  1. This is kinda a wrestling question - a lot of wrestlers seem to be popping up at the comic convention type events around the world. I was wondering if anyone knows the business model for this? Are they paid a flat fee plus accommodation and travel or do they take all the risk and hope they make a profit charging 30 quid for a photo and autograph?

Tough one... it tends to vary between convention organisers. For example, there's some talent from TNA at Collectormania this year in Milton Keynes.

Given TNA is supposed to handle the outside bookings of its talent, I imagine that either accomodation is covered, or TNA pays for their air fair as a promotional cost. You'll probably get Jeremy Borash harrasing Stormtroopers to get them to the next tour...

  2. Memory's a bit vague to be honest. Cant believe it was 20 years ago though. I recall the ring announcer saying something like "The shows over, but there will be a short intermission while WWF Officials discuss a bonus match" Then it was Yoko Hacksaw

I think it was a DQ in Hacksaw's favour. You certainly had that "Go Home Happy" Moment.

  3.

UK Rampage wasn't a PPV, but OK.

    1. Why did the UK get poor matches when compared to other foreign shows on the tour?

For instance we had Perfect wrestle one of the headshrinkers and Duggan wrestle Luger. As this was supposed to be all about Wrestlemania fallout im suprised they never did Steiners/Money Inc or even give us Yoko/Duggan & Luger/Perfect (Mania Rematch).

This is half a decent point. I say only half because Dublin, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth, Brighton and Exeter all got the superior and more logical line-ups given the talent on display, with the exceptions being that Lombardi wrestled as Kimchee rather than Brawler on all the other shows, and Jerry Sags and Yoko got the night off in Sheffield. So, fuck you Sheffield. I guess decision to show the weaker lineup on the one being broadcast live (and recorded for the tape) was made so as not to spoil for the fans still attending the later legs of the tour - Aberdeen, Newcastle, Brighton, London, Glasgow, Dublin - by broadcasting on telly the exact same show they were all going to see.

I was at Sheffield and we got Duggan/Yoko as a dark match

  4. Prime Time Wrestling, and it was tremendous.

Which gave us one of the best episodes of wrestling TV when Mr Perfect turned face in November 1992 I remember wanting to skip the matches and go back to the discussion bits to see how the angle was progressing. Heenan was class as ever trying to back pedal and keep him onside.

  5. The third title was in the possession of Rhino but was later stolen from his bag at an event.

    Yo yo yo etc...

Speaking of the FTW belt, will you be looking at non sanctioned belts like the FTW title and the Millon Dollar Belt?

    On reflection.

"Ted Dibase Bought it... Virgil legit left it at an airport once... Virgil won it, Dibase won it back, it went into a safe at titan... Austin held it for a bit... went into a safe.... Ted Jr held it for a bit.... went into a safe the end."

  6. Oh dear, and just after I decided to stop going to my local shows for a bit too.

If ever British Wrestling had the golden age that some dream of - the exposure of WWE, the popularity of the World Of Sport days, the critical acclaim of ROH and Japan and the percieved prestige of the NWA, magazine editors would be knocking on your door for features like the UKFF 50.

Instead, you do the work for free in addition to your own job, and yep for me, the UKFF 50 actually does make British wrestling seem a bit more exciting. I hope this unpleasant business blows over for you.

  7. Is this the same Ronin who did a show for GNP two years ago? Funny story, he wore a mask in his match, fair enough, at least three other wrestlers have done the same. But later, an unmasked man with the exact same build came out and wandered around the venue for a bit while the fans were still there. Oh yeah, and he wore a T-Shirt with "RONIN" written in massive letters.

thats because he's a mark for himself. if he sold the t-shirt at the show and was plugging it then it might make a bit more sense, but what he does is pretty much the equal of wearing a name tag.
To be fair, I think Tracy Smothers had the Gimmick table monopoly that day, with two full tables. Hardly anyone else got a look in.
