Women's Rumble was fine - at least you had Charlotte, Rhea, Sasha, Bianca, Shayna or Rousey as the possibilities of winning, whereas the men's rumble it was very much AJ...maybe Big E...maybe Drew....oh Lesnar's here.Â
Camera cuts were ridiculous - like you had Boogz gorilla pressing Gable, about to throw him out, and they cut to Sheamus and Ziggler fondling each other instead? Makes no sense.Â

Yellowjackets. Messed up, Lord of the Flies-esque with lots of flashbacks/flashforwards. Christina Ricci plays creepy well.
Â
Caught up with all of Euphoria. Sexy twenty-somethings playing teens having sex and doing drugs. Zendaya's clearly got an iron clad "no tits" contract, because she's probably the only member of the cast to remain mostly fully clothed. Really good, though.Â
Â
We Are Ladyparts - sitcom about a Muslim woman who joins a rock band. Pretty enjoyable.Â
Â
The Expanse S6 - decent finale to a great space opera. Even managed a swerve near the end.Â

I started Yellowjackets but ever since Piggy in Lord of the Flies I’ve felt too much dread watching these kinds of shows. I started Euphoria instead and it’s a whole new level of dread. I had it described as Skins but a lot darker and that’s pretty spot on. Definitely a level of discomfort watching a bunch of 20 year olds pretending to be 17 year olds getting bummed my old men, wiping the jizz of emasculated jocks off their backs and various other grim deeds. Some really good young actors in it too. A shit ton of widgies of varying sizes and states of erectness on show too.
Just watched the first eight episodes (which is S1) and it's a really good show. I think it's beautifully shot as well, and has a great soundtrack.Â

Persona 5 Strikers, probably the most dogshit pacing I've found at the start of a game. Two hours of story then suddenly you've got an entire games worth of mechanics thrust upon you with no time to get used to them.
Just turn the difficulty down, that's what I did. It's stupidly hard for how early game it is.Â

My thought would be if you're essentially doing supply at the school that's making you so sad, maybe think about just doing generic supply? You can then experience different school cultures without the pressure. Obviously it's very much more hit and miss from a stability perspective, but it might let you keep doing the job, but outside of the toxic workplace.Â

Just finished Miles Morales on the PS5. A lot of fun, and the sound recording side collectibles were a lot of fun.Â

Aside from putting in far too many hours into Slay the Spire, FM21 and FM22, I've played a fair few great games this year.Â
Â
Started off the year playing Paradise Killer on the Switch. It is a murder mystery game set in a futuristic world, with bits of platforming. It was a lot of fun trying to unravel the mystery and generally find out what all the different bits meant, and I didn't even need a guide!
Â
I then treated myself to Persona 5 Royal - I finished the original Persona 5 when it came out 2016, but was interested to see what the expansion added - I enjoyed the new characters and additional story - was a massive timesink but I really enjoyed it. It's also incredible graphically and the soundtrack is excellent.Â
Â
I then downloaded the demo of Inscryption after the Besties podcast recommended it, and was hooked. I then bought the full version and it was so much fun. A good card builder with an interesting thing after the first act - I highly recommend it.
Â
I then played Unpacking, which was a chill placement game where you go through someone's life unpacking their houses - it tells a narrative just via the gameplay - you unpack certain things and realise how shitty a relationship they are.Â
Â
Finally, Wildermyth is like D&D but done well on the computer. Really good mix of the gameplay and storytelling.Â

Is the reason we're so shit because we've spent so much time focusing on the one day side of the game, or are we just shit?Â

I'd also like to join the discord if one's been set up, and if it hasn't, I'm happy to set one up.Â
-
Discord has two advantages - it doesn't have to be your real name, and you can have channels which allow you to mute stuff you're not interested in. It also allows us to have an opt in channel for mental health stuff.Â

I got Splendor. It’s like a slightly more in depth Jaipur.Â

Another ear here if you need it.Â

This is one of the best places on the internet full of excellent people.

Happy birthday bud!

The picture was taken the same week as my wedding was originally planned. We postponed it until the following May, and then still were only allowed 4 people in the registry office anyway - my mum and brother (who were both masked) and the photographer. My wife's mum was not able to come at all because she has/had long covid.Â
Â
I'm just tired and angry. I'm also very upset that I know nothing will change come next election. Johnson will ride off into the sunset, and some other Tory cunt will be elected as Prime Minister.Â
Â
I'm also fed up of not knowing what to do this week.Â

Had my third Pfizer jab today. No time to get any junk food; had to make do with stopping off and getting some Percy Pigs from M&S because I am bougie af.Â

Shocked they haven't shoehorned Diana into it somewhere.Â

Completely forgot about Mistborn. Excellent series

The Farseer trilogy (and the sequel Fool trilogy) by Robin Hobb are also well worth a look - a bastard son to a king, trained up as an assassin, falls victim to dynasty politics. Dragons and telepath are involved.
Â
Definitely recommend these. They're both incredible books.Â

Booked mine for Saturday. Going to Chipping Norton, meaning I've now gone to Warwick, Oxford and Chippy to get it done.Â

And they don't stop coming...

Graham Linehan has to be on there for throwing away his career, and his marriage, just because someone criticised an episode of one of his shows.Â
