  1. Watched that event a few days back, too. Cant believe you didnt do a screen grab of Tremonts gaping leg gash from the final. Was disgusting. They missed a huge trick by not having Masada work over that gash. He did so for like 30 seconds, but then stopped. Masada beating the shit out of Tremonts leg would have been great. Even still, it was a very good final (despite the weak looking final bump). Tremont sells a beatdown so well that the fans were right behind him during the match. As you said, the shot of Tremont rolling around in his own blood on the floor (after that nasty bump) was great.

Thought the commentators were crap, and not just because most of the time they couldnt actually see what was happening. Also, the noise the thumbtack bat made when Masada whacked it into Boodrows head for the second time is something any deathmatch fan needs to hear. Disgusting.

  2. Compliance

A film about that story of when some guy phoned a fast food place pretending to be a cop, and got the boss to strip search an employee, amoungst other things. Im fighting the urge to read up more on the true story, as I get annoyed easily by stupid people. Assuming that the events in the film all did happen, then its completley crazy as to how stupid people can be, and how much they can be manipulated. As for the film, it was a decent, but I feel it would have been just as good, if not better, if it were just a 60 minute documentary, using a normal voice-over with some reconstructions. The problem was, all throughout the movie, I was just constantly thinking "How can you be so stupid", which somewhat ruins it.

One positive was the director making an effort to highlight how stupid all involved were. Firstly, by throwing in the cop's "What the hell did they put in that chucken to make them all lose their fucking minds", and also highlighting how short a distance the police station was away.

A couple of general points about the film:

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

    - They sort of glossed over what surely should have been the most interesting part, ie, convincing the girl to suck off the boss' husband. By that point, I can sort of understand the girl being in complete shock, but what the fuck was the man thinking?

    - Seems like the man scared them about doing HARD TIME about the girls crime. Dont understand how a first time offence of stealing 20 or 30 bucks made them all think she would do 5 years.

  3. I watched the first 20-odd minutes of that recently, and was undecided about it. He seems an interesting guy with some interesting stories (ie, having Hogan sleep over the night before Bash 96, etc), but from the little bits of the actual timeline he has discussed, hes almost Politician like in his answers (ie, nothing was his fault). Will watch more of it soon, though.

On the other hand, Ive just watched about half of KC's "Worst wrestling angles of all time". Its easily the worst "shoot" style interview I have ever seen. Shown in a "I Love 1991" sort of format, it features an awful collection of wrestlers/divas/Apter doing talking heads over bad angles. For 50% of the time, its clear that the people involved dont even know what the hell they are talking about, and have never even seen the incident they are talking about.

Ever wanted to hear Barry Darsow's opinion on Steph becoming ECW owner? Ever wanted to hear a pilled up Billy Gunn completley misunderstand The Finger Poke of Doom angle ("Nash is jacked and a legit 7 foot, and he went down to a finger poke!?")?. What about 10 solid minutes talking about Mae Young giving birth to a hand ("It was shit" x 15 different people)? Thankfully I didnt pay for it.

  4. Just finished watching CZW: Tournament of Death Europe 2012. Thought it was pretty forgetable, and nothing worth really seeing. Even the final was pretty average. Four-way matches dont really lend themselves to being great deathmatches. One of the highlights was one of the wrestlers (think it was Younger) telling his opponent to "stop being so heavy", and then proceeded to really lay some stiff on him toward the end.

Tremont is now someone who I will track down to watch, as he seems great in every match Ive watched of him. Reminds me of when a Necro match from IWA or BJPW would show up online, and Id make the effort to watch it. Has Tremont in BJPW happened yet?

  5. That tip reminds me of when someone on another forum tipped up Klassen to win it at 150/1. Gutted that I didnt put anything on that. Theres some small money at 33/1 and 31/1 available on Wilson on Betfair. Just chucked

  6. The first episode of Africa on BBC1 was superb. Every single minute there's something jaw dropping on the screen. I challange anyone to watch the first ten minutes (which feature a bird conning some meerkats, some armoured canibal insects, and all of it shot, edited and narrated pretty much perfectly) and then think that watching the rest is a bad idea.

Considering the range of stuff Attenborough has narrated, surely Africa is pretty much the last thing he can cover.

  7. MVG, even though he was averaging over 100, just wasnt power scoring like he has been. Taylor, as much as a cunt as he is, really turned it on for the final, and definately peaked at the right time. He has the bottle, in the same way Wade and Lewis does, in that he always seems to hit the finishes at the critical times. Thats why he won something like 4 sets 3-2. MVG could have been 4-0 up. Shame.

I can also let Wade off for no selling the 9 darter. Hes done it before when Taylor hit two in one game. Absolutley right to do so when in the middle of the game. He ended up winning that set, too, so its fair enough.

  8. Can anyone give me pointers as to which of these title matches are worth watching, and maybe which ones are stinkers. My perception of the heavyweight title matches from this time are not good, but are there are belters amounst this lot?

Edit: Also, there was a post by someone talking about the best seasons of The Ultimate Fighter recently, but cant seem to find it. What are the best seasons to check out?

  9. I think Barney and Anderson are likable, Barney gets cheered everywhere a bit like Wayne Mardle used to. Anderson does get shit, but he did get voted most popular player a while back. I agree Whitlock is likable, as is MVG.

Anderson is one of my favourates to watch, but likeable when watching them play is different from being a likeable person. Barney, for example, is great to watch recently, but his interviews make him seem like a bellend (in my opinion).

Wade is a tough one, knowing his battle with depression you would think he would get more sympathy. Maybe people just think his too bland a player and looks a bit too much like a nerd.

He referred to himself in the third person a few years back, which made me sour on him from then on. He always comes across as a tit during interviews, too.

As for the final, I think all of Barney's talk about being back to his best will end tonight. Taylor to confortably beat him. Wade is very similar to Lewis, in that they always seem to hit the big outs when they really count. Wade's bottle isnt in question. If MVG has a bad night of scoring, then Wade will beat him.

  10. Dredd - Was good, but after remembering how much some people were raving about it on here, I didnt think it was THAT good. Very formulaic, with loads of the action movie cliches fulfilled, but still good fun. Its appearing in all those 'Top 10 Flops of 2012' lists that are floating about, which is a shame, as this was a very good platform to make an even bigger/better film in the future.

  11. Most of the tops darts players come across as wankers, though. Taylor, Wade, Lewis, King, the list goes on. Even people like Anderson and Barney are not exactly very likeable. Whitlock seems to be the nicest of the lot. He gave a classy interview after getting hammered by Barney.

MVG/Lewis was class. MVG's scoring was out of this world. 100+ average with all those missed darts is insane. I cant stand Lewis, so his reaction to MVG winning the leg where he had darts to win the match, plus at the end of the match, was great.

  12. Just stumbled across a completley batshit hardcore match between Big Show and Flair from ECW. Show takes 4 unprotected chairshots to the head, juices, and goes into tacks, among other things. I assume ECW was doing terrible numbers around this time, which is what makes it so crazy.

Just got me thinking about how much Big Show regrets this ECW run. I wasnt a huge follower of it at the time, but I remember Show having loads of crazy matches and taking loads of chairshots/bumps, which must have knocked some time off his career, and all for such a tiny amount of viewers. Toward the end of this run, he looked absolutley awful.

  13. What's the difference between this SA and the one that has been on Xbox Live Arcade for years? Isnt the Xbox one a straight port, too? Cant remember how much I paid for it, but I dont think it was that much. Have to disagree with PunkStep, too, as I think its aged very badly. Played it last year, and was shocked at how dated it feels. Still great, though.

  14. As metnioned by others, the Nash 95 Timeline is great. After watching it, I thought how great a Nash 97 or 98 WCW timeline would be. Hopefully that is something we will see in the future. WCW seems to have been neglected for these timelines, so theres loads of potential ones there (a Lance Storm 2000 one, just off the top of my head, sounds pretty interesting).

The Val Venis one, on the other hand, is crap.

Is the Cornette 97 timeline worth checking out? Seems almost impossible that it could be bad.

Also have the Bella's and Torrie Wilson shoots downloaded. My expectations are not high.

  15. Anyone watched Last Resort from the US? Its 4 episodes in, and seems to be getting some of the more favourable reviews for new shows. I plan on checking it out soon.

Also, after reading about it on this forum, I watched Big Ron Manager, which was excellent. "You couldnt have scripted it any better" is a cliche, but completley applies to this show. The episode where the manager quits an hour before the game was outstanding. Reading up on a few of the characters on Wikipedia, and it shows that the gaffer had no success after this job. Not really suprising. St Ledger seems to have done OK for himself, but (unsuprisingly) got into trouble at Leicester for his attitude last year.

  16. Having never seen it before, yestreday I watched Face/Off, and thought it was brilliant. Completley over the top, with shit loads of action and stunts, with the story kept to a minimum. Great action film. Travolta piloting the chopper within the first 15 minutes of the film sets the tone for the whole film.

Also watched Casino Royale for the first time, and thought it was pretty good. Not as good as Face/Off, mind. The last part of the film let it down badly, I thought.

  17. I only watched the first season of Walking Dead. I found it started well but got worse as the season went on. Does it get any better?

Lots of people rag on The Walking Dead. From memory, the first few episodes of S2 are very poor. After those initial few shit episodes, it becomes a decent-to-good (with occasional great) show.

Speaking of post-apocalypse, Revolution seems to be a new show which fits this bill. JJ Abrams is attached to it, and its been getting average reviews. Hopefully it will improve.

  18. The Mindy Project ('Created by Mindy Kaling' in the opening title, 'Mindy Kaling' as first actor credit, 'Executive Producer: Mindy Kaling' credit, 'Written By Mindy Kaling' credit, and 'Kaling International, Inc' credtied at the end) had a decent first episode. As suggested from all the credits, the episode featured purely on Mindy (also the characters name). She was very good, and the character seems good enough to be the focus of the show. If this is going to be a traditional 20+ episodes per season sort of show, then it cant feature so heavily on just one character in future episodes, as it will get stale quickly.

Cant make a big judgement on the supporting characters, as the episode was 90% Mindy, but from the tiny bits we saw of them, they seem a bit too bland to be good enough supporting characters. You get the feeling that 99% of the writing process was focussed on Mindy, and about 2 hours was spent on all the other characters combined. Hopefully they flesh them out into some good characters in the next few episodes.

  19. LOTR #3 - Finished off the trilogy, and was as disappointed with this one as I was with the others. All of them are decent action films, but nothing more than that. I watched the versions that were on C4 a few months back, but I think I should have watched the extended ones first, as they (from what Ive read) flesh out some characters, and expland on some of the story better. I havent read the book, so I assume that people who have enjoy the movies much more.

The Girl with the Dargon Tattoo - Thought it was really good. At 160 minutes long, it didnt drag at all. The main actress was fantastic, with Daniel Craig doing a decent job, too.

I have Red Lights downloaded. Judging from Megacritic, most critics didnt seem to favour it, but the description of it was enough for me to grab it.

  20. Watched the new episodes of Parks and Rec and The Office. Quite depressing to see the difference in quality between Parks and The Office now. The new episode of Parks was fantastic. Loads of gags, loads of great characters, and they weave in an interesting story on top.

On the other hand, its quite depressing to see The Office these days. Not that its bad by any means, its just become very dull, lifeless, lost all of its charm, and just clearly a show that has run its course. There isnt a great character left in the show. The genius of Andy has been completley wiped away, and the character now is probably 1/5th as good as it used to be. Pam, Jim and Dwight have all become tired as charcters. Without Ryan and Kelly, youre left with a pretty dire list of supporting characters (does anyone still find a Kevin or Erin funny? I dont). Toby is comfortably my favourate character on the show now, and hopefully he gets a bigger role in future episodes. The episode itself was very average, with not many laughs. That said, half the time in the episode they are not even going for laughs, focusing more on the storylines (the Jim and Oscar stuff were not even attempting humour).

  21. Just started to watch Storage Wars. From Wikipedia, the storage lockers they buy are when a person doesnt pay 3 months worth of rent. Thing is, in the episode I just watched, there was a painting with $1800 of cash taped to the back. Obviously the person would have just gone to their locker and got the money to pay the rent, so is this just a case of the person dying, and no-one else in their family knowing about the locker? Thought that was the obvious answer, but surely the relatives would be entitled to the contents.

edit: Just to add that I think Parks and Rec is a very good show. Not as great as peak Office seasons, but certainly very consistently good. For the last few seasons, Ive always watched the new Parks and Rec episode before The Office. Loads of great characters, and not a bad one out of the lot.

  22. Have The Lord of the Ring films aged badly? I know its only roughly 10 years since they come out, but Ive just watched the first two for the first time, and was very underwhelmed by them. Not just the story, but the actual visual's and CGI are not half as good as I thought they would be. For a blockbuster with tens of millions of dollars as a budget, I was disappointed by how ropey some of it looked. Even the 'epic' final battle at the end of the second film didnt look THAT much better than something from Spartacus (the S2 finale) or Game of Thrones. Stuff like the scenes with the trees looked straight from the 80s.

I usually roughly agree with IMDB on most films, but I shouldnt have looked at the ratings for these films before watching it, as it made me expect outstanding films, which they were not for me. Decent, but nothing more than that. I was thinking that they would be so good, that I would want to immediately watch the next one straight away. Thats not the case though, as it took a few weeks for me to watch the second one after the first, and Im not excited at all about starting with the third one.
