  1. This thread has really brought some childhood memories back.

Remember buying a wrestling figure from Index, which was a catalogue shop like Argos in Barnsley(not sure if they were everywhere). In the Barnsley store, you ordered at till like at Argos, but unlike Argos, for some reason you couldn't ask for the full selection sending down so you could choose which you wanted. They just sent one, and if you didn't want it had to go and order another to be sent until you found one you didn't want.

Well, on this occasion my Nan paid for a figure, and we went to the collection point where as a kid it felt like forever until you know which figure would come down in the lift. I had my back to the counter and my Nan was given a big box. Confused, she opened it up to find a selection of about 8(can't remember the exact number) of figures in and promptly bundled me out of the shop.

Turns out whoever had been picking them must have gone to where they were stored, and come across a box and thought that was the item. I remember there was like(for example)4 of one figure, 3 of another and one of another(that was Bret Hart I think, as I remember he is who I went in for). The extras went on my cousins Christmas prezzies, and I was left with the knowledge my Nan was a dodgy get!

That was the best bit. From what I remember, the lad who came on here was actually sharing pics, info etc was 2nd hand as a lot of the stuff belonged to a well known collector called STOM.

His info was sound in fairness, but it was his weird attitude and the fact he started threatening not to update us about someone else's collection.

Who first mentioned the fork BTW? I can't remember who first suggested it. Fucking genius that was.

Whoever is was wants a custom title or something. It's one of those remarks that went down in UKFF folklore(or Forklore, if you like) and was even referenced on here recently wasn't it?

That is literally one of the plot lines from Pyschoville.

Some of the stuff that came out during the original Roger / fork stuff was fascinating, still my favourite thread that happened on here. Didn't it have quite a lot of the original Hasbro design sketches, which I think may have turned up in other threads since?

I wish "Forkgate" was still around to read... It was informative, surreal and hilarious all in one go!

Those were the days, £3.99 each a figure, and £20 for the ring with sound box.

Here's a pic of it boxed

I can remember opening this on Christmas morning, along with Piper, Bear Hug Hogan, Green Dibease and Jake The Snake figures. I was so, so happy!

To Cod and Nick - No, I did mean Hasbro rings. There were two blue Hasbro ring types, the difference being the post mold and in some cases colour blue/black. The flat top posts that were more common, but there was also a version with a rounded top post. Then there's the yellow KOTR version.

Well Fuck a Duck! Never knew there were different versions of the blue ring. Am I right in thinking that the noise box didn't come with the ring as standard? Only asking as I was the only one amongst my friends who got one...

Are you sure? I know the WCW rings often came with them, but I don't remember any WWF ones, not in the Early Hasbro days at least anyway

Mine came with flat tops on the ring posts, with holes for the USA flag to go in.. I think the other poster meant those rather than actual spring activated pads that(like you mentioned) the WCW ring had...

For clarity, the one I had was the blue ring with the sound box and title belt.

  7. The "misconceptions" thread reminded me of a question that has puzzled me from the start of my wrestling fandom.., Why did Vince call the Atomic Drop a "Reverse Piledriver" during Summerslam '92?  I can't really remember it being called that any other time and was wondering if it was due to some sort of broadcasting rule in this country or something?

  8. I had a bit of an argument about a month ago after a random bloke started quizing my other half about the Metallica shirt she had on. Now, we have both listened to Metallica since we were kids, so she could answer most of the questions this sad act was asking, but it really rubbed me up the wrong way. It was the usual bullshit, like who was her fave bass player and which of their early albums were her faves, basically anything to make himself feel more of a man...

Ended up with him walking off down the isles of Morrisons shouting about how he hates it when "new fans"(his words) latch on to the mighty "'tallica"(also his word) and he listened to them before they were signed. Since he was about 21, I really doubted that...What a nob!

Several games on the NES, years before the SNES, had battery backup saving. Including both Zelda titles. It was nothing new during the SNES era. Certainly not any kind of "upgrade" for sure.

Well, to me it may have well been witchcraft, as it was the first that I had come across!

Remember the times when you bought a console, there was one version of it, an entire game was on a disc, there was no such thing as DLC or micro transactions and it was much more simpler and fun? Those were the days. You can keep your ps4 pros and your X Box one X Y Z.

Wasn't every game released in the old cartridge glory days effectively a hardware upgrade, with different effect chips and memory etc...

I remember buying "Kevin Keegan's Player Manager" on the SNES and being amazed that you could actually save the game as it had a battery back up built into the console!

  11. It really was a gift from the gods that this site went down for the Knights, considering some of the comments made previously in this thread.

I feel so sorry for them though. I can't imagine what it feels like to have your daughter life choices so closely scrutinised like this...

  12. Thanks for the advice on the wrestling add ons all!

I'm not holding my breath, but does anyone know an add on that shows the t'old Video Nasties? I own the majority of them, but im looking to try and watch them all over a few weeks, and need to way to fill in the ones I don't and can't get hold of...

  13. Sign up today with a different email address than you used and you'll Fast Lane and Wrestlemania as part of your free month.

Or if it doesn't work out that (I.e you need cancel by a certain point in the month) then at worst you pay a tenner for both.

I'm not condoning signing up every month under a different email address just to get it for free, but if your just wanting it short term that'll probably be the easiest way to go and you don't come across like wrestleuk

Ive signed just signed up again, as I saw there was a network add on. But when ive gone on it, the live stream doesnt work.

Will have to just play it using a web browser. I prefer using kodi as I can use a remote to control it, but never mind...

  14. Ive asked in the on topic questions thread, but thought it would be better here...

Is there any add ons for Wrestling? Ive got the network, but the add on doesnt work for me and fancy watching the PPV tonight. All I can get work on the add on is some of the on demand stuff...

  15. Is there any decent Kodi add ons that show the PPV's live and have the back catalogues?

I used to have the network but let the subscription laps due to not watching it, but really fancy giving Fast Lane a go...

  16. "You deserve it" at Bray Wyatt. Absolutely abhorrent behaviour and guilty of what, 3 kidnappings in the last 4 years. I blame full sail.

The Bray Wyatt one isn't as bad though, as the commentators can explain it away with the t'old "he's brainwashed the crowd into following him" like they do with the mobile phone lights during his entrances and the phase of singing "He's Got The Whole World" at him, which would make sense to the casual/young fans...

  17. Wasn't the cost of manufacturing the actual tapes a lot more expensive for niche titles? Can't imagine WWE would produce huge numbers of product compared to say, a Hollywood blockbuster, which would translate in much higher overheads?

I'm not saying this is the case by the way, just making a (slightly) educated guess...
