In their defence, their model is print on demand. There are 1000’s of Bron Brekker tees currently in a warehouse waiting to go on clearance once a better t-shirt gets designed.

I'm very surprised WWE hasn't gone down the print on demand route...

  2. The thing is, he has never, ever said he was totally innocent in all this. He's admitted he gave as good as he got "banter" wise, and has said things he himself regrets saying. So things like this was going to come out. It doesn't negate everything else though...

  3. I know Azeem  fairly well, although hadn't seen him for a few years until he moved into a place next door to one of my friends(after receiving death threats once Yorkshire got suspended of holding International cricket at Headingly).  I got talking to him last week about all this stuff, and I honestly don't think he will ever get over it. He just seemed a shell of his former self and an emotional wreck, poor lad. He was a really top lad years ago too, so all the shit coming out has really got to me.

By the way, he himself will admit he isn't totally innocent when it comes to the "banter" that cuts close to the bone, but it doesn't make the things he has experienced acceptable. I hope he can move on now though and get his love for the sport back. He could make a difference in righting the many wrongs in the game.

Domestic football is club teams playing against each other within a country, bud. I may have misread you post, mind. Apologies if so.

I always took the "non-domestic" thread to be for posts relating to non British teams football in general, not just for all International football(I think there was a seperate one for Scottish football too). The way it's named does point towards it being geared towards national teams, though. If I remember right, it was created to stop the main thread getting sidetracked by talk of who a group of posters Spanish/Italian/German/etc teams were...

I’m in the same position, I’m desperately trying to get back into work after a 13 year break (I’ve done the odd shifts for mates but that’s it).

finding someone that will give me a chance is proving a bit of a nightmare and getting me down. I’m honest with them about my MS but I tell them how well I’ve been managing. I’m either not hearing back from employers at all or just “unsuccessful” without even getting an interview.

Have you thought about doing some voluntary work? I started by volunteering at the Citizen's Advice Bureau a couple of days a week, mainly to show any possible employers that I could physically cope with a days work. It did seem to work, as it indirectly led to the job I'll be starting soon.

  6. Others have already mentioned it, but Summerslam '92 was the first ever wrestling show I'd seen("American" style, that is. I'd seen the World of Sport stuff) and I was luckily to be there live. I wasn't sure if wrestling was actually for me while watching the show, until the entrances kicked in for the last match. I knew almost immediately that Bret was shit hot, and the Bulldog was the big British hero, and I couldn't decide who I wanted to win. By the end of the match though, I'd fell in love with the sport and my heart was pounding thanks to all the near wins. It's still my favourite match to go back and watch too.

Another one was the Bret/Owen cage match. I'd never seen a cage match with as many realistic false finishes, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Brilliant stuff...

  7. Has anyone got any experience/tips about transitioning back into full time employment after a long time out?

My disability is well under control now thanks to the meds really doing their job, so last week I decided to try and get back into work after about 9 years of working sporadically for myself. i was lucky enough to get an interview for a full time position in the public sector last Friday, asked back for a second interview on Wednesday and was offered the job(which I accepted) a few hour later. Now I'm panicking, though. It's been so long since I had a structured 9-5 job I'm worried it's going to be too much for me in the early stages. Has anyone got any advice on how to prepare/handle the change, please?

I don't start until early December due to them moving offices, so i have a little time to get things sorted...

  8. I've got three, that are hard to choose from for me:

Firstly, the most cleanly struck volley I've seen:

Darren Barnard in the 7-1 hammering of Huddersfield

Then this was hard to watch live, but a great goal:

Trevor Sinclair vs Barnsley at Loftus Road

Finally, another against my club. I loved Ginola as a player, and this was a pleasure to watch:

    Ginola vs Barnsley

Not sure about that, if you've purchased a movie or boxset it should be yours to keep regardless of rights.  It's a bit like Buy & Keep from Sky, if they no longer have the movie available to purchase, it'll still remain on your box.  Unlike Sky Cinema, once they lose the rights to the movie it automatically deletes from your planner even if you have recorded it.

I agree, that's how it should be. It happens though:

If you're talking HDD failure, then you can always re-download them via the usual sources.

I'm thinking more along the lines of never actually owning the film(despite "purchasing" it digitally), and the risk of the selling platform losing the rights and withdrawing it. I'm not sure if it has actually happened with movies/TV shows, but it has with music and ebooks which work on the same licensing basis.

Obviously, if Seph is happy to sail the pirate seas for his movies then he wouldn't have that issue...

This isn't related to any film in particular, but I'd like some input - I've quit Sky after many years, and with neither the funds nor the space to buy physical copies of most films available, what's an acceptable ratio in your views of physical & digital purchases?

Any titles that you would feel lost without, buy physical copies as even with digital "purchases", they can be taken away at any time.

  12. Ghostwatch is one of those shows that you had to experience "live" to fully understand. Looking back on it now, the acting from much of that cast is soo wooden and crap(although, the non-actors like Parky, Sarah Green etc are really believable) that you wonder how you could be taken in by it. But live, it was truly terrifying.

In interviews they've claimed there's a 3 season plan to the thing and that season 2 continued to follow said plan even after the massive explosion in popularity.
Obviously making lots of money is a powerful motivator towards ditching your set story plans and letting things run until people get sick of you but yeah, I believe the party line is still "this is a story with a set beginning, middle and end"

They have signed a deal with the Premier League to include real teams, kits, stadiums and players(etc) so I've got a feeling it may run for a few more years than originally planned to get their money's worth.

I recon it could survive another couple of series without losing it's shine. There are enough things in English football it could play on, and that's without the American in England jokes and storylines.

  14. Steiner's kid not being billed as such is one of the things that makes my head spin about of WWE do their business.

You have a kid there with a good look, and who's dad and uncle are not only in the discussion for greatest tag team of all time, but legitimately rock hard. He'd immediately have that sense of legitimacy and kick start his career. The same went for Perfect's Kid, and even Bulldog's at first.

I don't think they've had strikers that were in high demand from other clubs, have they? Tevez obviously. Demba Ba, Bellamy. Mostly though, they've had a striker that'll get them about 10 in the league supplemented by some back ups that are dross, injured, or haven't clicked. They've not had ones approaching 20 goals a season for a long time anyway.

No, it was just a(poorly worded) example of why I still don't think they will they would have had a striker scoring boatloads year in year out for an extended period of time even if they could identify and develop them.

But as it is, unless there is a buyout they will continue to be run like paupers, despite betting in excess of £100m a season in TV money and a full 50 odd thousand seater stadium that they pay a pittance in rent for.

  16. You're never going to get many modern day West Ham strikers go on to get anywhere near 50 goals for the club, because of both their place in the football world, and the clubs ownership. They could have signed Ronaldo, Messi and Micheal Ricketts all in their prime, and the minute they approached the 20 goal mark in a season, half the Premier League would be bidding the lower end of their market value, and Brady and her mates would bite their hands off.

I totally feel the fan's pain too. We get it all the time as Barnsley fans...

Warner is a bunny over here, true enough. On an overcast day on the first day at Old Trafford Roy would struggle but I think YJB might do OK. But I'd rather he had the gloves

Malan is back so he'll go to 3, Haseeb back to the top of the order.

I'm trying to think of our last decent opening partnership. It's surely Strauss and Cook isn't it? That's gotta be 10 years ago.

I think you might be right about Cook and Strauss. We're paying the price for the ECB focusing everything on white ball cricket to win the World Cups(just like we were with the white ball teams when they were obsessed with getting to the top of the Test rankings). Even more now with this Hundred bollocks. I'm pretty sure we have the population, set up and heritage to do well in all the formats, if the ECB could get their fingers out of their arses.

I saw an article somewhere a while back suggesting that the way forward would be to relax the overseas player rule, and let 3 or 4 at once in the team. i think the thought was along the same lines as those that think the Premier League having so many imports has raised the quality of the English players. Not sure what I think of that though.

I'm still all for sticking Bairstow and Roy up there and giving it a whack, ODI style. What's the worst that could happen? They've tried practically every opener in the country and they all failed.

I wouldn't be against Roy being tried there. If he can get his head out of white ball mode, he's got the ability, that's for sure. YJB should still have the gloves instead of Buttler for me though. I don't think I've seen a player scream "white ball specialist" more than he Buttler, so he should just stick to that.

I'm a bit out of touch with the County game at the minute. Are there any wonderkids coming though to get excited about?
