Nevermore: New Album In May -
I've noticed a lot of Iron Maiden talk on here, and no love for the two records which featured Blaze Bayley on vocals. A lot of people say that he didn't suit Iron Maiden, especially as they took on a different style from the Bruce Dickinson stuff, but Steve Harris was pretty accommodating and wrote around Blaze's voice.
Â
Anyways, I'd reccommend any of Blaze Bayleys solo stuff, his latest album "Promise and Terror" is amazing, and the one before "The Man Who Would Not Die" is just as good. Then again, I'm a fan boy and would tell any metal fan to go pick up any one of his 5 studio albums.
Â
Some tracks to listen out for:
Â
God of Speed
Blackmailer
Smile Back at Death
Stare at the Sun
Robot
Watching the Night Sky
Born as a Stranger
The Man Who Would Not Die
Â
the problem that Bayley faced in Maiden was that the fans were never going to accept him as a replacement for Bruce due to thier own inverted snobbery.Steve harris could have written epic tune after epic tune and Blaze Bayley could have put on perfect vocals, but the maiden 'hardcore' would have crawed "but he isn't Bruce Dickinson!"
Â
Blaze's solo stuff is very good for the most part. 'Silicon Messiah' is a great album for the most part, and the follw up, 'Tenth Dimension', is one of the best metal albums I have ever heard, and I still listen to it constantly.
Â
The third solo album, 'Blood And Belief', was a major step-back in my opinion. It has decent moments in 'Ten Seconds' and the ultra powerful 'Regret' (Bayley's emotion , considering everything that was going on in his life at that time, in that song is a wonder to behold), but very little else is memorable and it just comes across as sloppy work. The line-up on the first two albums was a very strong one, and after Rob Naylor and Jeff Singer left, it really showed on the recording of that album, and then he made the colossal error of getting rid of Andy Sneep because he "couldn't make them sound good". Sorry, but if Andy Sneep can't make you sound good, then no-one can.
Â
He is back on the right track now that he has got a decent band behind him again with Nick & Dave Bermudez and getting in a decent guitar player and drummer (the guys he had on his Alive In Poland DVD seemed to be guys he found in the pub at the last minute). 'The Man Who Would Not Die' was a strong starting block for the new band, and 'Promise And Terror' is another step in the right direction.

As my mate pointed out to me the other day "Dean, you are incredibly gay for Ivan Moody and Five Finger Death Punch these days!"
Â
Not just FFDP but also his previous work with MotoGrater & Ghost Machine.
Â
Did anybody catch the Pantera tribute covers CD that Metalhammer released last year? Evile's cover of Cemetary Gates blew me away.
Â
i got that. I didnt think it was anything special, but was decent in places.
Â
And for the record, Five Finger Death Punch will not be remembered 2 years from now

currently listening to Am I Blood - The Truth Inside The Dying Sun. brilliant album, available for free from their website

watched from within last night - shit film but ending wasnt to bad
Â
Â
watched adventrueland other day , was shit as well
Â
gonna watch bronson tonight, mate keeps telling me how good it is
Â
Adventureland is the most self-indulgent piece of shit ive ever seen.
Â
i really liked Bronson, but it is not for everyone. im a big fan of Stanley Kubrick movies, and the style in which Bronson is made is very reminiscent of a Kubrick movie. If your watching it on DVD, the Director's Commentry is very good also and sheds a lot more light on the film and its context

i couldnt stand the original Blair Witch, sack of shite... not seen the sequal but been kinda put off it.. And how did the Butterfly Effect get sequels???
Â
If you saw the fit short-haired blonde getting shagged on a glass table in Butterfly Effect 3 you might think slightly better of them.
Â
Â
I meant in the sense that
Â
<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler
Changing tack, does anyone know where to get a Multi region or region free version of China Town Kid on DVD I need oen as wanna give it as an Xmas pressie to me bro
Â
they just tagged on the name of the previous movie so that people might go see it based on name value, rather than making a linked story from. kind of like S Darko, the 'sequal to Donnie Darko

Â
recently picked up Metalocalypse Season 2 on Region 1. Absolutely love the show. Any other fans?

The Usual Suspects isn't a gangster film.
Â
You shouldn't really look any further than Miller's Crossing.
Â
It sort of is. The main story is meant to revolve around the execution of a multi-million dollar heist. Heists are pulled off by gangsters
-
not specifficaly an italian mob movies, but good gangster films none the less
The Departed
Sexy Beast
The Usual Suspects

It's only unconventional in the sense that I remember her being nine, but Sally from Home & Away appears to have MILFed up:
Â
Have you seen her sex video? It shits on the Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton ones.
Â
She doesn't know the camera is there, does she? I seem to remember her bloke totally grinning and winking at the camera, but she doesn't appear to be aware of it all.
Â
No, she's completely oblivious, it's probably why it's better than most you'll see.
Â
and they're fucking on a water bed!
-
My "I'm never going to the cinema again" rule is killing me because I really want to watch Inglorious Basterds now! DAMMIT!
Â
Hoping for a decent download soon, but I'll prolly have to wait a couple of months.
Â
what made you come to such a ruling?

Poppycock. Broad's not played that well all series but there's something about this wicket that has really played into his hands and he was able to have an incredible spell yesterday where he just undid the Aussies. There'll be people who say it, but they should be firmly ignored. He's going to be seen as "the next Flintoff" though, no doubt.
Â
Declaration made! Let's see how the Aussies fare.
Â
I know he hasnt played well all series, but people will base it around how he's played in the deciding test match. I bet you some idiot will say that Broad should get an honour of some kind purely based on this fifth test match
-
The thing thats going to be really annoying is if England win the match, and therefore the series, there are going to be thousends of rubber-neckers claiming that Stuart Broard should be given a knighthood. There was one goon in one of the papers a few weeks ago saying that Andrew Flintoff should have a knighthood aswell
-
Tim Curry was awesome as Pennywise.
Â
Did someone say Toy Story 3? I thought that wasn't happening because of Jim Varney being dead?
Â
it was announced months ago. And to be honest, how many of your casual movie goers are going to know who Jim Varney is/was. Toy Story is a sure-fire money maker for Disney, they won't cease production becasue a secondary charater vocal actor has passed away
-
Rachel Grant (or Professor Myang Li to the fans of Brainiac)
-
and she seems pretty thick
-
You nutter! It's a tedious, pretenious piece of shit with characters and dialogue and story that is so utterly desperate to be clever but is actually so fucking dumb that it makes Mr Bean look like a work of Shakespeare.
Â
The dialogue did my nut in most of the time. "Honest to blog.". Fuck off. The vast majority of it was cringeworthy more than anything else though.
Â
thank god i've found someone who hates that movie as much as i do
Â

in Public Enemies, did anybody else think the shoot-out in the house went on for way too long

Â
had him at 10/1, which means a
