  1. James De Gale....The Audley Harrison of the Super-Middleweights.

Erm.... no, not really. Harrison never showed the bottle DeGale did or took shots like DeGale did in that fight and I don't even like the guy!

  2. In about 20 minutes mate. Really enjoying the coverage, Enzo Macranelli does know what he is talking about.

However, get rid of Richard Keyes as an anchor! Get your hairy hands back to football radio and stop rolling your eyes at Buncey! Ready made replacement in Andy Kerr. Make it happen Frank.

  3. I just had a WTF moment. I was just thinking how I used to have a crush on the dark haired woman in the House Of Elliot and checked to see whhat she is up to now. Just realised I have been watching her for years on CSI but boy does Louise Lombard look different now!

    Then (on the right)

  4. The new Lucozade advert suprises me on a few levels and all of them are levels of crap. Firstly, a cover of a song ('Buck Rogers' by Feeder) that is on a level of piss-poority as the cover of A track 'Number One' used in Young Persons Guide To Becoming A Rock Star'

Secondly, using the The James Cleaver Quintet? Screamo arsery adopting their sound for the masses, big suprise there.

Thirdly, the unashamed demographic of going for what the 'kids' of today like with the skateboards and 3 wheeler! Should have done it properly, the band in front of a bored looking crowd with their arms crossed in Camden, waiting for something good to happen then walking out to the streets which are being looted and on fire.

  5. re-watched Michael Katsidis/Graham Earl last night...

what an absolute classic, 5 of the most savage rounds ever to take place in a boxing ring. For one and a half rounds it looked like it was gonna be a blowout, Earl down 3 times and having his corner throw in the towel (which was promptly kicked out of the ring by the ref) only for Earl to land a pearl of a right hand almost immediately after to drop Katisidis. The floodgates open after that and the two men batter each other before Earl's pulled out by his corner after 5.

The anti-climatic finish harms it a little but you can't fault what went down in them 5 rounds. Katsidis is probably my favourite fighter.

Does anyone know (Taylorslade im looking at you) why Earl's corner were so insistent on getting him out of there? First the corner came in, then they threatened to pull him out between rounds, then they did after 5. I know it was a brutal fight but Earl was still in it and he won round 5 for me (although i think it was more to do with Katsidis taking a round off after the ridiculous amount of punches he threw in round 4). Was there any reason other than he was taken a lot of shots to the head?

Earl would never quit when there are times you just wish he would stay the hell down. The Khan fight is a good example of that. I don't think that match was stopped to early. May I sugeest that you people who are loving Earl and Katsidis check out our own Michael Hunter! Now there is a man who gave everything in the ring!

  6. Little side question. What is your favourite song by each member outside of The Beatles? I would have to say:

    Paul: Band On The Run

    John: Jealous Guy

George: Got My Mind Set On You/When We Were Fab (can't split the two, love them equally for different reasons)

    Ringo: Back Off Bugaloo

  7. AS IF!!

and cheers for the link gonna get that watched.

Just throwing it out there but john and george were way better writers than paul in fact it was unfair on george a really good writer having to compete with lennon/mccartney to get songs on there.. luckily ringo is shit at song writing so he didnt have to worry about trying to get a song on the albums.

I think George is so under rated. The most interesting Beatles songs tend to be his (including my favourite) and when it comes to solo works, it is his that I adore, especially 'When We Were Fab'. As for my fave Beatles songs, would say these are my top 6:

    6) Revolution

    5) Everybody's Got Something To Hide (Except For Me And My Monkey)

    4) Across The Universe

    3) A Day In The Life

    2) Yesterday

    1) While My Guitar Gently Weeps

  8. Being 40, does she meet criteria?

Anyway- that mascot for Doncaster that has been all over SSN lately

As a Donny fan, I don't know where the dog ends and the mascot outfit begins. If ever there was a BOBFOC, it is there. Also, have you heard her talk... FFS!

  9. Groves vs DeGale. Groves has a defence like Lincoln City and leads with his chin more than Jimmy Hill. I cant see him lasting 12

I give Groves a chance for 2 reasons.

    1) DeGale hasn't had a gut check like Groves had in his last fight. And because of that...

    2) DeGale might believe his own hype, drop his hands get over confident and lose like he did in the amateurs.

I personally want Groves to win as I think DeGale will benefit more from the defeat, like the way Khan has.

On a seperate note, that undercard has a cracking fight on it. Frankie Gavin v Young Mutley should be superb. Mutley is not as good as he was a few years back but he is stilla huge step up in class for Gavin and could be a very interesting yardstick indeed.

  10. been catching up on my history today too, got hold Muhammad Ali: Ringside (4 disk set)...it's great to see the old stuff in such good quality and although im a boxing fan a lot of this stuff i haven't seen.

Saw Clay/Liston I today, it's a great example of how good Clay was in certain respects, his head movement and speed is blistering, the 3rd round is outstanding Liston couldn't put a glove on Clay. The following rounds is all controversy though, the burning eyes/quitting nonsence. It's one of the most talked about and controversial fights of all time...i need to read more into it.

Best book, IMHO, is this one

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Muhammad-Ali-His-L...810&sr=1-12

Written quoting the people who were there and knew Ali as well as Ali himself. Is a really interesting read.

  11. *NO SPOILER VERSION* Just wathced the Maidana fight. What an awful ref. How many warnings before you do anything! I say that it was a wrong decision. Roll on next week...

  12. anyone watching Mayorga/Cotto this weekend? its gonna be brutal.

ive been watching a lot of Mayorga stuff this week, total maniac. I love combat sport hype, and a lot of it is hype/playing up for the camera's, but with Mayorga's it's legit. that guys got an element of danger about him, he seems unstable. It makes for exciting viewing, i love it!

    Is it on Sky, mate?

It was on the 12th mate, has been and gone. Info here:
