  1. I've known you all my life

At least that's how it seems

    Never known another way

Living out on a dreamNow I know you're making me leave and I'll never understand

Before I have to walk away, I have one last demand

    Refrain

Sell me a pie and say that you won't go

Look in my eyes and tell me even though

I realize you had to walk away

    No raffle yesterday

    You always promised a rumble

    Flying high above

    Always looking out for twenty

    the number that I love

But now my dreams are fadin like age-old mushy peas

That hurt too much to look at now, remind us of Chinese

    Refrain

Maybe we could keep it together

    Maybe it could last forever

Maybe if you just sell me a pie

Maybe then, we'll never say goodbye

  2. This is a hard post for me to write.   Ever since I’ve been a small un, I’ve loved professional wrestling, its inspired me to do what I do.

When I heard that there were spots available in the UKFF battle royal, and that I had been given the number 17 spot, I thought that despite being 34, slightly overweight, and having no athletic prowess, I finally had the chance to live my dream and be a wrestler., But the pressure of the industry… the travel.   I guess what I want to say is that it all mounts up.   Somewhere along the way I lost my smile.

So LPW, I guess I’m going to have to give up my number 17 spot in the UKFF Meat Royal Rumble, stay at home and see if old DWN can get his smile back.

    Thank you.

  3. I have watched all the NWA/WCW stuff from the start on the network and am up to 1994 in order and believe that Bobby the Brain Heenan does not get enough credit on making WCW a lot more watchable when he joined WCW he is well know for being one of if not the greatest manager of all time but his commentary is amazing

Yeah, he's pretty good for the early part of his stint, (my own viewing has gotten up to 96, and he's fantastic as the guy who "told you so" about Hogan) but towards the end of his stint he pretty much phones it in, even dissing the product on air.

  4. I thought Bischoff comes across well in the first interview.   The only thing that seems to make him squirm is

his treatment of Jim Ross when he took over.  I think that Bischoff has mellowed and built a lot of bridges.   Overall though, I think that Bischoff got off easy, though the 2nd part will be interesting when his errors start to come up.

  5. Do you think there's any drive to get NXT on normal telly in the states? I know they tried for ages before but I haven't heard if they're still trying. I also know that nobody wants to advertise during wrestling so it's a tough sell and all that.

I don't think so. Long and short of it is that if I'm trading with WWE, I want to be able to see all the big WWE names on my show.   So, either you'll get 20 minutes of wrestling, 10 minutes of promos interviews and 20 minutes of what's happened on Raw and Smackdown, or you start having crossovers which will lead to the decline of NXT as a separate "brand"

On the other hand, if I'm WWE, I'm trying to keep Network Subs going.   NXT is a great tool to put on there, in the same way that Amazon and Netflix are making their own shows.

  6. I honestly believe the way Jericho was getting over in wcw he could have been a star in the dying days of wcw. Russo would gave loved to gave Jericho at his disposal and if you think about in 98/99 he was the most over undercard guy in the company and clearly moving forward as he'd been elevated to us champ

Yeah, but a bit more success in 2000/01 wouldn't have made up for the fact that if he'd wanted to have gone to the WWF after WCW went under, he'd have had the ex WCW guy stigma at a time when WCW was no longer an option.   He'd probably have ended up in Wrestlers court for looking at Hardcore Holly's Tizer funny, or not showing the correct respect to the Undertaker while he was eating a Wispa.

In all seriousness he'd be competing with a spot with a lot of other ex WCW guys rather than having the bonus points of leaving superb money for a chance to wrestle for WWF for a bit less.   .

  7. Apologies if somebody already mentioned this but having just watched Triple H's intro to Takeover on TV, I bet he was pissed off with how it turned out.

He came out ten minutes before they were scheduled to go live, made the UK tour announcement, and then explained that he had this cool idea to start the live show. He wanted all of the crowd to be completely silent, the spotlight would just be on him in the middle of the ring and after his short speech the lights would come up to reveal a sold out crowd who would then go mental.

He went through the plan THREE times, explaining the importance of everyone being quiet. Even going as far as to say "I know you're all pumped up so get it out of your systems now" and paused while everybody cheered.

But as it happened, I could hear around me odd shouts of "CM PUNK!" and "ECW!" and other cutting edge comments, followed by people yelling "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" twice as loud as the people already shouting.

I was right at the back of the arena and hoped they hadn't picked much of it up on TV. But having just watched it, it was a huge letdown.

Getting Wrestling crowds, particularly super smart ones that would want to go to a NXT show,  to behave like you want them to is nigh on impossible these days.   See Reigns, Roman.

Trips did well to get what he got from them.

    ,

  8. That 8 man tag match really should have been the opener on the Takeover show. That pop was insane and made them look big time

I agree.   Part of me thinks that they should just bite the bullet and do a 3hr NXT Special.   Only problem is I guess what do you do for the following TV episode?

  9. Here's the actual first round (just matches, no results)

    • Samoa Joe and Finn Balor vs. The Lucha Dragons
    • Rhyno and Baron Corbin vs The Ascension
    • Jason Jordan and Chad Gable vs. Solomon Crowe and Neville
    • Tyler Breeze and Bull Dempsey vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

    Ta.

  10. Part of me thinks a post meltdown Hulk would be entertaining (Imagine the tall tales by the end of the run), part of me thinks that being on a TV Show, in front of video cameras and Microphones 24/7, on a network which is owned by the same group as the Daily Star is a terrible idea for a bloke trying to rebuild his reputation.

  11. So, this here Dusty Classic:

Spoilers for this week's NXT and possible future spoilers

So, we've got Rhyno and Corbin against the Ascension, and Neville is on the hunt for a partner.

I reckon that Team 3... erm the Dudley Boyz have got to be in there, with all their tag team accolades.

If Goldust is healthy, I wonder if he and Star Dust will team up?   Or to differentiate between the feud, have them come out as Dustin and Cody?

  12. Yeah, the classics are buffering like a mofo for me too at home.  I watch stuff in my lunch hour at work on 4G, and it seems fine, but in fairness that's probably because the volume of traffic in the states would be quite low at that time of day
