  1. Living out of the hospital, the wife and I caught up on a shitload of our US TV last night thanks to my laptop. Subsequently, what did people think of the latest Office?? Probably be best to stick it in spoilers for the people watching it at UK pace.

I loved the ending. You figured they were building the Jim/Pam tension to that conclusion, but the Brian reveal was good. I've often wondered what would make a suitable finale for the show from the fly-on-the-wall show point of view, which has basically just been abuse of a filming style rather than a loyal format the UK Office stuck to. I liked how they had acknowledged that the crew basically just wanted to stick with Jim and Pam and the rest of the Office was just bonus footage for them. Glad the show is ending but very pleased the final season has been a huge bounce back from the sinking brick that was Season 8. Enjoyable telly all round.

  2. Again, pardon what probably seems an overly personal share session with you lot, I just don't quite have it in me to talk to most of my friends about this yet. We got told this morning that interim results of the test have said he has Downs Syndrome, and the interim test doesn't normally veer so we should consider this the result. It's a lot to take in at the moment and I'm not quite sure what I'm thinking, or will likely think in the upcoming weeks. He's doing amazingly well with all his actual problems and its important for us to remember that this is not a problem, it's his life. It's just A LOT to wrap our heads around. Thanks for the outlet as always, I'm sure ill be back in pretty bloody soon.

  3. Thanks to all for the kind messages. Always feel a bit daft saying it, but it really is a fantastic extra support.

I'm relieved to report he has picked up a bit since Friday. He's progressing very well with his breathing, but we've got a bit of sweat on now as they're going to take a blood sample to test his chromosomes for Downs Syndrome. We probably won't find out the results for a week and its partly just precautionary on a few suspicions they had when he was born, but its something to possibly prepare for. But he is doing really well otherwise, requiring less and less machines to help every day, responding to everything better, and we were able to briefly hold him yesterday so that's ace. Fingers crossed that continues. So we're getting there, hopefully it all continues the same way and we can be looking towards getting home soon. My missus amazes me more and more everyday. I'm gonna have to buy her something fucking good for this.

  4. Well, I don't want to spooge all over other threads and I'm not yet ready to be arsed to fill in all real friends and family on all the details just yet, but I've always found the forum a nice place to unload amongst a load of strangers, albeit some ones I feel I know surprisingly well.

So my last few days have been a bit mad. Mrs NEWM started having contractions on Wednesday, and we finally got into hospital at 8pm on Thursday night, but after 16 hours of labour, he still wasn't coming and his heart rate had dropped so we had to go in for an emergency cesarean. The baby came out Friday lunchtime at a whopping 9lbs 5, but was immediately taken to neonatal care as he was having trouble breathing. The wife was in was recovery for four hours after as the spinal cord epidural left her numb from the head down, and as he was getting loads checked, we couldn't see him for 4/5 hours after he was born. He had to have his heart and brain scanned as well as X-rays done to see what was causing his problem and after a while they had it down to some fluid in his lungs. He's currently on breathing apparatus, basically a load of tubes on poor sod, but his big size helps as he has more resources, and he's fighting it well. We can see him any time we want, and he's improved since yesterday so we're obviously just hoping for steady progress day on day. I love the shit out of him already, and though the wife is recovering well from the C-Section, his state is tough on her. Keep fingers crossed for baby NEWM and hopefully I can threadshit in here more often talking shite about my family.

I'm fucking so fucking fucked its untrue, but my wife is now my new hero for having to go through that whole thing and my son is working his little arse off just to try and get better, so I can't exactly whinge. But I'm absolutely bollocksed and sharing with you lot has been a strangely nice realease, so thanks!

  5. The Orton matches were shit, I thought. Almost without exception I can't stick Triple H/Orton matches. HHH has some wickedly poor chemistry with some guys sometimes, and Orton's the top one just over Michaels for me.

The rest of No Mercy was okay, (particularly the class Punjabi Prison match), and I accept that they had to book some stuff on the hop due to Cena getting crocked. It's the Title though, they could have done any number of things that didn't result in two Triple H/Randy Orton contests.

  6. Don't know what made me think of this, but when Candice Michelle kabonked her head in that match against Beth Phoenix, what in the fuck was Beth thinking dragging her by her NECK AND HEAD into the middle for the pin?? Madness.

    From about 7:45 in

if you haven't a clue what I'm on about or if you haven't seen a Diva take a mad bump for a while.
  7. A stellar year. I have read Ian's Barlow/Baldwin post so many times and I still absolutely piss myself at it. For me, it's up there with Bound for Gory as the funniest post I can every remember on the form. #Pipebomb is making me laugh as I type.

Some fabulous others though. Actually nothing there I don't thing worthy of winning.

  8. That's something i like about Cena/Punk actually. It doesn't feel like it's done and i think there's still mileage in it in some form.

Agreed. It's got that Bret/Austin 'this will never be over as long as we're breathing' feel to it. I kind of hope they never attempt to definitively pay it off, it's one of the few examples ever in wrestling where I'm happy when they decide to insta-feud two guys a fortnight before the PPV.

  9. I'm gutted Hell No are winning this based on a few good segments and presumably because plenty of people don't watch Impact. TNA was actual good for much of this year, and Kaz and Daniels were amazing even when it wasn't. I ended up bumming them in the heel thread by accident so I'll leave it there. I hope more TNA viewers are still to vote.

  10. You can't underestimate the graft Heyman's put in trying to make Punk a top guy, but I had Daniels JUST edging out Bully Ray this year. Where the fuck did this brilliant prick come from? The piss takes, the middle finger glove, and FINALLY figuring out how to be an entertaining pro wrestler after his first thirty years as the highest profile example of a flippy spot monkey from that rotten crop of guys coming through in the late 90s. A revelation, just a shame it's ten years too late. He's brought Kaz up to nearly the same level too, he deserves a lot of credit for that. They remind me of early New Age Outlaws in their capacity as trouble-making dickheads, and like the Outlaws, whereas Daniels arguably had enough verbally to keep him on the roster (Dogg), Kaz was a total fucking waste of air time and a good physique (Gunn) before they got rolling. Ideally they let them carry on like this too, before the crowd turn them face like Beer Money. I'd be curious to see if Daniels can carry on this twat persona targeting heels instead.

  11. I went with Punk/Cena, because if anything I think it was underrated this year. The two have that lightening-in-a-bottle chemistry, which means the company can pair them up for any old show and its completely brilliant. That Raw confrontation with Bret in between was possibly the best bit of WWE TV all year, and their matches are simply phenomenal. Punk's only ever a headliner when he's opposite Cena, and in the moment it looks and feels like the biggest match in all of wrestling. The two characters perfectly and believably bounce off each other so well too. These two should feud once a year just on principle.

Bully Ray/Park would win weaker years though. That whole thing was a total blast, the match was great and we all gave more of a shit about both guys than we did before. The two biggest over-achievers in 2012 feuding together couldn't fail. Great stuff.

  12. There's barely a fanny hair between some if the others, but Brock/Cena wasn't getting touched for me this year. Like Ronnie, I've watched it five or six times and the drama is just fantastic every time. Both guys worked exceptionally hard, Cena proved himself as usual, and the blind fury in response to the result from some corners the next day was a cherry on top. Hogan moments don't come along much in the modern era, but when they do, it's only Cena that can do them. He was fucking incredible. We were crying and hugging in chat when he got the 3. I'm off to watch the match now.

  13. What's interesting is there are two wrestling personalities on there and Cyndi Lauper was the person who had to leave the show to go to Lou Albanos funeral.

In a similar bit of silliness, John Cena pops up in an episode to help out Sharon Osbourne. Wrestling was all over this one.

  14.

Matt Hardy calls in to Byte This with Lita on, a couple of days after that first time he ran in Raw and said "Adam" and "ROH" and all that. It's all just worked shooting at this point, but it's a fun listen anyway. Even in these (presumably pre-planned) circumstances, Hardy comes across as a loser.

  15. Just watched The Rockers vs La Resistance from Raw in March 05 as the first part of the best week of Marty Jannetty's life post-91. It made my belly all warm and nice when Shawn and Marty first appeared on screen together. It was really nice of them to do all that, and he was in proper good nick for it too.

Poor sod. They should buy him some new feet or whatever the fuck it is he needs.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the crowd have just found about Edge and Lita too. Edge took some right verbals from the crowd, BY FAR the most over he's ever been as a heel. Easily the most important moment in his career, in terms of making him a proper headliner. Lita was backstage in a segment but I'm looking forward to whenever they trot her out. I remember the boos absolutely murdering her segments around this time.

  16. ShortOrderCook is the best looking guy I've seen on any forum ever. Christ you're fit.

Phwoar, not half. I bet he looks at those pictures of The Rock in the gym and just thinks 'pft...whatever'. Also SOC, you could pull off druggy 2003 Jeff Hardy for your body paint theme there. With a much much better physique, obvs.

  17. Which Diva was HHH alledged to have been knocking off in the mid-00s? Was it Christy Hemme? I know they won't have wanted to pay her a quarter of a million for her second year, but she left well sooner than I thought she would at the end of 05.
