Apparently another deal has basically been agreed with an American group who want to replicate what FSG have done at Liverpool.

Reports are coming out that Ashley apparently upped his price to the Saudi's when the exclusivity ran out, basically making the initial purchase agreement void.

Apparently, even according to the buying side, Ashley wasn't the problem.

Newcastle fans in making something Mike Ashley’s fault without any evidence shocker, apparently.

Just be thankful your club is owned by a dodgy fat cunt and not a morally repugnant murderous dictator.

  2. I remember meeting Schwarz at a school 5-a-side tournament at the Seaburn Centre when I was about 8. We were told he’d be coming to present the medals.

My team finished runners up. As he placed the cheap plastic medal over my head, I used my brief time in his presence to unknowingly exclaim “you’re not the real Stefan Schwarz!”, as if he was about to become my stepdad.

”Yes, I am.” replied the Swede as he hurriedly moved on to the next member of my team.

Turns out it he was the real Stefan Schwarz. Who knew...

Lump in my throat watching that and the footage of their old man jumping around in the stands. Beautiful moment.

That'd be their dad, David Longstaff, one of the most decorated and highly capped British Ice Hockey players ever. Still playing now for my local team (Whitley Warriors) at the age of 45.

I actually like seeing those two succeed, in spite of them playing for Newcastle. Talented family.

Feel free to tell your friend I hope his sister dies horribly and soon 😇😘🖐

Well, it’d be a real shame if she died before getting to see your inevitable turn of being caught by one of those ‘paedophile hunter’ groups at a train station busy wanking into a Dora the Explorer backpack.

Where's @METAL ON METAL gone? All the Sunderland fans round here seem to have dropped like flies.

Still around and still sadly a Sunderland season ticket holder (though ironically living in Newcastle now).

Just don’t tend to post much these days, still a frequent viewer of the forum though.

Admittedly I had incredibly low expectations going in, but I thought that Instant Family had a lot of heart and actually leaned more towards that in the end.  I did not expect to we'll up at what appeared to be a Marky Mark shitcom on paper.

I felt similarly. Went in with low expectations due to terrible trailers and only really saw it to kill time until my girlfriend finished work, but I found myself pretty invested in it and it’s certainly more than the throwaway generic family movie I was expecting.

Handles a delicate topic with a lot of care and thought.

Had Green Book as a secret screening tonight.  Absolutely enthralling.  Reverse Driving Miss Daisy where a fairly racist wiseguy gets a job driving round a black pianist on a tour of the South.

Agreed, wasn't even aware of it when the title card came up, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great dynamic between the leading two actors (took me a long time to even realise it was Viggo Mortensen) and garnered several genuine laughs for a such a serious topic.

    A Star is Born

Really fucking excellent.  Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are fantastic in it.  The soundtrack was so good that I've ordered it already.  It's a little over two hours, but I really thought I'd been living with them for a long time.  The time absolutely flew by.

    Content warning:

      Reveal hidden contents

    Deals a lot with addiction.

Judging from the reactions in the screening pretty much everyone was in to it.

    Massive spoiler:

Because we were all bawling our eyes out.  Then, just when you think you can't cry any more it notches up a bit more so that I had to compose myself before I could even drive away.

Agreed fully, absolutely brilliant film! One of my favourites of the year.

Great and brutally honest performance by Bradley Cooper (and very well directed). Lady Gaga was sensational though, she deserves all the plaudits she’ll undoubtedly get.

Fantastic memorable soundtrack too, which I’ll be getting on release day. Been humming the songs since I left the cinema.

Nah. He returned from injury in April and played in most of Dortmund's final Bundesliga fixtures. He played in both of Ukraine's international games in May/June and most of West Ham's pre season games as well.

Only played in two of Dortmund’s last twelve games. Didn’t play more than 20 minutes in each game.

You’re right about the latter though.

The Man City documentary looks fascinating, I'd love to see more behinds the scenes kind of stuff like this and the great Graham Taylor doc from the 90s.

Netflix are releasing a similar documentary series on us in October (produced by Fulwell 73), showing behind the scenes of our disastrous season last year. It was meant to have aired by now but they went back and recorded more footage when our takeover happened. They had the cameras at every game last season and even mic’ed up this crazy old bloke a few rows down from me.

It must be good viewing as our owner Stewart Donald said it’s already been commissioned for a second season. It’ll take something to top our Premier Passions series though.

  11. Yeah, I was very impressed by Season 2 of GLOW. I was wary of it possibly declining in quality but it really found its groove quickly and if anything improved upon the first season for me.

As good as Alison Brie (always) is, Betty Gilpin was the MVP - terrific performance...and I am very much in love with her.

Also thought the guy playing Bash really stepped up this season.

  12. Hardwick has issued a statement:

    Quote

Nerdist CEO Chris Hardwick is denying claims from ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra that he sexually assaulted her.

In a statement Friday night, Hardwick said, "These are very serious allegations and not to be taken lightly which is why I’ve taken the day to consider how to respond. I was heartbroken to read Chloe's post. Our three year relationship was not perfect — we were ultimately not a good match and argued — even shouted at each other — but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”

He continued: "When we were living together, I found out that Chloe cheated on me, and I ended the relationship. For several week after we broke up, she asked me to get back together with me and even told me she wanted to have kids with me, 'build a life' with me and told me that I was 'the one,' but I did not want to be with someone who was unfaithful."

"I'm devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur. I was blindsided by her post and always wanted the best for her. As a husband, a son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women," he concluded.

  13. Perfect post there, Wand. It can’t be understated how much of an influence he’s had on UK MMA and tbh MMA as a whole in some respects (certainly trash talking).

Managed to see him fight in person twice, at UFC 105 & 204. My lasting memory of 105 is unintentionally finding the fighter hotel (walking past at the moment GSP was leaving), saw lots of the fighters who were understandably subdued as it was 2 hours before the weigh ins - this was the days of the singular and public weigh in. Anyway, Bisping got out of a car and looked absolutely terrible, incredibly distant, like seriously ill and as gaunt as a perennial smack addict. He went to go head inside of the hotel, tried to push the door open (it was a pull) and when it wouldn’t budge he just proceeded to absolutely lose his rag with this inanimate object - pushing, pulling, slapping and swearing at. This literally went on for about 30 seconds before one of his team (I think it was when he was still with Wolfslair) opened it.

I remember legimately thinking he was going to keel over, it was quite scary tbh. But then like 90 mins later at the weigh in he looked like a totally different person, not anywhere near as gaunt/lifeless and actual colour in his cheeks. That was 9 years ago, fuck knows how he’s managed that weight cut for so long, I’ve seen many fighters during weight cut but never as bad as that.

Bit of a tangent but he’s been a great role model for the sport.

The only posts I make these days are popping in here to tell you I liked some telly, but I have liked some more telly and that is HBO's Barry, which you should watch. It's very good.

Agreed. The whole first season was excellent, obviously HBO agree as they renewed it for season two before it had even premiered.

Bill Hader shows serious acting chops. Henry Winkler is over the top greatness. The character of NoHo Hank had me laughing every time.
