mdh85
They should be doing (or at least linking to and making a fuss out of) this kind of stuff on WWE.com rather than leaving guys like Zach to do it on their own private YouTube accounts. Let them have more or less free creative reign within certain established boundaries, stick it on the website, and see who and what gets over. If it bombs, its not on the main shows so its no biggie - they have unlimited online "TV time" to expose their undercard talent, so what have they lost? If it works you've got a guy over with a chunk of the audience, and you can bring that more established character onto Raw and SmackDown! - at the very least it gives the guys extra opportunities and experience when it comes to talking, acting and character development. They have absolutely nothing to lose - apart from Vince's precious micro-managed control over every aspect of everything that carries the WWE brand. It's understandable that creative focuses on the main event storylines and talent, but the lack of any kind of depth to the stories and characters on the undercard could easily be resolved by letting stuff evolve organically from the workers' personalities. Not exploiting the possibilities of video streaming and social networking sites to do that more thoroughly is a huge missed opportunity. Â There's already evidence of it working: The Dirt Sheet played a big role in getting Miz and Morrison over, and a lot of Michael Cole's heel character was foreshadowed by his comedy appearences in those parody "soap opera" skits they did a few years back. Seems like they've knocked all those WWE.com shows on the head though.

aaron
It would be unwise to not use the internet in this fashion. Â It's not at all counter-productive. You could say it's not helped guys like Hardy and Ryder but I doubt it hurt them either. Â Every company should be looking at how they can increase their visibilty within the various online social networks that best suit their demographics. In WWE's case, Twitter and Facebook should be up there alongside their most potent marketing tools. Â Gotta get into the future. Â Â How did it not hurt Hardy? He was in a feud with Drew McIntyre which was dying off on TV so Hardy got his Iphone out and starting hiding in showers and empty locker rooms and put it on youtube, soon after he was released. Â Given how fat and shit he'd become, he would have been released regardless of what he done online.
RepoMan
I'd give Mason Ryan a YouTube channel where he has an open Duel invitation and smacks the shit out of teeny jobbers. Â Not on podiums though, just randomly running at people with those big sticks. Â Gimmick weapons work well for heel people. The Miz has a briefcase, HHH has a sledgehammer. Mason Ryan with a loaded Pugil stick would be money.
