  1. I forgot, I also boycotted the Qatar world cup because I was so angry about the lack of backbone shown regarding the rainbow armbands - the bare minimum and they couldn't even manage it.

  2. I'm basic a f and love Cholula, the original, the chipotle and my favourite, chili garlic.

I also like the Encona West Indian one, but I only use it specifically when eating a spicy chicken burger, with a slice of lettuce, tomato ketchup and a generous helping of the Encona sauce. It's a very specific taste combination.

Apologies if it's a reference I don't get, but my old man was called Andy for what it's worth.

    It's a Bottom quote, not important! :)

These are all far too ethical and not petty enough. My Dad was an unsuccessful ironmongery salesman and lost real life money by refusing to work sith Selco because he hated their TalkSport adverts.

    Harold?

  5. Spin off from the strike thread, but do you have companies you boycott? Why? Any you've forgiven?

    I boycott three main things:

Wetherspoons - don't care how cheap it is, don't care how filling it is, Tim Martin is a Brexit supporting cunt and from the day the vote came in, I vowed to never step foot in again.

Brewdog - the sexual inappropriateness, toxic culture and now living wage nonsense is enough for me. Plenty of other decent IPA manufacturers who are yet to be cunts.

Byron Burger - The immigration raid fake meeting - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/jul/28/it-was-a-fake-meeting-byron-hamburgers-staff-on-immigration-raid. Go fuck yourselves, shitheads.

I also tried (and failed) to boycott Blizzard due to Bobby Kotick and the general poor behaviour towards women, but I always get pulled back into the addiction of their video games - Diablo IV being the latest one.

I finished the main story last night. My god the last “boss battle” is tough, and I thought Scream was tough!

Going to go back and do all the side quests now which should keep me busy for a while.

I think I had more issue with Scream than I did the final boss battle.

    I should say, (plot spoilers)

    Spoiler

    fucking up shit with Venom

    was incredibly fun.

Thirding The Forgotten City, I absolutely loved it, but it wasn't too complicated that meant I got grumpy with it.

I've absolutely flown through Spider-Man 2, it's brilliant. I'm 3-4 missions from the end, and I'm doing my best to try and 100% it, although if I have to get gold medals in the time trials, then it can fuck off.

What a game. I loved every minute of it, except for the missions which needed the adaptive triggers. Even then, I tolerated it to get the 100%. I also went back and destroyed all the time trials, so I have ultimate smug satisfaction.

  9. 2023 was pretty fucking wank. We discovered my wife was pregnant (despite being told it was unlikely) in June, told it would be difficult, prepared ourselves for everything, then at our first scan no heartbeat was found. Absolutely heartbreaking, and genuinely the worst thing that I have ever experienced. My wife's health then took a further battering because during the pregnancy she got a clot in her leg, and they refused to operate because of the baby, then when they got around to being able to fix it, it's completely fucked, scarred and unfixable. This means her long term health is impacted, and probably means little to no flights for us for the forseeable. It's also confirmed the fact we won't be trying to have a child again, but it was a horrible last four months of the year. It also meant I missed a close friend's wedding because grieving. Also my Mother-In-Law was fucking awful throughout, and that made things 100 times more difficult.

Work's been really hard. We had OFSTED in the second week of term, our headteacher who I was really close with got shoved out the back door and went on gardening leave, and the new heads are not my cup of tea. There's been a bit of turmoil in my department, they decided to promote someone against my judgement to work directly below me, and he's not great. Alongside this, we gained a new member of staff who was also 3 months pregnant when she started (which I'm finding v difficult to be around), and has been off a lot, which puts extra pressure on the department.

Re-mortgage means that we're probably paying 50% extra per month, on top of other bills going up, which is difficult.

Positives - went back to gigs this year - Carly Rae Jepsen, Scene Queen, Paramore and Fallout Boy - all of which filled me with joy. I think my wife and I's relationship is much stronger, despite the horrific nature of the year, and I have my lovely cats.

Looking forward to 2024 being slightly less shit.

  10. Dave the Diver - bought it before Xmas, played it a ridiculous amount. I just love that every so often it completely changes into a different thing to do.

Spider-Man 2 - Xmas present off my wife. Only played the first two hours. It's Spider-Man. Web swinging and the new traversal technique is a lot of fun, as expected.

Interested to see where the story goes.

    Slow Horses

Was just coming to post about this. Jackson Lamb is one of my favourite characters ever, and I adore the show. I read the first book last week, and S1 is a proper faithful adaptation, so I'm gonna hold off on the others until after the TV show stops.

I am happy to report that my family forgot to put on the Call the Midwife special, thus making it the greatest Christmas ever.

I played Monopoly with my mother so as we did not have to put it on.

Far Cry 6 on Game Pass. Lads, it’s Far Cry. You know what you’re getting, but with added Gus Fring and you have a crocodile mate.

Honestly one of the most fun games I've ever played. Just blowing shit up and driving around. The plot is fine, but I'm just in it for the explosions

Is anyone up for a proper UKFF Game of the Year thread this year? It’s been such a good year for gaming that it feels worthwhile. When I say a ‘proper thread’, I mean nominations and then a poll. I’d be more than happy to volunteer myself to do this, with my intent being to create a top 5/10 along the lines of my video game sales posts. If there’s no interest, or if people haven’t played enough games this year, I obviously won’t bother.

    Yes.
