Say what you want about old Reg the last few years but back in the the day he couldn't half knock together a cracking tune.

A new series of DIY SOS: Big Build started last night. I love this programme. I know it is the intention but it really tugs on the heartstrings each episode. Last nights was a really emotional episode as they were remodelling a house for a family where the father had been told he had got Motor Neurone Disease and had not long left to live.Heart breaking stuff, hard to watch without shedding a tear for the guy and his family.

I have seen quite a few of the Bond films with the only holes being the ones with Brosnan in and the last Craig one. At a push I would have to say my favorite bond is Connery but Moore is very close. My favourite film of the series is Live and Let Die. Everything about that film is great. Baron Samedi still gives me nightmares to this day !!!The Bond themes over the years have been great bar a few exceptions in the last few years. I will have to agree with Rosegarden when he said that he favourite theme song is "glang, glang a lang a lang a lang a lang a lang, glang a lang" Tried to sing it one at karaoke but it was way too high for me, Would have needed to get me nuts in a vice to get that high !Fun Fat Boy Mendoza related James Bond tenuous link: I have just finished working with Michael Apted the director of the World is Not Enough. Kinda wish I had watched his film now !

Was quite surprised when I really found myself liking Rufus Hound's first stand up show. Don't really rate him in anything else I have seen him in bar Celebrity Juice but I thought he was great in this.
Â
Any one else seen it ? It was on Comedy Central a few times early in the year.

Love a bit of Man V Food Nation. In fact I love most of the shows on the Food Network but especially these:
Â
Meat and Potatoes
Diner's Drive Ins and Dives (Can you guess from my sig)
Man V Food (original and Nation)
Â
The only thing that I don't like about all of these programmes (which are all from the US) is the constant recapping and previewing of what has just happened and what is coming up. There must be at least a quarter of each show that is reserved for just showing us what we have just seen or what we are about to see. It is rather annoying.
Â
On another, non-food related note I am also loving New Girl and Happy Endings at the moment. Great ensemble casts for both shows although I think that Happy Endings just edges it for me. Didn't get into HE straight away but caught a few on TV and then downloaded both series and watched them pretty much back-to-back over the course of a weekend. Love that show. Can't wait for the third series. It also helps that the 3 main females are all quite hot:
Â
Â
Elisha Cuthbert is obviously uber hot but I have a bit of a thing for Casey Wilson who plays Penny (the brunette). Eliza Coupe isn't too bad either.

I love Michael Buffer. Bruce has never been a patch on him as a ring announcer for me. I like Bruce but his shouty voice gets annoying for me after a bit, Michael's got the perfect announcers voice. And "It's Time" is so cack compared to "Let's get ready to rrrrrrrrrrrumbllllllllllllle".
Â
I always used to love Michael Buffer as a ring announcer and I think in his prime there is no-one better but in the last couple of years he seems like he has really just phoned it in. I love the enthusiasm that Bruce Buffer brings he can make the under card of a UFC C-Show sound like the most important fights of all time. He builds up the Main Events so much that the crowds are so hyped up for the fights once he has finished. It is a shame that his catchphrase is nowhere near as good as Michael's.
Â
Bruce>Current day Michael
Â
But
Â
Classic Michael>everyone
Â
-
Who was the ring announcer ? Michael Buffer or Jimmy Lennon Jr ? If it was Buffer did he phone in his performance like has has done for the last few years ? For me Bruce has become the better announcer in that family in the last few years. Michael turns up and doesn't seemed arsed most of the time.

the best thing about the show is Schmidt (assuming that's how you spell his name). He's fucking brilliant.

"Has anyone seen my driving mocassins ?"

Love the original and this is a great cover.

-
it's already been canceled.

Has anyone been watching Pan Am ?
Â
Â
I'm really enjoying it. Very easy to watch and some likeable characters. It also helps that there are some gorgeous girls dressed as stewardesses for 95% of the show. The other 5% they seem to be in their underwear. It's a tough watch
-
The very gorgeous Debra Stephenson from the not very good Impressions Show
Â
Â
This might have scraped into the Vintage Bintage thread but I can't remember the age rules in that thread. Debra is 39.

The Stone Cutters Song:"Who controls the British crown?Who keeps the metric system down?We do, we do!Who keeps Atlantis off the maps?Who keeps the Martians under wraps? We do, we do!Who holds back the electric car?Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star?We do, we do!Who robs cavefish of their sight?Who rigs every Oscar night? We do!We do!!!"

WTF ?!?!?

I originally saw this a while back but as I caught it the other day on Sky Movies I thought i'd mention it.
Â
Paul Blart - Mall Cop
Â
I thought it was quite fun. Obviously doesn't take itself too seriously and Kevin James is great. I have liked him since I used to watch endless eps of King Of Queens a few years back. One of the best things about it (apart from Jayma Mays ) is the soundtrack. It is amazing. On one soundtrack you have Survivor, Bon Jovi and Barry Manilow. Watch it if you can.

I still can't get my head around how they managed to pull off the non-gravity effect
Â
I believe they kit out a passenger airliner to look like the inside of a spaceship. The plane is then flown to a high altitude before the pilot basically puts it in a nosedive to the ground. Because the plane is falling at the same speed (or more) than gravity the passengers will experience weightlessness for a short time. I think they can only get about 30 secs of footage doing this before they turn the plane around, go back up and do it all again.
Â
This clip explains it better

An advert for Google Chrome
Â
Â
This is the first time in ages that an advert has got to me a little bit. I might just be a bit of a softy in my old age but I think this is really nice.
Â
Having said that I bet it starts a craze of people doing this for their scally kids.
Â
EDIT - Apparently the American version came first.
-
I think this goes very firmly in the less conventional camp..
Â
Rapunzel from "Tangled". You can keep your Jessica Rabbit, this is as fit as computer animation gets !

- No Way Out 2003
Â
The Youtube comment gets it right, this is an amazing line up of talent. On one card you have such greats as:
Â
Hogan
Rock
HHH
Steiner
Stone Cold
Flair
Batista
Orton
Taker
Big Show
Angle
Benoit
Lesnar
Kane
RVD
Edge
Jericho
Regal
Storm
Â
That is an amazing card for what the WWE would refer to as one of it's B Shows. There is no way you would get a card that good these days sadly :-(

I'm sorry does Debbie Harry have her snatch out in that pic. If so I hate the ageing process
She certainly does. Wonder if her snatch has aged as badly as her face...........
Â
Nah, she's just wearing VERY tight trousers
Â
Hell of a camel toe though !

I used to listen to Capital all the time when I lived in London. Did a morning paper round and had the radio on every morning. Used to love the Chris Tarrant Breakfast show. Any one remember this:
Â
Â
I miss enjoying the radio this much
