  1. The Expendables. - Fairly good film that brings some of the biggest action film legends all into the one major action experience. Loved the chaotic action sequences and there was a lot of blood and guts to please anyone, but the scene I was disappointed with was the scene featuring Arnie, Bruce Willis and Sly. 3 of the biggest movie stars all on the one screen for the first time in history and it just didn't feel as big or important as I think it should have done. Although I enjoyed the line "What's his problem?" "He wants to be President".

Maybe a second will deliver more, though I'll also say Mickey Rourke gave a truly splendid performance as always.

  2. Watched two films this weekend.

The Karate Kid (2010): I've not seen the original in years so can't really make the type of comparison between the two that others have. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Chan was very good in the role as Mr. Han portraying a rather more serious character than most of us will be used to seeing him portray. He performed with great ease and delivered a very powerful performance in one extremely emotional scene in particular when the character is reminiscing about his past. Jaden Smith, 12 year old son of Will, was superb in the title role of Dre Parker and is clearly a very capable young actor at ease in front of a camera. Beautifully shot, with some genuinely heart wrenching moments and a film I'd strongly recommend.

Four Lions: The idea of a film focusing around four extremists plotting a terrorist attack is something that was bound to draw some intense controversy even before its release, but in the hands of Chris Morris you knew it would work perfectly. The film is packed with some excellent one-liners and the cast all-round, were just superb. It won't be to everyone's liking as it is very dark humour, but this is where Chris Morris shines. People are going to try and look into it as trying to make out that suicide bombing is funny or can be made to be as such, but I think it should be considered more of a coping mechanism at a time when there is a lot of genuine fear of terrorism and suicide bombers. The best way to deal with that fear is to somehow make fun of it and then it won't seem as scary.

Two very good films in their own right though.

  3. Because they're mental.

It's not mental to assume there's more to a story than meets the eye, especially when you consider the timing of the warrant being issued and its subsequent withdrawal with the statement that they had decided he wasn't being accused of rape. Seems a bit odd don't you think?

  4. I must admit I never have seen what the big deal is with this or sex in general it's something I've never done or wanted to do I've never felt the need or desire.

However I have to admit the reason is likely because I'm an Asexual

Have you ever tried it? (masturbation that is) It's good, you should give it a go.

  5. Anyone else partake in wank therapy, usually following a night out on the town. Whenever I'm hungover I seem to get incredibly horny and can be turned on by the most simple of things. Many a time I've had to pause a film I was watching because I caught a slight glimpse of flesh that set me off. I've probably wanked five or six times today all thanks to being completely pissed the night before. It's the same for when I'm ill too.

Can't say it's happened when I've been ill, but definitely when pissed.

  6. So anyway, we're about fifteen or so minutes into the smut and one of the lads suggests a group wank. Everyone else agrees. I don't know what the hell a wank is, but I agree to it too. Hell, it sounded fun. So all the fellas take out their pieces but on the ball as always, Steven suggests we all shift positions so that we all can see the TV, but we don't get a glimpse of each others cocks. As we all know, a eyeful of another mans cock and turn you fruity. My position is up against the wall and conveniently enough, this doubles as someone keeping sketch. I could see out of the corner of the window from where I was standing. So they're all fapping away and I'm staring into the wall with the corner of my eye on the TV. I have a massive boner, but not a clue what to do with it. So for the next while, I just thrust it into the wall. That's right, I thrust into the wall. One hand on the base of my cock, the other hand leaning against the wall and man, for what seemed like forever, I'm thrusting like nobody's business. Once all the lads came, I told them I did too, then we went outside and played football.

 One of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

  7. His acting in The Wicker Man is pathetically funny. "HOW'D IT GET BURNED?"

    Not the bees!!!

I do love him sometimes though, for everything good Bad Lieutenant, Lord Of War, Raising Arizona, Adaptation, Kick Ass, there is always something god awful Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous, Ghost Rider etc.

I liked Lord of War, but I think he dragged down Kick-Ass.

Gamer was on Sky Premier the other day and I thought that was quite enjoyable. Michael C. Hall was excellent in it.

  8. Yeah, particularly given the Yogi/BooBoo relative positioning.

It's more about the glassy eyes for me though. Dead and lifeless, yet still filled with psychotic murderous intent. I don't know how that's possible but it's there.

The trailer makes it look even worse

Edit: Just found this as I was just browsing to see what other cherished childhood programmes the movie makers were planning to mutilate and yep, turns out they're planning to give the Alvin & The Chipmunks treatment to Tom & Jerry: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111799889...=1&nid=2562

P.S. Sorry if it's been mentioned previously.

  9. I'm reading My shit life so far by Frankie Boyle. its hit and miss at best, some bits are amusing, others not so much.

    it was cheap though.

think I'll pick up more Danny Wallace stuff when I get paid - I've only read Yes Man. I want more by Tony Hawks too.

I found Join Me to be really good.

  10. Currently reading.

The only thing I really knew about the country before reading this was that it was ruled under a sort of fascist regime. Really good read so far that focuses on the events following the disaster of Cyclone Nargis and how the military regime dealt with the disaster in an extremely peculiar way.

  11. EastEnders looks like it'll be pissing all over Corrie for the forseable future. Phil's about to smoke a crack, whilst up North, John Stape shits his panties for the 59th time this week and Audrey gets diddled by Nigel Havers.

Come on, Street, step up a gear.

It won't be long before Peter Barlow goes back on the drink, and Simon's Nan and Grandad take him away again. Enders and Corrie always seem to copy eachother somehow. Notice both shows currently have a person in a wheelchair, one has a storyline about gay people, the other has one about lesbians (Emmerdale joined in with this trend last time I watched properly in late May).

You mean Jack or that other annoying twat who's now left?

I loved how they brought Phill and that crack whore together.

  12. Steven Hawkins - A brief history of time, holy crap its a migrane in a book. Makes me seem really smart to be able to quote Hawkins tho.

Im told there are sequels but I may go through the Shakespear books next, ive been inspired to expand my understanding and better my mind, by watching Big bang theory.

 I had a go at reading it a while back and my head began hurting so I gave up.

  13. I don't like the bloke, he gets the sack then gets another job. He was running the show towards the end and kept reappearing like a turd that wouldn't flush. Clearly a Bilderberger in with the Rothschilds.

I agree. One of the things that annoyed me is the blatant way in which the press and the public were manipulated. Both times he was sacked was simply for show as a way of getting the press off their back and as soon as the furore over whatever trouble he's got himself in has ended, then he's back.

  14. Have to say that I really found Mandelson's book surprisingly great. Well written and a good background on the history of New Labour. I'd have liked a more personal approach with more of a look into his childhood and personal life, as he seemed to just glaze over this, but overall it was excellent.

Keeping with the political theme I'm now reading,

From New Jerusalem to New Labou: British Prime Ministers from Attlee to Blair.

Basically, it's a set of short essays on the 11 post-war Prime Ministers.

Does Mandy's book mention anything about his Bilderberg group membership?

Nope. Not that I can remember anyway. There's obviously a lot of bias and I had to say that from time to time I got the impression he was consistently making excuses for himself to justify the times he "resigned" but there are a lot of really good political stories in it especially when touching on the Brown/Blair relationship. You have to think that if they could both have gotten along better then New Labour really would have achieved something amazing.

  16. Generation Kill is being shown again on FX, Wednesdays at 11pm. Only two episodes in for anyone who wants to watch it and i highly recommend it.

Has anyone seen new More 4 show Southland?

Little cool fact about the Generation Kill TV show.

Rudy Reyes, spoken about in the book, plays himself in the TV show. I didn't realise it initially until I read the book as I'd seen the TV show about a year ago and never really considered he might be playing himself.

  17. Today watched Toy Story 3 and Kick-Ass.

Found Toy Story to be quite an emotional film. Still had some belly laughs, but seemed a bit more serious than the previous two instalments. As serious as you can be with a story about Toys.

Kick-Ass I found to be just cool from start to finish, but surprisingly brutal in places. Chloe Moretz was immense as Hit-Girl, but felt a bit uncomfortable with the fact that an 11 year old was playing a role that brutally killed a lot of people. Still excellent though.

God I loved Neighbours a few years back, one of the few shows I'm truly nostalgic for. Pepper leaving as well as the move to Five was the end for me, maybe it'll return to the glory days at some point. :(

The death of Madge was around the time I stopped watching. I remember being in tears at that as I thought it was superbly done, but just haven't watched it since.
