  1. Watching it back, with that in mind, is quite interesting. Something you wouldn't notice otherwise.

His attitude and demeanour is very, very different.

The way he says 'you need to remember what i told you when you were seven' is interesting, I inadvertently saw the spoiler pictures of this weeks episode when he meets young Amy again, I'd bet my life that it has something to do with that meeting, rather than something we've already seen.

Oh wow, yeah. Really different in fact. Having high hopes of how it all comes together at the end now.

  2. People still defending him? LMAO. Is it because it cool to be anti media?

What does he have to do to make it his fault? You people need to wake up and smell the coffee. If we made him what he is which is ,lower than an animal then tough shit, im feed up of paying for his life if we cant kill him then lock him up and throw away the key.

Here's something for you mate :

The only reason you are here posting on the internet and Venables and Thompson are 2 convicted child murderers is circumstance. Pure and simple.

It could of been you. You could of grown up to become a hated murderer. Same as everyone could if the circumstances of their upbringing were different.

What do you think of that?

Ok can you leave the posting to people with a slight clue? I dont care what upbringing you have at 8 years old i knew murdering a baby was wrong. Are you defending every one on the planet that does wrong due to upbringing? Im sure there are some here that had a shit upbringing and didnt turn out like them.

I dont buy the only evil because there mum was a cow shit.

So you're one of those retards that seems to believe that people are born evil then?

Humans are like any other animal in as much as they can be born with certain instincts already present - calling him a retard because you disagree, that was retarded in itself.

No, to make that comparison is also retarded. To make that comparison would be to say that every human is inherently evil until we're taught otherwise. I guess then you're suggesting that Venables was born with the genetic instinct to kill another child?

  4. We will find that out this week I assume. I remember Amy mentioning she had an Aunt in the first episode, maybe we'll find something out about that.

I must just say the fact we're all talking about this shows just how great the first episode was.

What if her Aunt turned out to be River? That would be pretty cool if done well enough.

  5. There really are some bizarre people in the world aren't there. I'd like to think that if I had kids and god forbid something as horrific as the Jamie Bulger situation happened to mine, I would have the level headedness to grieve like any parent would, but have the stability to be able to understand the true disturbed mind of this kid and that prison would solve nothing but would in fact make things worse.

I'm not a psychopath. I don't look at heinous crimes and say "public hanging, that's all they're good for" (although I used to hold this view before I came to the realisation how stupid it was), I look at heinous crimes and wonder what really lead to them. Nobody is born evil, and if you believe that then you can't be right in the head. Some crimes you just cannot explain, but locking people up and throwing away the key, or public execution do nothing to understand the causes of such extreme crimes.

  6. I'm absolutely stunned that you lock a child up and then he grows up to be a weirdo. I personally would have thought that taking away the rest of his childhood, taking away the period of his life when he learns how to socialise and interact with the opposite sex and other adults and then releasing him into a world that must absolutely terrify him would be the way to create a well balanced human being. Who would have thunked it?

The fact that he clearly was unblanced to start with won't help either.

Maybe we should allow the psycho's to have this one and give him a public burning.

  7. I was sat on the edge of the sofa by the end, wide mouthed in awe. I just hope the next week flies by!.

    Moffat is a genius.

The series really has stood alone and you can almost forget the RTD series' ever existed. Smith has proven his critics wrong in that he has not only shown himself a worthy match for Tennant, but I think I can safely say that given time, he may overtake Tennant as the greatest Doctor. I loved the last two episodes of the Tennant era and he's really had some memorable episodes that will keep him up there as one of the great Doctors, but the series has really moved away from clich

  8. The Van Gogh episode was perfect. And the scene where Vincent was taking in the modern reception to his work, in tears, whilst a perfectly cast Bill Nighy waxed lyrical about his hero had me choked.

I was livid, bloody livid, when the day after I read a review of the show that said it was confusing that Van Gogh died anyway, and that showing him the future mustn't have had any point. But, surely the point of it (and the wider point about mental health), was that just being shown the good doesn't always change things. In fact, the Doctor said as much.

Agreed, I didn't think I'd like the Van Gogh episode when seeing the preview but I thought it was as close to a perfect Dr. Who episode as is possible. I loved how they dealt with his depression and didn't shy away from the subject of suicide despite the fact this is primarily a kids show.

This weeks episode was purely brilliant and epic, but I don't know whether next weeks will be able to match up to the hype given to it by this weeks cliffhanger.

  9. I love the fact that the Lib Dem MP's wont be asking any questions.

Well and truly whipped that lot.

I doubt it'll remain the case of Lib Dem's being totally banned from asking questions. As Tory MPs are still permitted to put questions forward so there's no reason why the Lib Dem MPs wouldn't be permitted to either.

  10. It was the first PMQ's of the new Government today. Did anyone catch it? Any thoughts?

I thought Cameron handled himself fairly well and they managed to keep away from the usual bumbling back and forth bullshit that seemed to become a mainstay during Brown's time as PM.

  11. I caught some of the state opening of parliament earlier. Funny the Queen talking about faster broadband connections lol

All that pomp and regalia is such a contrast to the election campaign with TV aired debates American presidential election style.

I love the whole routine of the Queen's opening of Parliament. So grand and over the top, but I thought it was superb. Some good plans ahead imo, still don't get this fascination with everyone having super fast broadband however.

  12. Watched OldBoy and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland yesterday.

OldBoy was truly amazing on a scale I can't really comprehend. Those who haven't seen it simply must.

Alice in Wonderland was an okay film and put a decent Burton-esque spin on the original story. Only watch it if there's nothing better to do.

  13. By the way, is it just me or does anyone else feel that the show's taken on a more subtle adult tone? In terms of the humour, the whole Amy Pond after a quickie with the Doctor in last weeks episode and the general darkness of some of the episodes?

By the way, loved the line "parents do anything to get their children into a good school, they move house, they change... religion"

  14. And on the subject of superhero movie news I've also found this:

Vulture is reporting that Columbia Pictures is finding themselves in a little bit of a bind when it comes to filming the sequel to their Ghost Rider movie. You see in order for Columbia to prevent the rights for doing another Ghost Rider movie from revering back to Marvel Entertainment, they have start production on a new movie no later than November 14, 2010, and even though Nicholas Cage has defiantly said he wants to be on board, there are questions as to whether or not the actor's schedule will permit him from doing so. According to Vulture, Columbia is trying to get an extension from Marvel on the production date, but if they fail to do so then they may need to look elsewhere for and new lead actor to play the part of the Spirit of Vengeance.

Vulture also is reporting that they hear that FlashForward writers Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman, overseen by their show's creator (and Batman Begins scribe), David S. Goyer, have just turned in a draft of a GR2 script, which Columbia will bring to a still-evolving list of potential directors.

I guess it just means they'll probably base the next movie on Danny Ketch rather than Johnny Blaze, and anything that takes screentime away from Nicholas Cage is alright by me.

    And there's also this:

Chud.com is reporting that Marvel Entertainment is looking to do a number of smaller-budget movies with lesser-known characters after it gets through with it's current string of big-budget Avengers related movies.

According to the report, the folks at Marvel are wanting to take characters only known to hardcore comic book readers like Dr. Strange, Ka-Zar, Luke Cage, Dazzler and Power Pack, and make good movies only spending something like $25 million as opposed to the big $100 million like budgets we see used with movies like Iron Man.

This is a method we have seen used more and more, most recently with such movies like Kick-Ass which opened last weekend and The Losers which hits theaters this weekend. Kick-Ass only made a little over $19 million for its opening weekend, though many speculated that the low turn out was due to the extreme violence depicted throughout it. It will be interesting to see how The Losers does this weekend. Iron Man 2 which is Marvel's next movie to hit theaters early next month will quit possibly will be the highest grossing movie for 2010, but by no means was it made with a small budget, so I am not sure how realistic it will be to do low-budget movies with characters most people have never heard of, but I guess time will tell.

I've got mixed feelings about this one. On one hand it could be a great way to bring certain stories to the big screen that wouldn't normally get a look in, but on the other a string of low-budget, dodgy superhero movies could be enough to kill off the genre again. On another note is really disappointing to see that Kick-Ass did so poorly when the reviews were so great.

TBH I'm looking forward to this possibility as it's more a way of Marvel establishing its movie bases Marvel universe to bring in new audiences and introduce them to the wider scope of the Marvel universe. I would love the see a Marvel civil war movie come about somewhere down the line, but Marvel would need to try and take back the rights to some of the bigger names like Spider-Man and X-Men and keep everything in house so they can continue with the cross-overs of the entire universe.

  15. This is the plot for the episode following Vampires of Venice apparently named "Amy's Choice" this is taken from Wikipedia, so it may not be very reliable. However, it goes something like this "Amy travelled in the TARDIS with the Doctor five years ago. As she is just about to give birth, the Doctor returns and Amy has to make a life changing decision." Sounds like a very intriguing plot, any thoughts?

    I found this on it

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

Its five years since Amy and Rory travelled with the Doctor. They're back living in Leadworth, and Amy is pregnant. Rory has grown a ponytail. Life is good, if a little humdrum. Until the Doctor drops by for a visit.

And then they wake up. In the TARDIS, the Doctor, Amy and Rory have had exactly the same dream. But the TARDIS has died, and it's drifting towards a cold star- just 14 minutes till impact! If they don't freeze to death.

And then they wake up. Two worlds: one in the time machine, one in the village that time forgot. One real, the other fake. You're home. You're also dreaming. Trouble is, Rory, Amy, which is which? Their lives depend on making the right choice. But time is running out.

    Sounds freaky as hell.

  17. Not being a fan of the Tennant stuff I haven't commented on Dr Who on here BUT I have to say, after years of "will they, wont they" with various assistants, having one turn around quite early on in the relationship and just proposition him was brilliant. And the line about sorting her out was ace.

I can see the Daily Mail article now.

Good episode though. And she's not the typical whimpering love struck assistant we've seen in the past so it is quite an original way to go with it.

  18. The Dalek's have been overdone so much that they've lost their spark. I like the idea that the Dalek's have returned to their original old school look of sorts with the different colours and I personally didn't mind the story.

  19. Forgot to say the shot of the crack at the end was awesome too. Moffat is already doing a great job of the ongoing story. Was quite a sting in the tail ending

Was the crack meant to symbolise something?
