  1. Tammy Sytch arrested three times in three days:

The sad self destruction of the former Suinny, Tamara Sytch, 39, continued this past week with three arrests in three days. TMZ.com has the story up currently on the site.

Sytch, just recently out of rehab after admitting hitting rock bottom, was first arrested by police in Branford, CT, on Tuesday night at 8:55 p.m. for disorderly conduct involving a man living in the house she was with.

She was released Wednesday morning on $500 bond. She was then arrested a second time at 4:49 p.m. on similar charges on disorderly conduct charges involving a strangulation incident involving he same man, as well as violating a restraining order.

She was then released on Thursday on $25,000 bond. She was arrested at 8 p.m. on Thursday night for violating the same restraining order involving the same man. She was released earlier today on $2,500 bond.

    Damn.

  2. BeltfanDan has nothing to do with the issues, he was the one informed about things at first but he has done nothing wrong but protect his interests. Due to people going to him, other stuff spilled out from the people who were the centre point of the trouble. They have and are continuing to be dealt with. To be fair to him, he's helped sort some of them out so I tip my hat to him. He's one of the few good, trustworthy people in the belt game and is generally targeted because of his position, which is a tough one to deal with. Just want to make this clear with everyone.

I've kept low to deal with the trouble and made sure that the people who I deal with were put first and foremost to protect their business/deals and future interests. I've also been dealing with a very tough month or so at home which has taken my time up.

I'll try and get something up over the next few days because this thread will continue.

If you have any questions or anything else, shoot here or PM. I'll be happy to answer you as best as I can.

Thank-you for your support and for reading this thread.

    Regards

Hope things work out for you and it's nice to see you again.

  3. My thoughts are the same as wandshogun09. I can see why Ricky wants to come back not wanting the BRUTAL Pacquiao KO to be his last moment in the ring. I'd rather he didn't, there's nothing else for him to prove plus his only two losses were against Mayweather and Pacquiao.

  4. Its been a while since i was last collecting comics, (Wally west was still The Flash!), And I'm looking to get back into them.

With all the new 52 stuff, does anybody have any thoughts/advice on them? After having a look around, I'll be getting the collected volumes of The Flash and maybe Earth 2 as well.

I've recently read through "The Killing Joke", "Year One" and "City of crime" (which was just fantastic) and "Faces" all from the Batman series. All where really really good, with Killing joke and Faces being my favorites.

Batman and Batwoman. Snyder's Court of Owls/Night of the Owls is mostly a hit with me but it's had a couple of misses. Snyder's best work is American Vampire then Batman: The Black Mirror. Before you read Batwoman, I recommend you read Batwoman: Elegy, a great book telling her origin.

  5. Just watched Like Water again on DVD

It was just as good the second time around, a worthy tribute to the best fighter of this generation. Much like Wrestling With Shadows the makers picked the perfect time to make the documentary.

It has charm and style, whilst like other bio's like Senna it is done from one perspective and it is made to make you like the subject, it does not become overbearing with it. Seeing Anderson at home and at the gym makes you see the playful side of him, but it is his passion and anger when watching a friend fight at a smaller show that lets you see that Anderson is indeed very human. How he misses his family later on in the documentary only adds to this.

The soundtrack is also top-notch, especially at the end. They do dig the boot into Chael a bit, but he is a worthy baddie with his loud mouth and trash talk, the comments on Lance Armstrong even 2 years later have lost none of their shock value. Ed Soares actually comes across well and I am not sure how the makers wanted Dana to come across, at the end they show Dana happy as a camper putting the belt around Anderson like his approval marked a comeback from the backlash from Abi Dhabi (which in many ways it did with the public)

Overall, I cannot recommend it enough, any casual UFC/MMA fan should find something to enjoy and I am sure many non-fans could find the story simple enough to find it enjoyable. It shows Anderson as the best fighter in the world as the start but radiating discontent, but leaves you looking at the best fighter who is very human and has several dimensions to his character and is on his way to becoming the legend/all time great that he is today.

I'd like to buy Like Water: Anderson Silva. Awesome documentary with the makers of it lucking out covering what turned out to be one of the greatest fights in MMA history. Any extras on it?

i'm quite embarrased to say i still haven't seen it

Fix that ASAP. You won't regret it.

  6. Finished the first volume of AV this evening, really enjoyed it. Love Skinner Sweet as a character. Got volume 2 ordered straight away.

Good man. As soon as I read the first from the library, I looked for the second and found it. I rented the third volume as soon as I finished the second. Skinner Sweet is a great character. The fourth volume is out next month according to Wikipedia collecting #19-27.

  7. Funny you should mention American Vampire, I saw the first volume on sale yesterday and picked it up, look forward to starting.

Hope you like American Vampire as much as I do with how I talked it up. Please can I ask where and how much did you get it for?

  8. I got "Red Son" out of the library. It was quite fantastic.

That comic is amazing, one of the best things I've ever read.

I don't like reading comics on a computer & I can't afford to buy new graphic novels 3+ times a week so I pick up lots of stuff from the library & have done for a couple of years. They obviously don't have everything but they have a pretty good selection and I like the fact that it means I'll read lots of different things, a collection of 60s Silver Surfer comics one day, something like Wanted the next mixed with new stuff like they've just got some of the new 52 stuff in, so I've been reading a bit of that too. It's great I must've read well over a hundred graphic novels from the last couple of libraries I've lived and worked near. Go libraries!

My library is great for graphic novels. The best graphic novels I've read from the library: Batman & Robin: Batman Reborn, Batwoman: Elegy, Gotham Central, American Vampire, The Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time and Ultimate Spider-Man: Ultimate Collection, Volume One. I'd recommend them to people.

  9. I'm up to issue #9. I've liked it for the most part. Batman: The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder is better but his best work is American Vampire, I strongly recommend that series. Anyone else read the mentioned titles?

I keep thinking about picking this up, but I'm a bit anal and would feel it necessary to start at issue 1, so it may be a bit pricey to go all in right away. I may try and pick up 4 or 5 issues a month til I'm caught up with it

The way I've read American Vampire is through the volumes collecting the series and not through single issues. I came across American Vampire: Volume One collecting #1-5 from my library, read it, loved it and found they also had the second and third volumes to my delight. The series needs to be read in order because it charts the history of vampirism and events in the first volume build in the second and third volumes. American Vampire is a brilliant series, the first volume is probably the best one.

  10. I thought the first Matt Smith series was much better than the second one. I liked tonight's opener to Matt Smith's third series. I'd like to watch it again and see if a second viewing makes me like the episode more, the same or less. The only Doctor Who episodes of Matt Smith's I've watched more than once since the return of the series: The Eleventh Hour, The Time of Angels, The Doctor

  11. I've caught up with the new 52 batman now. Really loved the Court of Owls arc, Scott Snyder is brilliant, he has such a grip on the character and his story telling is fantastic.

I'm up to issue #9. I've liked it for the most part. Batman: The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder is better but his best work is American Vampire, I strongly recommend that series. Anyone else read the mentioned titles?
  12. I recommend the Ringside: Carl Froch special which was shown today. The show is one hour long showing the build to Carl Froch's fight with Lucian Bute, the full fight and interviews with the people involved. I watched the fight when it happened and this is the second time I watched it, reminding me of the beating Froch put on Bute.

  13. Look forward to reading that, Wand. If I could put a suggestion in...could you do one for Dan Henderson next? I've not long got a Hendo career comp so it'd be cool to see what fights to check out even though I know the answer is probably 'all of them'.

I was thinking of Shogun next but Hendo might be a better shout as he's fought in more places and through different eras. Plus I've already covered a lot of the Chute Boxe stuff in the Wand reviews. It was between Shogun, Hendo and Big Nog next. I'll probably go for Hop-along Hendo, although at the rate it's taking me to do these he'll probably have fought Jones, lost and retired or something by the time I get around to it.

I'd like either of them. My first choice would either be Hendo or Big Nog. I would have asked for Big Nog when you were trying to decide who to do next after finishing your Wandy career piece but I missed the chance!

  14. * Chuck Liddell-Vernon White being far more enteraining than i ever remember it being, Vernon gets some stick from the MMA community but fair play to him he went at Chuck.

    _tufc49%20liddell%20vs%20white4.jpg

For a long time this was my favorite UFC fight when I first became a fan, its just a all-action shootout and the bad blood and growing popularity of Chuck at the time helps as well.

The finish is sick and Chuck himself displays his granite chin as he took a good few flush of Vernon.

UFC 49: Unfinished Business is one of the greatest UFC shows of all time, main card and prelims. The show had Couture/Belfort III, Liddell/White, Terrell/Lindland, Parisyan/Diaz (Nick) and Edwards/Johnson has one of the best ever KO's (amazing to think it was the last UFC Lightweight fight for years).
