  1. Klitschko fight... hard to know what to say. If that is a legit knee injury (and he seems to be walking fine now), then I feel bad for Solis. But the knockdown punch was barely a grazing blow.

  2. Also, Klitschko has pulled out of the Chisora fight AGAIN. This is the man who would be fine to fight 2 fights in 6 weeks. Lets re-emphasise this. He has not reinjured himself, this is no new injury, this is the original one.

errrrrrrrr, he's pulling out of the fight to fight Haye instead.

The fight is still not confirmed and they can't say that outright but I repeat what I said. This is the man who REPEATEDLY boasted he would be taking both fights, not screwing over one fighter at the last minute with a stream of BS.

Shame for Johanssen tonight. Thought he put up a good fight and the score cards were WELL out but I think the result went the right way. If he does call it a day he won't go out in shame.

  3. Its on at 6pm tomorrow night on Sky Sports. Alverez came in over weight so had to sacrifice 30% of his purse for the fight. I can see Alverez stopping Hatton, i think he'll be to big and powerful for him I think it's a joke Hatton is fighting for a title at a weight he has never fought at before.

Anyway, heres a great you tube clip of Sugar Ray Robinson - The Greatest of All Time according to many experts.

I wish that Sky had picked up the Hatton fight but I am looking forward to seeing Carl Johanesson against Sykes tonight. I hope he can show some of the form of 3 years ago.

  4. Also worth noting a few other things that happened this weekend.

Lenny Daws was dropped and eventually lost on points to Ashley Theophane to lose his British light welterweight championship.

Tyson Fury knocked out Marcelo Luiz Nascimento in the fifth round

Junior Witter, one of my own personal fave fighters, looked dreadful in his points loss to Victor Lupo.

Also, the McDermott fight is here:

  5. Does anyone remember Gerald McClellan? A lot of the God-fearing types in the States thought his brain damage was a punishment from God because he abused animals, didn't they?

A class fighter. Would have loved to have seen him and Roy Jones fight in the pros but was sadly never to be. As for animal abuse, he was accused of being involved in dog fighting I believe.

  6. Eternal Sonata (about 3/4 though)

Loved the game, hated the ending. I say no more.

I am switching between Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and now just trying to clean up the loose ends like feathers etc, FM11 on the PC and Rock Band 3. Putting 'Through Glass' up as DLC this week made me extremely happy.

Got a week off work next week so planning to crackon with GUN, Just Cause 2 & possibly Mafia II.

  7. Evander Holyfield is in action again this weekend, morbid curiosity will mean i'll tune in.

For those interested this was a 3 round no contest. After an accidental headbutt Holyfield received a cut over his left eye but with the way the fight was going, I think Williams would have beat him.

The match ending moment is here...

  8. Tyson Fury is set to face veteran Francois Botha next month i London...i'll be tuning in for that and praying that The White Buffalo scores the upset.

Might try and get tickets for that, could be interesting. Enjoying seeing Carl 'Low Ki' Johannsen in the ring again and hope he has found the passion again as he was one of my favourite domestic fighters, loved the way he took apart Ricky Burns. The way that Kirakosyian destroyed him nearly four years ago was so hard to watch as was the defeat to Kevin Mitchell but both those fighters are genuine class.

Interested in the main event. Jamie McDonald is a good fighter and heard good things about Jamoye. Good start to the televised boxing year IMHO.

  9. Call me an idealist but in view of the world heavyweight title fight being non-existent from the PPV, I would have thought thta reduced PPV cost could have been in line.

Not to have a go, but I take exception to that. Why is it that heavyweights are seen as the only ones worth watching? They're not automatically better fighters just because they're big.

And if you look back at the posts I make it should be very clear that I am not just a heavyweight fan however that was one of the marquee fights of the night, a world championship heavyweight title fight. I still bought it and enjoyed it in the main. The Kahn fight was superb and enjoyed the DeGale fight too but I stand by my original statement.

  10. I am going to make a call now. The more I hear about Pac Mans build up to tonight, the more I fancy Margarito. I am going to go with Marg for the win despite my love for one of the best boxers over the last 2-3 years.

  11. I love that Jim Watt basically just said that all the hype was bullshit and anyone who bought into it was an idiot.

It was quite embarrassing really. Audley didn't want to be there, did he?

And Watt was right in pretty much everything he said. I paid for it, wasn't a great fight but unlike the Khan Vs Prescott event, I don't feel jiped as that sort of fight was always potentially on the cards.

Now barring a miraculous result for Chisora, I see a fight agaist Wladimir in the early months of 2011.

  12. Booing? Idiots. Lets see them go in to a ring cold against a 6ft+ former olympic champion. Again, idiots!

After 4-5 rounds if there is still nothing, then fair enough.

  13. Me and the wife will fork out for it at some point, I dare say.

My heavily pregnant wife appreciated us watching Dumplings last night, a Hong Kong horror film about some ageing actress who tries to find the key to eternal youth by eating dead foetuses. At least it was a change from the long haired female ghouls you usually get in Oriental horror, but it still wasn't very good. The director is called Fruit Chan though, which earns it an extra point.

    4/10.

We did see a long haired ghoul in Shutter though, a Thai effort from another amusingly named director - Parkpoom Wongpoom. What a fucking great name. Shame the film didn't live up to it though - usual stuff about vengeful ghost, but at least it didn't have a bit in a lift like most of these films do.

    4/10.

We had a Neil Marshall double bill as well courtesy of Dog Soldiers and The Descent. Dog Soldiers is still great fun and has quite a decent twist in it as well. The ending's crap and doesn't make any sense at all, but the bit with the cow is fantastic and Sean Pertwee is as fun as he always is. He's underrated, that bloke.

The Descent rewarded another viewing though but I get the impression that Marshall doesn't know how to end his films, going for a Carpenter-esque bluff ending that isn't really necessary here. It's still fantastic though with a slow build built around characterisation, which was nice. The sequel seems to be getting something of a reappraisal but I know I may well hate it.

    7/10 and 9/10 respectively.

I thought Shutter was quite good myself and I am not really in to the Asian horror thing. I watched that and 'Pray' back to back. That was a fun little J horror but if you didn;t like Shutter or Dumplings, probably best to avoid.

  14. The majority will be on sky sports but I think all the fights on the 13th will be put together on one big show on sky box office,

Jeepers, your hopeful. More like the minority of those fights will be on Sky Sports. Of that November list, only the Matthew Hatton fight and Prizefighter is confirmed for sky sports. Obviously Haye v Harrison is on Box Office, possibly with Pacquiao v Margarito with it but thats far from 100%.

That'll be it, barring them picking something unlikely up.

I believe Sky are trying to pick up Marquez Vs Katsidis as the winner is a strong contender for the next Khan fight. The others like the Judah fight I will probably end up getting from US traders or streams or maybe Showcase will pick them up.

  15. November is loking so good for fight fans. Check out this line up!

Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito (WBC junior middleweight championship)

    27th

    ===

That lot will do me nicely!

  16. Derek Chisora will take on Wladimer Klitschko for the IBF and WBO World Heavyweight titles on December 11th

And will get murdered. I'll call it now.

And it isn;t quite finalised yet but I expect Wlad to take it... easy pay day.

  17. holy fucking shit... that was the cherry on the cake for the night. Sad to see it happen to Enzo, but that was an absolutely brutal KO. Seeing Enzo refuse oxygen at the end whilst clearly out of it was a sad sight. Enzo has to hang em up, nobody recovers from a knockout like that.

Enzo never recovered from the Haye fight sadly. Tonight I hope will be the last time Enzo will go in the ring.

  18. Man V Food

I like to think I could actually do some of those challenges. Given the right circumstances I have a predigious appetite. Some of the chilli based ones are just stupid though.

One of my favourite shows. I did consider doing a Man Vs Food UK... no camera, just me and a 'bring it on' attitude.

This weekend one of my mates undertook a food challenge, inspired by Man vs Food.

He attempted to eat a 500g lamb burger sandwiched between two Chicago Town 4 cheese mini pizzas, with chips and a side salad, and drink 4 pints within the space of an hour.

Sadly he got very close but didn't quite make it to the end.

Doesn't quite do the size of the burger justice, but -

I am guessing this is a home made conncocotion rather than an actual restraunt challenge? That looks vicious though....

I enjoy watching that too. I laugh out how the yanks take themselves so seriously lol Imagine if there was a British version done by Channel 4 with people from Time Team

You end up with this :D
