  1. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions guys. I've been wondering about some of those things for years!

It's amazing hearing about all the effort that was put in behind-the-scenes to give fans the best product possible.

  2. Great thread! Silver Vision is sorely missed.

Sorry for the load of questions that follows…

There were a couple of shows that got released “Exempt from classification”. How or why did they come about? I’m specifically thinking the Rock Bottom: IYH, which had violence, swearing and a striptease. How did that get away without at least a 15 rating?

The Elimination Chamber collection was renamed to Iron Will over here, was this due to distribution in Germany? How did you get around the title of the PPVs?

Why was the US named ‘Bloodbath’ cage matches DVD renamed and repackaged over here?

The extras on PPVs seemed to steadily decline, was there any reason behind this? Similarly with the inserts that were a nice addition to the packaging becoming rarer and rarer?

  3. I want to say he hit Spike Dudley with one the night he debuted

Brilliant stuff! WWE has the clip on YouTube and he does indeed do a triple powerbomb (had a strange urge to watch something with one in). What an absolutely incredible debut all round that was!

Thanks for the other suggestions guys. Will track down the Backlash match as well. I had an inkling Jericho used to do it, but he must have been limited on who he could do it to.

  4. Viewing The Network on Torch browser, all the controls have disappeared that usually show up when I hover over a video (play/pause, fullscreen, volume). I'm completely stumped, has any got any ideas or had the same problem?

  5. I got a $9.99 PayPal refund at exactly midday and the WWE Network (using Hola unblocker via Torch browser) is now saying "WWE Network video content is currently only available for viewing within the United States." and then redirects me to WWE.com. Fuck!

EDIT: And now it's streaming fine again, so who knows?

  6. This gives you a prety good look at what they are (plus a disgusting arm shot taken by Masada)

 Legit HO.LY SHIT! from me there! I think that pretty much makes up for Masada's years of being a bump-shy shitarse for me! And I thought Kenzans were a sick weapon!

I loved the original Deathmatch thread, although I think this might be my first post on the topic. I haven't seen this year's TOD yet as I'm waiting to get it on DVD from SmartMark. But I know I won't be able to keep out of this thread and I'll end up spoiling the show for myself! :p

  7. Sadly, I could see myself falling for something like that. Just because it's not obvious what the scammers would get out of it. However, a quick Google search reveals plenty of pages offering exactly the same thing, and also this possible explanation (similar to the "name a drink that doesn't have an 'e' in it", posted earlier)

"From our research, we have found that the most likely reason such fake promotions are created is to simply build up a Facebook page with massive amounts of likes. These pages are then sold, renamed, and all traces of their fake promotions are deleted." http://wafflesatnoon.com/2013/03/08/alert-...comment-page-1/

  8. What is Terry Funk's book like? I didn't realise he had one until I saw it on Amazon. It's called Terry Funk: The Hardcore Legend. Seeing as I hadn't heard anything about it I thought i'd ask on here before buying.

    Cheers

It's not terribly well written, but I enjoyed it. It's slow going at first, but there's a lot of good annecdotes. I wouldn't pay the prices Amazon seems to be asking but it's worth picking up if you can find it for a fiver or so. Hope that helps!

  9. Who is the bloke in red trunks on the back of the World X Cup 2008 DVD? The kids got a good look.

I'm totally guessing as I haven't seen the DVD, but could it be the Russian guy, Alex Koslov? He was ace too.

That would've been my guess too. RACIAL STEREOTYPES~!

  10. It's a pre-watershed recap of WWE telly, my expectations are pretty low! Would be nice if they did a post watershed version though.

And I dunno, I kinda like Jack Korpella. Although you get the feeling he knows nothing about wrerstling whatsoever.

  11. Can anyone please help me find a singles match that took place in the original ECW?

It was from a show released on video, probably a PPV, and I think it's from 1999/2000 time. There was a raised entrance ramp that lead right to the ring, WCW style. There was at least one metal rubish bin filled with weapons already set up for the match and prbably some other weapons like a ladder as well. During the match (I think I've only watched the one math from the show) the commentators (I'm thinking/guessing Joey and Cyrus) argued and one walked out (I'm guessing Joey). I *think* RVD was one half of ther match, but I'm not 100%.

Any help/suggestion is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  12. Did TNA Epics air last Friday? I can't find it on the Virgin Media OnDemand service at all.

If I'm not getting my weekends mixed up, I couldn't see it on the EPG on Sky last Fri. It aired straight after iMPACT! on Saturday. I think it was a Knockouts themed episode, so I didn't bother to record it.

  13. At the end of Cypress Hill's 'Just Another Victim' on the WWF Forcible Entry CD, who are the soundbites at the end from (I'm guessing Michael Cole and Joey Styles)?

Also, what show is Taz(z)'s thing from ("Hey, I'ma lay a little wrinkle in this son-of-a-b*tch! Tonight, right now, falls count, anywhere in the building!!", again thinking ECW sometime)?

Because I was under the impression the WWF didn't acquire the rights to the ECW library until a few years later (the CD was released in 2001 I think). So any idea how they could use the sound clips?

  14. God, reading the TNA/BRAVO question made me remember that I dreamt about Don West last night! He kept calling everyone pricks!

Which leads to this question (which was asked by someone else on the DVDVR boards, but never answered):

Why is the Spike/TNA censorship so random? Like when DW can get away with saying prick and ass, but in the next segment they bleep out ass?

If I were BRAVO, I'd insist on having 'uncut' epsiodes. The bleeping is so stupid after the watershed here in the UK!

  15. I'm currently re-reading A Clockwork Orange. I love that book, it really made me question if I know anything about human rights (and wrongs!). Anyone else read it?

Read the book, got the t-shirt, watched the (sucky) film. I only read the book once, but it's one I mean to get round to reading again. It's a must-read for everyone.

The 'made-up' language is what makes the book for me. "The red, red krovvy" etcetera. It really helps paint the image of a distopian future, controlled by the youth.

Just today I described Road Rash for the SNES as "...riding around, tolchocking random people..."

I'm currently close to finishing Chris Jericho biog. Good, interesting read, but the man has an absolutley shocking mouth on him! Also, just started a light-reading book I got for my birthday called "Stuff White Poeple Love", which is high-larious.
