  1. If you count the old NWA territories as separate entities, there's an absolute shitload. Ric Flair was Ric Flair wherever he went, for example.

Hmm, I hadn't considered that, that's a good point. Let's exclude them and set a start date from around 1990 onwards.

  2. Here's one that just came to me the other day, and that is as much a discussion point as it is a question. Who holds the record for playing the same character (or at least maintaining the same name and near-enough look) across most federations? I ask this, because Raven leapt to mind with ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA, ROH and countless indies, and I couldn't think of others. There are plenty that skipped between WCW and WWE, but ECW, TNA and ROH stints make his pretty impressive. Anyway, who else can do better?

  3. The last episode of The Office (6.06 - The Lover) was one of the best ones ever. Every now and then, the show teases falling from its former glory, but this was a 21 minute power house. Laugh out loud funny, great character moments, great writing. Virtually flawless. I never thought another show could be better than AD, but 106 episodes in and still this good, I don't think anything can touch The Office now. Phenomenal.

  4. :yinyang: Is there anywhere that has a list of every original ECW DVD that was released?

I'm that bored at work, that I went to Amazon and sorted by release date, working from the earliest to most recent. I've bunched some events together by name/year too in places, just to make it easier to read. Or so I thought anyway This might not be perfect, but it's a start. I assumed you meant Region 2/Delta releases too, so that's just these.

  5. 15 to 1 was brilliant too. Question or Nominate was a brilliant idea for the last round, especially when you had a really confident quizzy type going "question...question...question" and just batting them out the park, one after another.

Then occasionally, you'd see the deep voiced Laura holding the prize, which was normally some fucking ugly antique vase sort of thing. Such a dignified programme that you feel may not float today with out jazzing up or a viewer phone-in game tacked onto it.

  6. I don't know if anybody here watches Countdown daily (if you don't, you fucking should, you heathens. Sky+ gives you no excuse to miss it), but shortly we'll be entering the knockout stages of this 'series' and the ultimate winner is going to be this terrified little long haired geek with loads of ticks who reels off multiple 9 letterers and always gets the numbers. And he can "speed cube", solving Rubix Cubes in front of your very eyes in about 30 seconds. Great viewing.

  7. I just watched The Strangers and wow...what a tense, hopeless, despairing picture that is. I was kind of expecting it to be a bit more mainstream, like a slightly scarier Panic Room with less plot and more violence, but nope...it's all tension and terror cranked to eleven. Quite beautifully orchestrated in terms of tension and scares, too, so if that's your thing I'd recommend it. If you don't like that feeling though, don't bother. There's practically no story at all. It's just an 80-minute exercise in suspense techniques and trying to scare you out of your mind.

Watch in pitch darkness with all your doors unlocked and see how long you can keep them that way.

I think I might have moaned about it in the first film thread, but I thought it was fucking garbage. It set out to deliver everything you described above, and acheived absolutely none of it. And as far as these sorts of OMGTHISWILLMAKEYOUJUMP films go, it's not that great either.

  8. Just watched the latest episode of The Office and I am disgusted.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

Six years worth of backstory for a payoff parodying a YouTube viral. That's the best they can come up with? The writers should be ashamed. It's double bad, as the episode up until that point was gold.

I cannot believe it. The shark has officially been jumped. Gutted.

No way, that totally fitted in with the show. Michael and co absolutely would have planned that the second they saw that video, so it's completely in line with the characters. Plus, they needed a way of avoiding a straight up exchanging vows scene, and intercutting between all that stuff was the perfect way to do it. Plus Creed grabbed his balls. It might not have played so well here because I believe the viral was a way bigger deal in the States than in the UK, where most people probably haven't heard of it. I was terrified that episode would be more sentiment than comedy, but it was awesome.

Couldn't agree more. A satisfying pay off to one of the best episodes ever, in my opinion. I think The Office is excellent as mixing sentiment with comedy in just the right measures and only when it has to, and they nailed it here.

Jim's toast stole the show for me though. No matter how far the show veers away from its original central themes of akwardness within social interraction, it only takes one scene like that to remind you just how brilliant they are at it when they want to be.

EDIT: Oh, and Creed sat there eating his noodles in that fantastic opening sequence was hilarious too.

  9. Ohh, it's a list of results your after? Sorry.

Well, it's possibly the best wrestling site on the net, and I've got time, so,

House shows, TV tapings, the works should be there. It's normally fairly exhaustive. Hope that helps.

  10. Does anyone know where I can find a list of all taped ecw show from 93-01! I'm trying to piece together my collection?

I could be wrong, but the very site they're talking about just above our posts here might be able to help.

  11. Lie To Me Season 2 started last night on Sky 1, but I haven't watched it yet. Am really bastard excited all the same, it was probably my favourite new show of this year.

Staying with Sky 1, I've got high hopes for that Modern Family show, or whatever it's called, starting next week. The adverts made me laugh a lot, so hopefully it won't let me down.

Other than that, I've just got another probably phenomenal Office US to watch when I get home tonight

    [close spoiler]

");document.close();, and to prepare for when the E4 repeats catch up to it, I've Series linked the new series of Scrubs too.

Regarding Scrubs, I'm about halfway into series 2, and think no differently than I did at about this point in Series 1. It's a totally watchable show and I'm glad to have a 20 minute blast of entertainment when I might need it, but:

    a) How anybody can call themselves a 'fan' of it when it's so fucking faux-serious and preachy completely amazes me. It's well, well too shit to actually announce yourself as a lover of it, I think and

    b) JD is still an almighty cunt, him and Elliot is a crap relationship I don't totally believe and I hope

things don't work out for him in the end. Carla and Turk, and their relationship is the closest thing to a reality-based scenario in the show too. So far, anyway.

Also, the season two opener when that cunt with the guitar is singing at the characters "I can't get to sleep..." etc, is one of the worst things I've ever had the misfortune of seeing in my life. Shit song, shit idea, and a wasteful, lazy execution of the payoff to a Season 1 Finale that left some pretty cool issues in the air.

  12. Has anyone watched Eastbound and Down yet?.. Its already aired in USA, but the premier in UK starts on Thursday on FX.

From what I've read so far it has all the makings of a hilarious show. With the Anchorman team behind it.. it should be pretty awesome!

I watched the first episode and wasn't impressed at all. I'm not really a fan of Danny McBride and it was wasn't funny at all.

Largely agree with this. Will at least give it one more, but a painfully average show, with only one or two even remotely funny bits. I don't know what they're aiming for with the main character, but he's neither so obnoxious you hate him nor so obtruse that he's funny. We'll see how it goes this week, but I'll be out by Episode 3 I think, if it doesn't get much better.

  13. Because I can't be arsed to google for this info, can somebody tell me whether WWE will be doing the Box Office 3 for 2 this year with the last 3 Pay-Per-Views, and if not, which will be SBO and which will be Sky Sports?

    Cheers

  14. I know the common word was that he pissed A LOT of people off backstage in the WWF, but can anybody actually give me some known stories from shoot interviews etc of the things Don Callis did to wind people up, and who in particular he had run-ins with? Cheers

  15. New question: Does anybody know of any footage that exists in some deep dark vault of the Public Enemy vs The Smoking Gunns match that went on before the Survivor Series? Cheers.

    From Survivor Series 1995?

I've never watched it, or seen the footage available on a compilation. Sorry about that.

Yeah, that SSeries. I know it was a dark match, but it was basically a tryout for TPE I think, so I wondered if, like those ones that pop up on Youtube, it had been taped.
