  1. I have just finished watching Reign Over Me starring Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler in a uncommon serious role. The story tells the tale of Alan Johnson (Cheadle), a succesful New York dentist who runs into his college room mate Charlie (Sandler) who he hasn't seen in years. Charlie has lost his wife and 3 daughters in one of the planes used in the 9/11 attacks and has pretty much become an extremely intoverted recluse. Charlie has managed to "forget" everything that has happened in his past and so when he runs into Alan he doesn't recognise him. The film follows Alan's efforts to help Charlie deal with his issues and get some professional help.Although this film doesn't sound like a bunch of laughs I though it was a very powerful and imotive piece of cinema. The two leads were fantastic especially Sandler and it was nice to see him play away from his normal roles. The soundtrack was used as part of the story (they are all songs that Charlie has on vinyl or on his Ipod) and it supplies some cracking tunes, even Bruce Springsteen gets a few tunes in there.I really can't recommend this film enough, I thought it was fantastic.

That film is fantastic, really underrated, and easily Sandler's best role yet. I was welling up near the end during the court case, when Charlie finally breaks down. Such a good film, and the use of music is brilliant.
This is actually the second time I have seen this film and both times there have been 2 scenes that always get to me. It's the initial scence outside the shrinks office where Charlie first talks to Alan about his family (great acting by Sandler, the director uses a lot of lengthy shots just on him and the emotion he portrays is heartbreaking) and the scene where Charlie goes back into the hearing and speaks to his wife's mother and father. That bit where he kisses her on the cheek and then leaves is great as well. One of very few films recently that has made me well up. Awesome flick.

  3. There's a movie coming out called "I want someone to eat cheese with" written, directed & starring Jeff Garlin of Curb Your Enthusiam fame. It looks like the sweetest movie ever and I want to see it more than any big-ass blockbuster coming out this year. Look up the trailer.

Here be the trailer for those interestedIt does look great, and Jeff looks to be his awesome usual self. Plus,it's got Silverman in it! Count me in.
That does look great. Anyone know when it is coming out ?
  4. Time to go old school and I'm talking waaaay back. Heard this in a bar the other day, apparently it has been remixed for 2007. I like the fact that with this track unlike other remixes it doesn't detract too much from the original song structure. Really catchy tune.

  5. I do believe that Chris Benoit has started the beginning of the end of the WWE. This is going to be massive, and although the WWE is legally blameless (you don't see the National Baseball League being blamed for individual's uses of steroids) the sensationalist publicity, as well as the taboo that anabolic steroids have in western culture, could mean that this will cause Vince's Rome to fall.

I have honestly thought about this for the last couple of days. I truely think this could be the biggest shock to the WWE ever and could be something that may not finish the WWE off completely will change it forever.Cue eerie music !
  6. WWE.com have started to remove a lot of the tributes to Benoit. As far as I could see (I may be mistaken) they only have the news report/press release left up.Are they trying to put a bit of distance between them and the incident do we think ?Sad day :-(

  7. I won't remember him for the murdering psychopath bit, I'll remember him for the bloody fantastic wrestler bit.

"Say what you want about Hitler, at least he made the trains run on time " - Any stand up comic circa 1974I was so shocked to see this news this morning. One of my greatest wrestling memories was watching Benoit lift the title live at WMXX.If these rumours turn out to be true then a true legend's status has been tarnished IMHO
  8. Brilliant mate, absolutely brilliant. I never watched WCW during this period and it is hard to believe that some of these things went on. I can now see why Hogan is so widely criticised as a "backstage politician". I can't believe some of the things that they were subjecting their wrestlers to and for apparently having not having planning for storylines longer than a couple of days It is easy to see why they folded !Keep it up mate, I am loving this. :)

  9. Did WCW ever run Madison Square Garden?

Nope.Sorry for the one word post, but that's all that was needed to be said.
I remember them mentioning potentially running MSG in the WCW Magazine in 1991.Nothing came of it like freaky_jason said.
I am sure that back to the days of Jess McMahon (Vince's Grandfather) the McMahon family have exclusive rights to wrestling at MSG. It is often refered to as WWE's home arena and around the time of WM 20 there was a hell of a lot of made of the history between MSG and the McMahon family. The programme for WM20 has a great piece from Vince and gives the timeline of WWWF/WWF/WWE at MSG.So in summary I don't think WCW would have been able to have run at MSG even if they had wanted to.P.S The Garden is amazing, if you are ever in NYC check it out.
  10. Last night I watched the Manchurian Candidate (Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep) on Sky and there was a scene in Times Square NYC where they enter the campain headquarters which is located directly opposite ESPN Sports Zone. If my memory serves me well isn't that the sight of WWE New York. Can anyone confirm for me that it was the old WWE new York building that was used in this scene. Not sure why I need to know but it would be nice if anyone knows if they have seen the film. Also what is this building used for know ? Last time I was in New York (for WM 20) the building was closed down but the billboards were still being used for WWE advertising.

  11. Does anyone know where I can get hold of/download the Freddie Blassie Tribute video that was made when he passed away. It is set to My Immortal by Evanesence and it is truely one of the best tribute videos WWF/E have ever made. I have tried Limewire and You Tube but no joy. Anyone got any ideas where I could find it ???

  12. I remember that during the time that Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans earlier this year it was reported on WWE.com that Heidenreich had not been able to locate his wife and child who lived in the area. The last thing I read was that Heidenreich went to New Orleans himself to help look for them. He has since returned to the WWE after only a very short absence so I am guessing this situation has been resolved. can anyone give me some more details please.Cheers

  13. I know that she is fairly "commercial" but does anyone know what happened to the career of Holly Valance ? Apart from those annoying REVERSE adverts I have not heard a thing from her in years. Just to jog your memory banks:

Also how about a few more additions:

Kelly Ripa from Hope and Faith

    Kelli Williams from Scrubs

    Iben Hjejle from High Fidelity

    Enjoy

  14. Yeah... Kaley Cuoco, Bridget Moynahan, Allison Lohman and Elisha fucking Cuthbert are really unconventional...

The topic of the thread is

    Less commercial or conventional hotties

Although all the ladies I mentioned are conventional beauties I would argue that they aren't particually commercial. None of them has been the main star in a huge movie or TV programme so to the everyday UK Joe they would still be pretty un-commercial. ;)
