  1. Not so much the goal itself this one but the goal that took Cagliari  - and Claudio Ranieri - back to Serie A in the 94th minute in their playoff second leg against Bari this evening. There's a weird hatred between Sassari in the North and Cagliari in the South but as a foreigner in Sardinia without any dog in the fight, I enjoy seeing the island represented in Italy's top flight. Bari were going up before this goal, with only 2 minutes of stoppage time to play.

Come on, even you must be mildly interested to see what he could actually do in a league where the gap between his club and most others isn't borderline "Football Manager with the money cheat switched on" level.

Plus, he must be at least curious as to how he'd fare against the top managers in the game. If he has any ambition, that is.

If I was an outsider watching a similar situation involving the manager of say Dinamo Zagreb or HJK Helsinki then yes, absolutely. However, as a Celtic man, Ange brings us success, seems a terrific man and brings an outstandingly entertaining brand of football, and so because of that personal connection, I want him at Celtic Park forever.

It's inevitable he will go eventually though. As you say, he's a man of high ambitions and clearly very very good at this football managing game so it's only a matter of time until a team with financially more to offer comes calling.

  3. Dortmund fans at half time were like:

But yeah it was mad. Turned over for the second half after the Celtic celebrations and it's quite remarkable they managed to bottle it. Mainz had lost their last 4 and had nothing to play for. Dortmund had won their last 11 at home. As we say North of Hadrian's Wall, they Hibsed it.

A bit of an unusual one but it's this for me - the New Age Outlaws' entrance at Royal Rumble 2000. Leading to a pretty forgettable match against The Acolytes, Royal Rumble 2000 was one of the first wrestling video tapes I owned and this entrance in particular has always stuck with me. I remember watching this bit over and over again. It's just so unbelievably cool and encapuslates everything that drew me in to pro wrestling as a wee man.  The music, the entire crowd singing along, that D.O.Double G commanding the arena on the mic, the swearing, then the whole "Ladies and gentlemen" spiel - again with the entire audience shouting along - ending with a colossal "Suck It!". That minute and a half is wrestling perfection to me and sums up why it was so great. I'll often today still watch this clip and it never fails to make me smile.

  5.  Napoli last night was something else. There were even a few fireworks over here (and I'm sure the guy who owns the gun shop down the street was actually firing a gun in the air at one point). Quite incredible to think that for a team with the reputation of Napoli, this is the first title they've won in my lifetime and I'm 32.

  6. Nah Alexios is sound. Really enjoyed the section with Phoebe especially. In an RPG I'll always choose to play as a man because I can relate to him more. Of course, I saw Kassandra in the role of the antagonist but at no point did I think I was missing out having not chosen her.

  7. Finally, finally it's done. 165 hours later. 165 hours! Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Platinum and 100% in all DLCs. Copied and pasted my review from elsewhere with more in-depth thoughts.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is such a frustrating game. It's absolutely gorgeous of that there is no doubt and if you have any interest in Ancient Greek history at all you will no doubt enjoy it. Indeed, I enjoyed the historical aspect of it so much I've even bought the real life Herodotus' great work "The Histories" to find out more. The world is simply vast and full of real life places. Even the geography is an accurate representation of Greece. The game is at its best when you're up high looking at the magnificence of the landscape around you. Combat is simple but fun but I found that enemies detect you quite easily when you're trying to be stealthy. The main story is pretty good but does drag on quite a bit (like the rest of the game). The random stuff with the modern day woman - I had absolutely no idea what that was about at all. The further things spiralled away from the main story of Alexios, the more convuluted things got and subsequently the less interested I became.

However for all the magnitude of Odyssey's scale, the world feels weirdly empty. There's very little that makes the places you visit seem alive. Every area also has so many things to do and locations to clear. This is why the 100% took me such an ungodly amount of time, because I felt compelled to clear everything before moving on - and please note this is NOT mandatory to do for the Platinum. As a result, I soon got bored because the literally hundreds of locations spread across the map are all pretty much identical. This was a problem for the main game as a whole - all the different regions you visit more or less look the same. I enjoyed the first DLC Legacy of the First Blade and the Atlantis one had some interesting ideas but at that point I was sort of desperate for it to be over so I could play something else.

If I could describe Assassin's Creed Odyssey in one single word it would be slog. The whole game, as beautiful as it might be aesthetically tends to feel like a constant trudge up a mountain. Nice enough when you look around but really you can't wait to reach the summit. Fully completing it is definitely one of my longest feats in gaming so far. Overall I enjoyed Odyssey but put it this way: it's going to be a long fucking time before I go near Valhalla. Odyssey....aptly named actually because that is precisely what playing the game to 100% felt like.

  8. So the Scottish Cup final has now been moved from its traditional 3PM kickoff time after a Viaplay request to avoid it clashing with the English FA Cup final at the same time. While the new time of 17.30 works fine for me from a selfish point of view (Saturday evening, perfect for going to go the pub after the game) the concept of us having to change the time of our big game because it clashes with a game in another country is an absolute riddy. The last train to Inverness that day is apparently at 19.37 which makes it even more shambolic. Celtic now coming out that they weren't even consulted with the change.

As completely wrong the move is in principal, at least they didn't change it to 12.30. That is and always will be an absolute shite kickoff time.

Giovanni Lombardo Radice, who was a horror film regular in the 70's and 80's has sadly passed away aged 68. I'll always remember him as the bad guy in Cannibal Ferox. He was also good in House on the Edge of the Park and Cannibal Apocalypse. RIP.

That is a shame. Cannibal Ferox is one of my favourite films ever, although I prefer the alternative title Make Them Die Slowly. He was also in City of the Living Dead which is another of my favourite films. A sad one if you love Italian horror.

I decided to have a go at this cheat code. Added in Celtic, Rangers, PSG and Munich. Was full of confidence. Celtic, Rangers and Benfica had all won… then it went to shit. Just my luck.

Almost a month old reply here, but until this season, Olympiacos were smashing for this too. Always generous odds especially in their away games, although they're having a poor time of it this year.
