Its all personal taste. I'm more than happy to see them bring back Don West and no doubt some other free agents who used to work for Impact will make appearances at the show, but highlighting some of the WWE's current top names isn't something I would do.

In fairness though, they've done a cracking job of putting over this PPV as actually meaning something. For years, the company has felt it was plodding along from week to week with nothing to build upto.

If it was me, i'd cut out the Hogan, Nash, RVD's types and just focus on the guys that were around during the early Jarrett days.

I agree on the build, similar build to the Wrestle Kingdom show that was done by GFW. It's a million miles away from last years build, where the COO admitted on Facebook they didn't have the money for the show.

I agree wholeheartedly. I could just about live with them being all over the video package when Impact was rebooted, but they've gone now and there's no need to hark back to them.

Not sure how one minute of highlighting the talent they had show up, help produce or the big moments in the company's history of a near 4 minute video is "harking". They always celebrate the past at Slammi.

I agree, they have done a very solid job on this. The main event has a big fight feel, 2 legit fighters, whilst in the main I can't really stand Del Rio he's been passable for me so far on impact.

The other main matches, EC3 has been great lately, and Storm seems somewhat motivated. They have some fun stuff on also, JB/Parks vs Steiner/Josh will be something to see, they have got the NFL player teaming with Moose, the mixed tag with Davey and Eddie and the wives.

Also, one I'm looking forward to, 2 out of 3 falls Low Ki vs Dutt for the X-Div title, a simple one on one match, no 6 or 8 man cluster. I'm pulling for them to do well with this show.

Yeah i'm looking forward to the main event too, personally I wouldn't have had the "managers" but that's the route they've decided to go.

Like you said there's a lot going on with this card, in every division. Here's hoping it works inside the ring. The video packages they've done for the buildup has been excellent. This is the first Jarrett/Anthem PPV, it needs to work.

The negative noise surrounding the company (pay, TV problems, morale, court dates etc) has died down too. The in-ring product needs to improve heading towards Bound for Glory.

  4. Here's the Steiner conference call recap.

It's wonderful (although not sure iMPACT who are trying to rebrand and bring in a new energy should be having him do it) http://www.pwtorch.com/site/2017/06/28/scott-steiner-call-recap-comments-tna-slammiversary-wwe-mcmahons/

    Quote

“The WWE Hall of Fame only exists in the minds of people up there, it’s a joke.”

Steiner then asked where the statues are? Where’s the statue of Ric Flair or Mach Man? He then added, “The statue of the Macho Man will never leave Stephanie’s bedroom.”

what kind of buyrate do you expect?

and is it on Spike over here?

    Yeah Monday at 9.

As for the buyrate I haven't a clue, be nice if this time next week they are happy with it & gives them confidence that the changes being made are working.

If it was me I'd be looking for anyway to promote why the show was a success and thank those for buying.

But sadly this is the internet and negatively will take over.

Global Force has officially been bought (yeah right) by Anthem. Hard to believe it was almost two years ago that I went to what felt like an empty arena GFW show in Las Vegas, having been such buzz after their first well attended taping.

Would not surprise me if Bound for Glory is held in Vegas this year.

Be nice if they released the shows.

  7. Well, that was dreadful stuff with the odd decent stuff thrown in.

Thought the main event was okay, X-Division good action but the rest was just not at the level for a company who are trying to reconnect with the millions of fans that have walked away.

Why does Hornswoggle (why is he in the company?) have more fire and aggression than James Storm who one week ago had a World Title match and got screwed over? Why did KM (not sure if that's his name) just appear in a random angle which involved no other iMPACT talent? Why is the Grand Title still around?

They should apologise for what they just put out on TV.

  8. PWInsider have more on the story.

Basically Karen and Jeff not happy with Bob Ryder over some hotel bookings, there was an arguement & it looked like Bob had been fired/quit.

He hasn't and it's been sorted. He's still with the company, but his health isn't good again (he had cancer a few years back).

The original tweets once again underline how the wrestling industry will jump on ANYTHING to criticise the company.

To be fair, they are under new owners these days. Might open the door to appearances by others who hated the Dixie regime. Cornette is pally with Double J isn't he?

True. Here's hoping it leads to others down the road.

Sadly though this highlights a big problem they have the long TV taping weekends hold them back from gathering week to week interest in the product. Here's hoping that's something they are looking into.

Enjoyed the show, bit baffled at spud being a ring announcer though!

I also noticed, that within a short period of time, 3 different Impact roster members (James Storm, ODB and Laurel V.N) each came down to the ring with a gimmicked bottle of some sort of alcoholic beverage, i think thats a bit much!

Going by the tapings, Spud is no more.

I really enjoyed the X-Division main event, but Andrew Everett is a maniac. Not sure he's ever taken a safe bump. Fucking Sonjay Dutt - at least he got clobbered. Xavier looks good. Not gonna lie, always been a Low Ki fan so I'm open to a short run.

I thought we were getting LAX Vs Reno Scum but they obviously decided to keep the champs strong by having them squash someone instead. The jobber matches were not unwelcome. Kongo Kong is a good laugh.

Please, God, let that be the end of ODB. Brooke should be back on these tapings, or Santana Garrett.

Reno Scum were pulled off the show as one of them has a shoulder injury and out of action for a month.

Agree on ODB, she's a waste of time  and hopefully only around short term.
