So it's been announced that El Patron has been suspended indefinitely by GFW but they'll continue to show the footage they recorded last week for the future shows. Wouldn't surprise me if he's back for the next set of the tapings and they have him drop the belt.

They've handled this the best they could really, miles better than the Dixie/Jeff Hardy/Victory Road shambles.

Not at the same level. Sadly the network has made plenty of mistakes so they've not had the chance to build any real momentum with them.

Also there's alternative ways to watch the product now. Total Access App, and Five on Demand

Really enjoyed the show. What it does show is they need to set up camp elsewhere. Whether they were 'cast' members or plants or not, the India crowd have shown up what a wet bunch the Impact Zone crowd are. Particularly irritating are those trio of people facing the camera slightly to the left who at each show are openly engaging in full blown conversations, turning from the match or doing everything they can to show they aren't intetested in something. It's particularly noticeable during the X Division match. What are they even doing there?

What the event also proved was how much Jeremy Borash should be credited for (certainly the production aspect of) the Broken Universe set-pieces and mini films. I can't believe how much of a kick I got from that tag match. Having the crowd mic'd up was a good idea as well.

I think they could improve the crowd by not having them line up for hours before getting in the arena. They were hot until they were knackered for the last hour.

Overall a really fun show, absolutely loved that Steiner match though. Broken Steiner anyone? Ha

The commentary was fantastic. Best wrestling announcing I've heard in ages. The ESPN guy was well keyed up and Don West was Don West (i.e. amazing as ever). Strange hearing an announce team that comes across as likable and not obnoxious in any way. Shame its going back to Pope, Josh and JB again. Even if the ESPN bloke cant do wrestling for more than a one off, JB and Don would be great. And Josh Matthews could be a manager or something. The crowd as a bit dead as the night went on. That seems to be the case with the Impact Zone sadly. It would be cool if they moved to Vegas, like Jarrett wanted to do with GFW originally. The show just needs a new vibe to it. A different look and a new location would make the show feel much better.

As for the show, wasnt to much on the show to complain about. Thought most of the matches were good. Best things on the show were D'Angelo Williams who blew away any first timer ever. He was incredible. Someone needs to sign him up to a big contract, cause he looks a future star. And of coruse the match of the year, Steiner and Josh vs JB and Joe Park. Just hilarious. Scott Steiner and Josh were like the Wet Bandits from Home Alone.

I want to back up everything you said about Matthews/Steiner vs Park/JB. Fantastic fun!

It was pretty good, it felt like Don West toned things down a little. Which is a pity because I was looking forward to him claiming wrestlers must have been killed via x movie and y move. What I liked about Don was that he made it feel TNA/Impact and not a lighter shade of Smackdown.

Hopefully the green will replace the blue in Impact and the whole company can get away from the Thunder/Smackdown feel.

The commentary was one of my biggest concerns going into the show, just didnt know what to expect from both guys. Have always loved Don for his enthusiasm to the product.

Yeah with the new belts on the way, hopefully they stick with the green.

    I loved the Parks/JB vs Steiner/Matthews match.

It was a lot of fun, in comparison to the dull wolves match which I found was a bit like watching a really boring war. There's something about Richards and Edwards that constantly fails to excite me. It was a decent PPV, haven't watched Impact in a long time and I'm not sure if this PPV is a huge incentive to dip back in but I'd say watch anyway.

Oh the main event left me feeling deflated.

    How was the commentary?

    I've seen it 🙈

It appears to be for the post-Slammiversary Impact, but it seems it's been accidentally transposed to the description of Slammiversary.

That or the TVGuide has simply published what the company has given them by way of preview for this coming week. Whatever the name of the company, they can't catch a break, whether it's their own doing or not.

DONT look at the week after.

    Also backstage note:

New titles have been ordered. Hope we don't lose the green

You know, the Voices of Wrestling podcast did a tally of Impact's ratings history and the worst period in the companies history (on TV, not weekly PPVs) for eye balls was the first quarter of 2017 pre-Anthem take over. Its funny that even though the Hardy gimmick was the most hype they've had in years, it was on its arse at the end of the run. Viewership is back up now, but it's interesting that for all the praise it probably ended at the right time.

Yeah I mentioned that elsewhere. The Hardys stuff was cool but did nothing for the company long term. Also backs up why Anthem were right to not re-sign the talent that left, many of who had very good contracts.

Sadly not what people want to hear but it's the truth. Although the UK ratings aren't great (but they've had problems, and the shows are available on demand), and this weeks Pop rating was a stinker.

after Slammiversary doesn't Impact's format change going forward? i remember reading that when Jarrett took over they were going to keep things ticking over and tweak things until Slaminversary, then really bring in the changes post-show.

According to his interview on SI. Probably next year, they're making some changes but next year will be year one of the 5 year plan.

  10. Interested to see the direction of how they broadcast moving forward.

Going off Jeff's comments regarding on Demand, they look to be heading in the WWE Network direction which is the right way to go and perhaps these partnerships would add more international content? Don't forget who the owners are and what they're background is.

Get (lets say) 100k people to sign up at $5 a month (what the price is in the UK now) and they could be onto something.
