My Slay the Spire Board Game Kickstarter arrived today.
Â
It's gorgeous and I can't wait to play it.Â

Oh I have something to contribute to this thread now!Â
Â
Â
Our new neighbours moved in about two months ago, and within three days had knocked up a temporary/flat pack studio out the back, a bit like an old portacabin classroom. Turns out it's a nail studio, and so the woman has been advertising on Facebook that her new studio is ** ***** *** (our road). This is very annoying for two main reasons:
a) There's two lights, one on the outside (like a PIR but always on) which shines ridiculously brightly late at night, if they forget to turn it off, and a second an LED light inside the studio which is just annoying to look at.Â
b) There are people coming and going all day, pinging off the ring doorbell, and more irritatingly parking in my!!! (non-assigned) space. Parking's pretty bad at the best of times, but it's rather annoying when on-road parking in front of my house is taken up by random cars.Â
Â
I don't want to go full "erm actually do you have permission to be running a nail studio out of your back yard", but it's just annoying that there was no real heads up about "btw we're going to be building this and so this is going to cause x y and z to happen" - just out of politeness if nothing else. What's funny is that one night one of their mates who was helping them inside the house did come round to tell us at 8pm he was drilling to fit a TV, which was a 30 second job, whereas the other, heavier work has had no warning.Â
Â
Still, it could be worse. They could have a flag outside.

Forest's management/whoever runs the twitter page are an embarrassment.Â
Â
The refereeing was shite but what is that statement going to achieve other than make them a further laughing stock.Â

Apparently based on the male lead - Richard Gadd's experience of being stalked in real life.
Yeah, and I think that made it even more harrowing, knowing that the guy had gone through everything (or at least most) of what was happening.Â

Baby Reindeer is really tough to watch but it's incredibly well written and harrowing.Â

I found the key to Bloodborne is getting a good rhythm with the parrying, the blunderbuss worked really well for me to the point I'd shoot it on pure instinct and most often get a party.
Yeah I finally learnt how to parry and it made life so much easier.Â
-
I've been playing it recently because I'd finished Spider-Man 2 and Elden Ring and couldn't settle on something else to play - I've taken to sticking a podcast on and doing side missions - not really paying much attention to what's going on, just enjoying bright colours and shooting people. I'll probably finish it but won't bother with the expansion, unless the Elden Ring DLC comes out before I finish it to distract me.
Â
I also finally beat two bosses on Bloodborne so that's motivating me a little bit more. It's much more indecipherable than Elden Ring was, but I like the aesthetic.Â

Fantastic fun, and it goes for quite a long time. However, I did then drop it when I finished the questline.Â

I'm also not being funny but when trans people have said "I would prefer it if you don't play this game," and the people saying "ah but she's not that involved" probably aren't trans people, I know which side I'm going to listen to.Â
Â
Doing the bare minimum isn't enough, but it is at least something. Staying in the centre and saying "ah well it'll be fine" is absolute bullshit, and I think you know it in your heart as well. Actively supporting JKR by buying a Harry Potter branded product is not staying in the centre - it's saying to trans people "yeah your lives matter to me but also wizard game goes pew pew and that's more fun"Â

My wife has got us tickets to see that; looking forward to it.Â

Helldivers 2. An amazing shooter which requires teamwork. If I could have made a video game, this is it. Guns, aliens, robots, upgrades, dropping shit from the sky....
Glorious.Â
Ridiculous fun. Just the idea of being to drop in more or less seamlessly with random people, it's just brilliant fun.Â

It's this.Â

For whatever reason I’d never actually thought to mod the game, any recommendations?
Stardew Valley Expanded is the big one -Â https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3753
Â
Has a comprehensive guide to setting it up etc. It's very good.Â

10 points - Final Fantasy IX – the first RPG I ever played, I fell in love with it and it’s just so fun, heartfelt and the characters all (mostly) all brilliant. Quina + Eiko > Cait Sith if we’re talking about bad characters, but Dagger, Zidane, Vivi, Steiner and Freya shit on all other characters.
Â
9 points - Persona 5 Royal – took all of the good bits from the previous Personas (3+4), and makes it so much more stylish, enjoyable and fun. The plot is a fun caper with the end of the world bits at the end, and I think it does everything perfectly. Â
Â
8 points - Elden Ring – I had never gelled with FromSoft games before – always enjoyed watching others play them but would get my arse handed to me whenever I played them, but the ease of using summons in Elden Ring made this a lot more fun. I finished it once with a magic build, then decided to “git gud” and use more of a melee build to replay it. It’s the first game I’ve ever platinumed, and I can’t wait for the DLC.
Â
7 points - Slay the Spire – 849 hours on this bad boy, and I still go back for more. The best roguelike deck building game – none come close (although Balatro is sneaking into second). It’s endlessly fun, doesn’t feel unfair, and is just great.
Â
6 points - Spider-Man 2 (PS5) – the first Spider-Man on the PS4 was excellent, as was Miles Morales, but I felt that the sequel took all of the best elements of the predecessors, and then added Web Wings. The plot was fun, and it was a joy to fly/swing through the city. Playing as the big bad for a bit was also very, very fun.
Â
5 points - Baldur's Gate 3 – I love D&D, and this game does D&D the best any game has ever done it. The set pieces are incredible, the plot is pretty decent and the companions are a lot of fun. I keep wanting to go back to play it to see stuff I’ve missed, and then I get distracted again.
Â
4 points – Red Dead Redemption 2 – the best open world game until Elden Ring. Not sure I’ve ever hated a character as much as I hate Micah, either.
Â
3 points - Stardew Valley – just a fun, cosy time sink game. Mods add up a whole new world of game as well!
Â
2 points - Pokemon Blue – the start of something very special. Missingno. made everything better.
Â
1 point – The Last of Us 2 – beautiful game. I loved both sides of the game, and it took everything good about the first, and added it to the second. Increbidle.

The greatest discovery of my last few years was finding the grater attachment for the blender does a great job with cheese. Spent so many years using a manual grater like a scrub
