  1. lil heads up, Premier Sports (channel 433) are showing Abner Mares/Joseph Agbeko fight live on Sunday night, and before it they are showing the recent Rios/Antillon fight as well (which is required viewing), set your sky plus muthafuckers.

There's also a new channel which has popped up over the last few weeks, which is mostly free to watch, but I suspect that it is associated with PrimeTime, and serves to promote upcoming events. They've had an assortment of everything over the past 2 weeks that all seem to have connections with the fights which PrimeTime have been selling.

Tonight at 8pm, they are showing some kind of "Knockout special" which apparently features fights from 2007 alone, at 9pm they are showing Nathan Cleverly Vs Nadjib Mohammed.

Nothing too special, but it's free :D

    Channel 456 for Sky viewers.

  2. Thanks a lot! In the space of 4 posts I've had pretty much all my questions answered. Some of which before I even asked them.

These sets will tide me over until I find someone with Legendary Nights on DVD.

I'm plugging him again, but Superstars of boxing has all 12 episodes on one DVD, great picture quality and complete with DVD and Box cover art, all for only

  3. I've just been watching the O'reilly factor and Uncle Bill was just using the UK riots as a reason why the USA should refrain from establishing a healthcare system like the NHS, saying that's why the riots are happening.

I've also just heard two pikey slags who are part of the rioters, on the BBC, saying the reason they are taking part is to get at the "Rich people who own the businesses round ere". For fuck's sake, from what I've seen, there's a lot of family owned local shops getting turned over, having a shop doesn't make you "rich", but it does make you somebody who is trying to better themselves and are a world apart from scum like those hags.

When this is all over, people will look for reasons why this happened, and ways to prevent it. However, the main issue here, is something very deep-rooted within certain cultures within this country. As all of you will of probably seen for yourselves, there has always been criminals in all areas of society who didn't care about the law, but over the last few years, there has been a growing number of kids growing up now who have absolutley NO fear of anything whatsoever and even less regard for the people around them (who aren't one of their "boyz"). All my life, I've always been brought up in a culture where , if you have a problem with someone so much that you have to fight, then you do arrange it, then fight, and leave it at that. This is the way it's been for me and everyone in my area for generations, and it's very rare that a fight actually happens, but now you see these kids who will just stab you for the fun of it.

Seeing that footage on the news of those scumbags pretending to help that guy who got clattered in the face, so they could rob him, really put me on a downer about this country. Societies always change, and quite fast, all over the world, I'm not disputing that and never have....but when I think of how far we have fallen since during WW2 and our "Blitz Spirit", it makes me very sad. If British society had been like this back then, then the Germans wouldn't of had to do much to us, as we would've destroyed ourselves for them.

This country is fucked, if I had the money, I would leave in the morning.

  4. Thank you very much for these two links. Been watching a lot of Tyson and Ali on YouTube and this was just the type of thing I was looking for, as I'm a sucker for Video Quality. Not happy about the Bruno fight being on there though, that match was sad to watch...:(

You're welcome :) As I said, those two sets are great, and you can find the Tyson one for as little as

  5. Am I missing something? It's cool to have the post match stuff and the exit from the arena, but is a handheld recording of the entire show that big a deal seeing as it was televised and released commercially?

No you're not missing anything. I just find the handheld footage really cool, especially as it's only come to light now. The guy lives near me, so I'm going to see if he has the full show, or anything else recorded, if he didn't live so near, then I probably wouldn't be making the journey.

To me, that 15-minute video is really cool, not only because of the footage contained, but the guy filming it had the sense to turn the camera onto his kids and capture them going nuts, so along with the cool footage, it also captures everything it meant to be a WWF fan of that age back then.

I think it's great, and I'd love it if he has more of this kind of thing, no harm in that.

  6. Here's a good story on the details surrounding the death of Arturo Gatti. I've been waiting quite a while for more light to be shed on this story, as I'm of the belief that all was not as it seemed.

    NEWARK, N.J. (AP)
  7. Agreed. That was awesome.

Well, when I watched the uploader's other videos, I saw that he lives in my area, so I began the process of trying to track him down, and I'm happy to say that I'm almost there, he doesnt use his Youtube account much, if he did then it would've been easy to contact him, but with nothing else to go on it's taken me almost a week. The reason I'm trying to contact him, is of course not only so I can see about getting a copy of that 15-minute clip, but I've got good reason to believe he filmed the entire show, or the vast majority of it, although I've no idea how he got away with it.

In the worst case scenario, and he only filmed those 15 minutes, then I will still be very happy to have a copy of just that, as it really is a significant find. However, if he did indeed film the rest of the show, then I might just come in my pants boys.

Ian will have a fucking fit when he sees this, wherever the fuck he is....

  8.

Even though it's a small show, it's clear to see that the wrestlers involved have all been taught properly, and that the match has been booked properly also, and everything is very well executed, especially the finish, and those are some of the massive differences between a legitimate independent pro wrestling show, and the bollocks currently being discussed over in the Shitarse EWE thread.

  9. I'm both proud and relieved it hasn't kicked off up here yet. I think it's probably mostly because of the lack of a real gang culture despite the omnipresent charvas, but I think there's probably also the realisation that we have such a predominant population of working class men in the area that the charvs would likely get kicked all over the shop if they started any shit. At least the precedents have been set now as regards vigilante groups, so it shouldn't take too long for areas like Sunderland and Newcastle (especially considering how relatively small the city centres are and the amount of local pubs) to get organised if anything did kick off.

Aye, I think you're right about that. If anything did go off up here, like say in Sunderland town centre, I think it would more or less be nipped in the bud before it got out of hand, with the lads in amongst the working class community who are seen to be like the fourth emergency service around here. Obviously I'm hoping that it doesn't get to the point where we find out though.

  10. It looked very monkey-esque when them ones jumped up and started ripping the telly off the wall in Ladbrokes yesterday as well.

Well all of this most certainly appears to have a tribal nature to it, and I'm really hoping that it doesn't continue to keep spreading across the country, because there are enough idiots and scumbags in every city in the UK for it to start catching on, and lasting for several more days.

  11. The excuses being offered up by these scumbags involved are pathetic. The best one being ; "The VAT's gone up!", I thought he was having a laugh but he wasn't. There's been quite a lot of appalling behaviour over the last few days, but the one that stuck with me was shown earlier on Sky News, when some poor guy who looked like he was just trying to get to work or something, and one of those scumbags cracked him in the face, and he began to bleed heavily, at which point another two guys appeared, and it looked like they were going to help him, but one just distracted him by pretending that he was trying to clean him up, while his mate opened the poor sod's rucksack and helped himself to whatever.

Fucking disgusting, and anyone who tries to justify any of these actions that we've seen over the past few days should be rounded up with those scumbags, lined up against a wall and shot dead.

It's even worse when you consider how many young men have died over the last few years, fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq for their country. I've no doubt that some idiot will pop up and try and dis-credit that fact and spout all of the usual anti-army/government bollocks, so I'll say in advance ; fuck off.

The nicey-nice manner in which these kind of disgraceful, pathetic excuse for human beings are dealt with is a joke. They bitch and complain about things like ; "Da guvernmint treet us like we are naffin blud, ya get me?" No I don't get you, but I wish I could....right between the eyes with a hollow-point bullet. What are they complaining about? No jobs? Well, join the fucking club, there are people who have slogged at Uni for years to get a degree and they can't even get a second interview for a dead end job. I wish we could put these idiots in a time machine, and drop them right in East London in 1888, now THAT was squalor and something to complain about....They are just scum, looking for any excuse to cause trouble, and are the kind who blame everybody else for their problems. I grew up in the worst area of Sunderland, in a house so cramped that I not only shared a bedroom with my brother and sister, but we also slept in the same bed, all three of us. I saw all kinds of things growing up, you name it. At the moment I'm not exactly a millionaire, infact I still have fuck all really, but I've achieved some good things in my time, and I certainly haven't blamed everybody around me for my misfortunes. These people just can't help themselves from degenerating and destroying themselves.

I'll say it again, these cunts have NO reason for doing this. Nothing but the desire to behave like cunts.

    Fucking scum.

  12. i highly recommend the Chavez documentary.

I couldn't agree more about the DVD situation though, ive never understood why they release so little. Frank Warren has put some out (he's behind all the Calzaghe, Hatton ones i believe), but the output is poor.

I'm not really a fan of the ones that Frank Warren has put out, mainly because he always gets someone to come in a re-do the commentary, which always ends up a disaster because unlike the original commentary, the guy doing the re-dub isn't even at the fight and is doing it in some sound booth in a recording studio, resulting in the commentary being too loud, the guy lacking any passion because he's not at the fight experiencing the atmosphere. The lad he brought in to provide the re-dubbed commentary for the Kostya Tzyu fight that was released on a Hatton DVD, was abolutley terrible, and I mean terrible, I can't really describe how bad it is, with him screeching and squealing the whole way through. I understand that doing this works out cheaper for Frank Warren, but if you're going to insist on doing that then for god's sake, bring the guy in and let him do a commentary track at ringside for future use. The Hatton Vs Mayweather DVD was a Golden Boy release, along with an independent production company in the UK, and that wasn't bad, but it also had retrospective commentary, and I think that spoils things. I bought it a few weeks ago from CeX for something like

  13.

Cool video, but totally spoiled by the disgusting comments just beneath the video. I normally don't read the user comments on youtube, but the main comment on the screen is hard to miss, and when I read it, it just reminded me of why I don't read any Youtube comments in the first place. Fucking horrible cunts.

  14. Yeah mate, the Chavez documentary is really good. It's really well done and is as good as most boxing documentaries available, and if I'm not mistaken, Tyson gives another one of his trademark Don King tirades. They're mates now though.

  15. Do any of you guys know where to get some good boxing compilations. I dont mean those career sets, im after comps with various quality fights. Proving somewhat difficult which I find hard to believe given theres plenty of match of the year comps for wrestling and i've seen afew for MMA also

He should have something of interest to you, and you won't have to spend much either.

On the subject of DVD's, boxing as a whole is seriously, seriously lagging behind any combat sport, and I don't want to go down the MMA vs Boxing route (Please!) , but considering how much money that the likes of Clearvision and whoever else must be turning over on the UFC DVDs, and their turnaround is lightning quick.

Beginning with Hatton Vs Mayweather, there was a steady flow of DVD releases of the bigger fights around that time such as Hopkins Vs Calzaghe, and Calzaghe vs Jones, which sold quite well, particularly Hatton Vs Mayweather. What I'm getting at, is that you can't go and buy particular fights and their undercards in the way you can with UFC, I know that i partially down to the fact that UFC events are promoted as a whole event rather than one big fight and a shit undercard which is the way boxing shows are. That aside, I think that there is something seriously wrong, when you consider the following ; if you want to go and buy a particular fight from the past on DVD, then you HAVE to go to someone who sells pirated DVD's, because proper releases don't exist.

Another example, is regarding the following recent commercially released Box sets

Muhammad Ali : Greatest of all time 6-disc set

Tyson = The Rise of Iron Mike

These are BY FAR, the two best and most comprehensive commercially available boxing DVD sets ever released. As you all will have noticed for years, the home video output by the sport of boxing as a whole, whether it be VHS or DVD, has always consisted of the same format, but with different fighters each time out. All we have been offered for years, are typically just a 45 minute run down of their career to date, and one or two full fights on the end, using Tyson as an example, you can bet your ass that they will be Tyson Vs Spinks, Vs Berbick, or Bruno. This is why I not only don't buy things from commercial outlets, but I don't even look to see if they have anything more comprehensive, as I know there won't be anything but the same stuff re-mixed and re-released.

The two DVD sets above were quite a rare treat. The Ali set includes 10 fights that are not against the usual names like Liston, Frazier or Foreman. Altogether there are 14 fights on it, and every fight has pre and post-fight extensive footage, and there are some Amateur scraps on it. The set also included the great film "When We Were Kings", a must watch. The packaging is splendid, and price wise, a fair price is something around

  16. I keep hearing people mention "CharmCityShoots", from what I understand, he uploads lots of different shoot interviews, but he uploads them under different names like the Ole Anderson shoot was apparently under "Grumpy old man", then he took it down. So I'm just wondering if there's any sort of link to his channel or somehow you can find what he has on there, as I've searched for ages and can't find shit. I understand the skullduggery though....

  17. The Mayweather Ortiz fight is being offered to Primetime before Sky, so if they take the offer - which i imagine they will the fight will be PPV. In Boxing Monthly last month it had an interview with the bloke who runs Primetime and for them to make a profit on a fight being shown on PPV it did not have to achieve a massive number of buys, i cant remember the figure of the top of my head.

It also says SKY are reducing the number of PPV boxing it offers after the last 2 Haye fights have been less than pleasing and also with the Khan situation before the Mccloskey fight. This has to be a good thing with Warren, Hearn and Hatton all tied in with SKY. The only downside i guess is maybe more of the Golden Boy Promotions fights will be on Primetime PPV instead of Sky Sports.

This goes back to what I said a few pages ago regarding Golden Boy Promotions boycotting Sky with all of their fighters after the situation with Amir Khan. Mayweather Vs Ortiz is a good fight, but the fact remains that the PPV boxing shows offered in the UK has always invloved a British fighter. The Sky Box Office shows have always been either ; a British fighter's first American venture, a British fighter going in with a top American or other big name, or two British boxing stars fighting eachother. There has been a few exceptions like De La Hoya Vs Mayweather, De La Hoya Vs Pacquiao (but even then, Khan fought on the main event of the British end of the dual location telecast, his first fight under Roach), but generally, the formula follows the same outline, and the fights offered of PPV which did not include a British name, have in general, done a modest buy rate, and that was with Sky's promotional machine and multi-channel advertising capabilities.

Mayweather V Ortiz is a very good fight, but I don't see it doing as well as they will hope for, and I know they only need a half decent buy rate to turn a profit, but I hope they do. I hope that if PrimeTime are putting it on PPV, then I hope they do not ask for the
