  1. This aint gonna fly with everyone.... but Cesaro would have been a decent shout for the next Heyman guy.

Cesaro vs Punk would have been OK for right now. I'd prefer that a bit more to Punk/Axel that we're getting and anyone else could have been a "Real American".

Plus he's got that indyrific streak that marks him out as a candidate for former ECDub boss, and he aint suffering from these slurs against Axel and Smith.

Who else might have been a better shout? Big E as the big heel before having enough of Heyman for his face turn maybe? Might risk being exposed or something... so maybe not.

  2. I've gone with Bobby Heenan as number for one years and years... just think that during Paul's latest run he has been immense.

Add that to his previous body of work and I think he's now taken the lead.

I still rate Bobby, of course, and he's still number one colour guy by a long way. Only Paul could have him beat right now as manager.

Loved the Dangerous Alliance, his early 00's stuff with Baroque Lesnar, and his recent run as mentioned.

I've not seen any of Bobby with Bockwinkle as that's a bit before my time so maybe I could review my opinion if I saw some of that. His stuff with Perfect, Andre, Haku & Barbarian I love.

His calling of the Rumble '92 makes it the best ever but he weren't a manager there. But fuck it, why not bring it up eh!

Paul maybe makes it as #2 colour guy, dunno. His promo work when needed in ECW was not too shabby either (from the little I've seen).

EDIT - Been re-watching Superstars from 91 lately. Bearer's first few appearances are wierd in the lake of the "ooooh yes" in them... but, shit, I struggle with Brother Love.

  3. That's not how it went is it? He didn't call for the bell otherwise they could have kind of covered it and he'd have just raised Natalyas hand surely? It's that he didn't that made it more off, I thought. I might be remembering it wrong though.

Nope, you are remembering it correctly.

Natalya was stupid in dropping the sharpshooter before a bell rang. You gotta play to the whistle.

  4. Who was the last generic guy to be bought in from developmental?

The last guys to be bought up were, I think, The Wyatt family and, whilst they may be shit, they ain't looking that generic looking?

Cesaro was bought up a while back and may have a boring look (suits his style though) but his wrestling aint generic and he's not a "good looking young dude".

The Shield came up in recent times and have been a success.

Damien Sandow isn't generic looking (although maybe his wrestling is).

I must be missing some people...?

"Cookie Cutters!" is a criticism perfectly valid for the days of La Resistance and the Basham Brothers but right now I think WWE is doing very well talent wise with more to come in Neville and Zayn.

(If they bring Bo "Fuck off" Dallas up you can have that one)

Personally, I doubt Daniel Bryan is a flash in the pan. The company has put in quite some effort to make him (just as Bryan also has) and he's most certainly one of their most over acts... and also definitely not fitting the "generic good looking young lad in tights" criticism.

  5. During Tyler Breeze's in-ring thing with CJ Parker, I turned to my wife and said "In his head, is he doing an impression of Ben Stiller?".

She said she was thinking the same thing.

So following on from what others have said, he's definitely being Zoolander and that's not a bad thing.

    CJ Parker is fucking awful.

Sami Zayn is still the best babyface in the world and Cesaro is amazing.

  6. You just know that Los Matadores are going to be loads of fun, i'm looking forward to them already. It doesn't hurt that Primo's actually pretty great and underutilised either. And they should have Mascarita Dorada with them as Novillerito or something too!

You may have hit on something there! Didn't they sign Dorada a while back?

    They did indeed!

    Damn, I'm all wet now...

  7. After a few of Earthquake's squash matches on WWF Superstars in early 1991 (between Rumble and 'Mania) a masked man would run out and attack Earthquake and then run to the back again.

    - Who the hell was he? He's never named, and who's under the mask?

    - What the hell was it all about? Angle went nowhere.

All I can find is it might have been Brutus Beefcake but nothing definite...

    *EDIT*

... ah, according to Wikipedia's entry for Brutus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brutus_Beefcake):

"For a short time in early 1991, a masked character played by Leslie appeared on TV. The character would run in during matches and attack various heels (notably Rick Martel, Dino Bravo and Earthquake). He would run in on their matches, punch them a few times, throw a headbutt and immediately retreat. He never wrestled a match and was never given an official name."

Given at this time Earthquake was facing Greg Valentine at WM7... what the fuck was this 'angle' all about?!

  8. He worked for RoH more than any other promotion. Over a career spanning almost 14 years, he spent 50% of that time in Ring of Honor.

Although nowhere near 50% of his matches were in Ring of Honor, were they? I think he was full-time for years and RoH weren't a full-time promotion for a long while?? I dunno... I just doubt very much that RoH is a notable contribution to his development.

I also would have thought his time working for All Star was way more beneficial. Working a full-time schedule in front of large crowds where the demo matches the WWE more closely.

    Again, I dunno...

  9. I just came across the "Wrestlers vs Zombies" news too (although come on man, give us a bit more of a clue when posting a YouTube link)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2240046/

    Roddy Piper

    Matt Hardy

    Jim Duggan

    Kurt Angle

    Shane Douglas

    Sylvester 'Bear' Terkay

And others that some of ya may know (coz they billed as "Herself" or "Himself").

Scott Levy plays "Himself", surely not...

Looks like a shit but can't miss kinda thing. Could be Piper's third great movie ;)

  10. . . .

Bo Dallas is shit. Like, really.

Big E Langston looked great. I don't really know the history or meaning of it, but from what I saw I liked the '5 count' gimmick. His is the sort of character WWE lacks. Someone who isn't necessarily good by any normal gauge, but is so cool and hard that people love him anyway. Two thumbs up.

Neville looked okay, too. I'm still not swung on him.

Cesaro is the bollocks. I think he's got one of the greatest looks in the business.

    . . .

100% agree with your opinion of Bo Dallas. He's fucking awful.

Big E is one of my favourite "up-and-comers" right now. Waiting for the day he turns face and smashes shitty Ryback to pieces.

Neville has been one of my favourites for years from seeing him regularly in England. Not seen much of him since he's been in FCW. I have no doubt he'll make it to a main roster.

Since he's been in WWE, Cesaro has become one of my favourites. I wasn't a massive fan of his in his indy days. Love his matches now but seems the crowds don't and now he's being booked into oblivion. There's no money in yodelling. Maybe he'll get to reform a tag team with Hero - they could take titles from Hell No leading to their split (*pure fantasy booking on my part, which culminates with Bryan/Taker*)
