporter and has a long term boyfriend. Since the shooting, Frank has had to be the "man" in the relationship and no longer on the receiving end of the pitch. He has mentioned previously he does miss the feeling of having his boyfriend rip through his anus, however he has since found a hot indian curry as a like-for-like replacement

    Good stuff.

  13. Yeah,I'm looking forward to Prizefighter on Friday, always enjoy them.

    First round fights are

    Prince Aaron vs George Hillyard

    Bradley Pryce vs Neil Sinclair

    Steve O'Meara vs Martin Concepcion

    Danny Butler vs Brett Flournoy

Should be good.I'm going with Sinclair to come out on top but should be some good fights.

  14. Yeah most of the Takada fights I've seen seemed dodgy in one way or another.

Only one I've seen that definitely wasn't was the fight with Tamura at Pride 23.Tamura just battered him with leg kicks for about 10 minutes and then knocked him spark out.

I remember reading about a fight between Takada and Trevor Berbick that was supposed to be worked but Takada started shooting and fucked Berbick up with leg kicks.Might have been in the UWFi days that one.

  15. So. Gracie and Shamrock seemed delighted after their fight at UFC 5. I'm glad someone enjoyed it. The show only went to add to my love for Dan Severn. He seemed to explode out of nowhere at times too.

UFC 6 was good fun. I can see why Abbott vs. Taktarov was described as "must-see". It was grinding my gears for a while, but it's probably one of the more dramatic UFC fights I've seen. Both guys were absolutely shattered so I don't mind. As for earlier fights, the first round had all sorts of goodness. My favourite being Patrick Smith EXPLODING out at the start with a kick.

Was that the one where he just ran at his opponent on the opening bell and knocked him on his arse with a Muay Thai front kick?

I liked Pat Smith.I was surprised to learn he still fights. His last fight he lost a decision to Kevin Jordan as recently as August 09.Before that he beat Brad Imes in 28 seconds.

  16. Saw the Dan Hardy/Akihiro Gono fight for the first time too, nice little fight it might be worth checking out. Hardy's first fight in the UFC, he looked good but you have to wonder what it all have been a little differently if Gono had a little more steam behind his left hand, he caught Hardy with it constantly.

I loved Hardy-Gono.It was a real close, competitive fight and at the time I wished it would have been on the main card,Gono's entrance was main card worthy on it's own.

I was at UFC 89 and while it's not the best card we got over here it gets shat on more than it deserves IMO.

A lot of the best fights were on the prelims and were never aired.Hardy-Gono,Etim-Stout and even Eklund-Schiavo were all very enjoyable. Then the main card had the Taylor-Lytle war.

Not a great show but not as bad a card as it's made out to be.

  17. yeh, its a great fight. That was the first fight where Diaz showed his striking chops. Strange that the punch that landed KO'd Lawler, ive seen Lawler take much bigger shots than that, guess he just hit him on the sweet spot.

Ive read that the rematch hasnt taken place because Diaz and Lawler are friends now, no ones wanting the rematch, which is a shame.

Fuck, friendships are ruining MMA haha.Agree on the KO punch, didn't look all that hard but just completely surprised Lawler, landed on the chin and he never saw the punch coming at all.

It should also be pointed out that the scheduled main event for this card was meant to be Kevin Randleman vs Pedro Rizzo. The fight never took place as Randleman slipped on the concrete backstage, knocking himself out and having to be taken to hospital. No mention of any of this is made on the DVD, and the disc is edited as if the fight was never scheduled to take place in the first place.

 WTF never heard about that before

  18. Watched UFC 47 last night.Great card, one of the best UFC shows I've seen.

    UFC 47:It's On

    Genki Sudo vs Mike Brown

Cool seeing Brown in the UFC.Good little fight too with a nice finish.Short and sweet.Shame Sudo retired,he was a really fun fighter to watch and his entrances were legendary. For some reason though, his entrance here was cut from the DVD

    Jonathan Wiezorek vs Wade Shipp

Sloppy fight, not much more to say.I don't think they had either guy back which tells you something. Both guys are gassed in like 2 minutes.

    Chris Lytle vs Tiki Ghosn

Tiki actually wasn't doing too badly until it hit the ground.Lytle wins by fucking headlock of all things hahaha

    Mike Kyle vs Wes Sims

Wild, short fight with a brutal finish. Some controversy as usual with these 2.Sims had Kyle in a guillotine early in the fight and claims Kyle bit him to escape,in the extras he shows the bite mark on his chest. So Kyle bit him then did this

    post-10-1118357695.gif

    Nice guy ;)

    Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler

Everyone knows about this one.Crazy fight and a highlight reel finish.Nobody expected Diaz to stand with Lawler and it made for a real stand up war.Surprised Strikeforce hasn't already done the rematch by now.

    post-10-1118357545.gif

    Andrei Arlovski vs Cabbage Correira

This was originally supposed to be the first Arlovski-Sylvia fight but Sylvia was suspended and Cabbage stepped in on short notice.I'm sure Rogan said one day's notice which is nuts.Cabbage shows his iron chin once again and is taking everything Arlovski can throw at him until the ref jumps in when Cabbage is knocked down in round 2.

Joe Rogan said the stoppage was too early but I'm not so sure.It may have looked early but Cabbage looked fucked long before he was knocked down and like Rogan said after,Cabbage wasn't complaining about the stoppage.

Too tough for his own good.

    Yves Edwards vs Hermes Franca

The only fight to go the distance.Good close, back and forth fight.Yves takes the decision but Franca gave a good showing and looked particularly dangerous on the ground at times.

    Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz

Huge main event. The buzz and atmosphere surrounding it was electric from the pre fight video to the entrances and throughout the fight itself. The crowd is deafening and split almost down the middle in their support. The pre fight video is awesome with Tito banging on about not wanting to fight his friend and Chuck basically calling bullshit on it and saying they never agreed not to fight.Exciting fight and another highlight reel finish.Tito's excuse this time was that he got poked in the eye

    post-10-1118362410.gif

Highly recommend anyone picking up this show and it's only

  19. speaking of Ortiz, even though he was the 'face' of the UFC for a long time (pretty much from around the times of UFC 25-44) and had a bit of a personality about him, it's never really mentioned that his fights were usually boring as shit. Ortiz tactics have always pretty much been to lie in guard and throw sporadic elbows.

The only time Tito's been in exciting fights is when his opponent can shut down his takedowns and force him to fight. Back around the times when he was on top though, the level of opposition couldn't do that.

    Thoughts?

I'd agree a lot of his fights were pretty boring but I suppose his over the top personality and crazy post fight antics kinda made up for it in some cases.

The other night I watched Tito vs Vitor Belfort from UFC 51.I thought it was one of Tito's better fights.Belfort provided enough danger on the feet to keep it alive and the post fight stuff with Tito nearly starting fights with Chuck and Ken Shamrock was wild.

It was also during this fight that this happened

    2n0seu0.jpg

The most disappointing UFC ever for me has to be UFC 61: Bitter Rivals. What a fucking abortion that was. One half of the co-main event didn't get started (Tito-Ken II) and the other was the most boring, plodding affair since the Shamrock-Severn "superfight".

That was a real disappointment.Tito-Ken was a huge anti-climax after a whole season of TUF was devoted to hyping it up.I thought after that, well Arlovski-Sylvia 3 will be fireworks but they just circled around looking at each other for 5 rounds. After the first 2 I was sure it wouldn't go the distance.

revieved my two 5 event sets today...5 Rumble on the Rocks shows, 5 Superbrawl shows.

Looking forward to checking that shit out, cost
