The couple of scenes with Banner and Stark in particular were so well acted they only emphasised the clunkiness of some of the other bits.
Â
Yeah, Ruffalo was especially good - we all know that Downey Jr. can do showy in his sleep, but Ruffalo really put his character over.

I've fallen foul of both the lack of workplace experience and the presumption of future desertion due to possession of a degree. The degree thing's particularly annoying, because my degree is in Writing Contemporary Fiction, and as such, relies on me fucking off and writing a novel if I'm to ever make a living off it. So I can't get a job because presumably I could just go away and magically create one for myself.
Â
I can see, from the perspective of the business, why such an approach is taken, but it's not half annoying when I know how incredibly unlikely it is that a super-awesome job in my *field* will open up.
Â
Can you get some sort of writer-in-residence job? I was at a graduation in the week, and this girl had graduated with a similar degree, and was getting a job as writer-in-residence at a prison.
-
Not always the case though. The kid who sells me my ham and cheese croissant at Pret on my way to work graduated from Cambridge last year.
Â
Also, Loki, *cough*nerd*cough*.

Rich, successful nerd, Chest. Rich successful nerd.

I had a right shit time when I got out of university, trying to parlay my English degree into any sort of career job in Nottingham. Turned down by so many shitarse places, being told by them that I was over-qualified, and under-experienced. It was all about getting internships/work experience - after I had some of that under my belt, I was off. Shows that you're willing to wade through miles of shite to get a good job - moving to the smoke was the other key. There's shit all in the provinces.

Regarding the invasion, what about TEMPORAILY turning Austin heel getting him back as Stunning Steve, Jericho as Lioneheart and maybe a couple others, Farooq as Ron Simmons, Big Show as The Giant, etc. evening up the odds and telling a story that made WCW important? Once WCW had been acquired, as a brand, it would have made sense to make it look as important as possible. Obviously you would still have all the real WCW guys, but it would have helped immensely IMO.
Â
That's either a satirical masterwork, or you've been at the bath salts.

Jim Cornette's DVD o booking the Invasion was pretty shit. It can be interesting listening to him, but his ideas were wank.
Â
To be fair, that's because his ideas tend towards the wank end of the spectrum constantly.

I thought American Gangster was pretty good.
Â
Nail, right on the head. It's pretty good.

Yeah, we need a seperate forum for MMA, that much goes without saying, especially considering the fact that MMA is only going to get more popular, especially among wrestling fans, as time passes.
Â
It doesn't actually go without saying, though.

The bit with the marines begging for death is in Alan Dean Foster's Aliens novelization, which I wish I still had.

The ghostface from Scream? Pumpkinhead?

The thing about Girl Next Door that messed with me is how much like a TV movie it seemed. Like a movie of the week, with real nasty evil scenes.

Avengers is right up there, but I think it adds something to it if you have seen the films leading into it, so its a diffcult one to answer. If you aren't too bothered then my top 5 recommendations of 'stand alone' films in no particular order would be:
Â
Dark Knight
Avengers
Iron Man 2
X Men First Class
X-Men 3 (last stand?)
Â
Good list, except that X-Men 3 is horrible.

Human Centipede I - Fuck awful. Worse than expected.

As it happens, I don't need to pay tax, get licenses, and all that rubbish everyone else is roped into doing.
Â
You'd better not use plumbing, pavements or the light from street lamps, then.
Â
They should move to Jaywick. There are none of those things there.
-
They could've had it, for me: better than letting it all go to waste. I was only a shelf filler, though, and the boss had some locks put on the bins
-
Yeah, we had some of them used to turn up around the back of the supermarket I worked at, asking permission to take the old bread and fruit.

All that education, down the Duane.

The Battleship thing was amusing - I went to see Cabin in the Woods last week, and there was a massive line for Battleship. However, The Avengers is so ingrained as the movie to see that everyone that wasn't in the line assumed they were going to see the bigger hit. Then, I discovered that two or three people in the line thought that too.

Once read a sub-editor resume that spelled the job title "sub-eidtor".
