  1. People like the hype before a fight and we all know stupidity sells. Morally the fight isn't right after what happened, but things like this have happened before and will happen again. The build up beforehand will be more exciting then the fight itself. Haye will just use his superior boxing skills to keep Chisora at bay and win a wide points decision.

You think? I see Haye by knockout. I see Chisora letting his heart rule his head and Haye will catch him like he did Enzo all those years ago.

The one thing I don't question about Chisora is his chin. The guy can take a punch and I'd be amazed if Haye knocked him out. I think something we can all agree with about Enzo is his chin has been gone since that Haye fight. Enzo likes to fight with his head up, Chisora has a good defence, keeps his gloves up high and chin low. It be spectacular if Haye could knock him out.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Chisora has a chin like Enzo, not in the slightest. More I can see him approaching the fight in a similar way. Any news on the final undercard or is there still a load of TBAs?

  3. Uisng build up to sell a fight to sell a fight as a 'grudge match', there are very direct parallels. The participants are light years apart but I am on about promotion and selling tickets and 'punters' who think a fight between a homophobic politician and a convicted woman abuser is much more acceptable then two British fighters who have gone from a brawl to settling it in the ring.

When both of those guys are fighting after getting their licences either revoked or refused then you have a comparison. Chisora and Haye were hitting each other with fucking bottles and threatening to shoot one another.

A bit of a difference there.

Well, there was one bottle involved and that was stupid. However, Mayweather has been calling Pacquiao a 'faggot', 'little yellow chump' along with numerous accusations of 'power pellets' being taken by Manny. Again I state same shit, different shade and flavour.

  4. Say Pacquaio vs Mayweather happens. That has been a panto for the last 2 years. Are you saying you wouldn't watch that? 'Oh but thats different, that is the best 2 pound for pound fighters blah blah blah'... no, same context. It has been built up to SELL a fight IF it happens, just like this one has.

You aren't comparing the Haye/Chisora fight to any possible bout between Pacquaio and Mayweather, are you?

Haye was the best british heavyweight we had at the time. Name another british fighter that had a sniff of beating Valuev in 2009? No-one. The british public love an underdog, not a cocky genunie talent (see Naseem during his day and, to an extent, Froch until the super 6). Part of me wishes he remained at Cruiserweight where he was, without doubt, untouchable but can't help but admire his ambitions. I am sure a loss to a Klitschko will look awful on his record when he finally retires  ...

I am interested to see how Cory Spinks does tonight. I think he will get his revenge on Bundrage but there is still that nagging doubt in my mind...

Looking ahead, the 3 fights I am really looking forward to are Tavoris Cloud vs. Jean Pascal, Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson and, most of all, Ricky Burns Vs Kevin Mitchell. 3 different fights but think all of them have potential to be absoloute crackers.

  6. was wondering whether Parcel-Force had got on TV, looks like it isnt on.You think the fact that the Haye/Chisora sanctioning debacle will harm any chance of Burns/Mitchell taking place? i wanna see that fight though.

I think the bad press of the main event is why Burns/Mitchell won't be on the card. Add to that it is in a main event fight in it's own right kinda makes sense not to play second fiddle.
  7. Khan a bigger star than Naz... when did this become the comedy thread?I still remain unsure about Kid Galahad. Yeah, he is a good domestic fighter, even a possible European Champion but is he better than Scott Quigg? Or Rendall Munroe? Or Kiko Martinez? And these guys are not even in the top 10 of the world. Someone like Nishioka would destroy him. Yes, you can say he has only had 12 fights but he is now WBC champion and these are the next steps (with the exception of Nishioka who is at least 2 years away).Everyone has an opinion on Haye Vs Chisora, I just hope it is a good fight, Haye wins convincingly and thats the end. Povetkin vs Rahman is a good undercard but if the Burns Vs Mitchell gets confirmed, as was the rumour, that fight is as good a reason to go as any. Maybe the karma of it will off set all the bollocks of this being 'bad for boxing'.On a side note, does anyone know if next weekends A-Farce fight is getting picked up by any channel? I watched it from the start

  8. Demetri Martin and Henry Rollins are my personal favourites. recommended sets would be 'Comedy Central presents...' from 2004 for Martin and 'Shock & Awe' for Rollins.

  9. The Garcia fight was interesting as the mandatory challenger for the title is our own (well Nigerian but Olympic representation means nothing as long as they win, right Lennox!) Ajose Olusegun. He is still 30 and 0 and one hell of a talented fighter (the way he took apart Ali Chebah proved that) but he can't draw a penny and makes me think he will be overlooked again. I hope I am wrong on that front through.

The Molina fight, however, was a screw job of the highest degree. The only people callling for a DQ were the Golden Boy team and much worse has happened with no such outcome (Mayweather/Judah anyone?). If there is no rematch I hope that seriously over rated Kirkland gets his 'wish' and is put in there with Sergio Martinez as he would kill him!

  10. What the fuck was that shit? Mcphilibin should have that overturned to an NC, because if they hadnt cut the first round 40 odd seconds short, enzo would have been KOed severely. Corruption at its worst, he better get nowhere near cleverly!

gutted I didnt watch Premier Sports instead, check this peach out http://youtu.be/e6zKWQVENB8

It wasnt corruption, it was ineptitude of the highest degree on the time keepers part but there is no cloak and dagger here unlike the Khan fight (still reckon Khan lost the fight and when he shows a degree of humility and accepts his shortcomings may be accepted and adored by the british public).

I agree there should be a re-match and believe Enzo will give it to him as well.

  11. I had to say, the fight bored me despite all that happened. So much clinching and Mcphilibin is the most one dimensional fighter I have seen since Rogan. As for Enzo, he has never been the same since the Haye loss. I genuinely think Cleverly would destroy him.

  12. MJB & Hypes - Streets of Crewe

This has been doing the rounds of friends facebooks....pair of bellends or hot local talent? You decide

    The correct answer is 'bellends'

I think my favourite description of the track is this one...

'i'd sooner listen to my nan enjoying an orgasm achieved by violently inserting a dying shaved cat into her squelching vagina than have this curse my ears with utter retardation'

  13. Apparently former WBO LH Champ Julio Cesar Gonzalez has been killed today by a drunk driver.

Where is that being reported? I haven't seen or heard anything on that?

  14. I decided to stay up late to watch the Lopez Vs Salido fight and man am I glad I did! Back and forth all fight with both men giving it their all and a vicious combo to end it all! Round 9 is one of the best rounds of boxing I have seen in a LONG time. Seriously, a contender for MOTY.

  15. That whole thing was balls. Fury saying it isnlt about money but they wanted it on domestic TV and offered 100k. They would have made much more than that. Also the jibe about 'a channel with only 10'000 viewers. Yeah, but they are PAYING viewers and you have a deal with CHANNEL 5 FFS!

    As for Derek Chisora,

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

I have a hell of a lote more respect for him after tonights performance. A warrior who kept walking his man down. But then, Vitali didn;t look right against Shannon Briggs and looked worse tonight. I think he should call it a night there. He is looking worse and worse with each fight against less than great fighters.

  16. I've been getting into cooking a bit lately, mostly inspired by a desire to health up and get back the killer abs after the usual festive period binge. I'm a compulsive eater as well, and can easily shove down one or even two tubes of Pringles in one setting, so I've found cooking is a good way to cut down on my urges, eating later to stop hunger pangs late at night.

I'm still doing pretty simple stuff at the moment, and things that I can dip into when I'm hungry. Made a beautiful beansprout, red pepper and herb salad the other day that I've been picking at ever since, with a few cashews sprinkled over the top for a treat. Also a bit of a soup obsessive now, love pea and mint and anything with chilli. Tomato, red pepper and red chilli is a personal favourite. The only problem is that I always fancy having bread with it, lathered in butter and not in small quantities. I've tried to stick to a slice of seeded wholemeal loaf.

Anyone got any good healthy salad/soup recipes to recommend for this time of the year?

--Oh, and as a sidenote I'm sure things like crisps and sweets and highly addictive physically. The first two weeks I cut them out were terrible, I couldn't believe how much I craved a good solid bag of Kettle Chips or a bag of tangfastics. As the time has moved on, I no longer feel desperately in need, so I'm presuming I've flushed the dependency out of my system.

Soups are the easiest things in the world mate. For me, simplest one:

    - One/two chicken stock cube (Telma if you can get them)

    - Two pint water

    - Fresh herbs (or dried will do)

    - one onion

    - one carrot

    - chicken thighs, skin removed

Whole lot in a pot, medium heat (about 4-5 on the hob) and leave for about an hour until the meat is done and literally falling apart. Great for cold days.

  17. Watched the Edison Miranda fight on ESPN. Hadn't heard much about Chilemba but he looked good against a man who has only ever lost to top quality opponents. Could be one to watch...

  18. Cheers for the couple of tips on the marinades/spices, I'll have a butchers for the stuff when I go shopping tomorrow. Though even low fat yoghurt has quite a lot of sugar in it and I'm on a low carb high protein diet.

    Use Greek yoghurt.

Even Total 0% has sugar but would be my recommendation. Dannon also have very low sugar apparently.
