  1.

Line of Duty has been out fucking standing. Roll on Series 4!

I hope AC-12 are to investigate Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department in it

It really has, hasn't it? I've watched all 3 series' in about 3 weeks and now I'm gutted its finished. I don't think there will be a series 4, however. It seemed to come to a logical conclusion in last nights final episode.

Series 4 starts filming in August according to Martin Compton on Twitter. Yusssssss!!!

  2. There's a huge cast so there's still quite a few to tick off my list. I've met 22 of the main actors though. I'm going to another reunion in Bastogne (Belgium) in December though so hopefully there'll be at least 3-4 I've not met yet.

I have been doing some work with Bart Ruspoli recently. He was not a huge character in BOB (Pvt Edward Tipper) but was involved in one of the best scenes of the whole series.

  3. Thought I would wade in on the topic in hand as it is something that I have experience of.

I met a girl at Uni and apart from a couple before her she was my first real girlfriend. We were together for 4 years and it was very much a roller coaster for most of that time. For all the good things that happened there was also a lot of hard times that we went through. When we split up in 2003 I kidded myself that it was a"mutual decision" and for the first 24 hours it was. We both decided it was not working and wanted to move on. The next day, however, I decided I wanted her back but she was not having any of it. To make matters worse we owned a house together and neither of us couple really afford to live alone so even though we were split up we still lived in the same house. Her in "our" bedroom and me in the spare room. This was hell on earth and after a few weeks I could not stand it any more and moved out into a shit rental place in a shitty neighbourhood.

We always said we would be friends so we kept in contact. Looking back, I think I was still pushing for more, and trying to get back with her. I kept making plans with her and she kept cancelling them. I really didn't get the message. She had always wanted to go to NYC so a few months after we broke up me and a mate of mine went to NYC for Wrestlemania 20. I ended up spending the best part of a day going around all the shops for her and buying her stuff I know she would have liked. I had become such a sap. I went to see her when I got back and gave her the presents I bought for her. She was (rightly) quite embarrassed by the whole thing and it was very awkward. A few days later, I got drunk and wrote her a letter (when we started dating we lived miles apart so used to send each other letters, it was quite the romantic thing) which said how much I missed her and how much I wanted her back. A few days later I got a txt message from her and all it said was:

    "I have met someone else"

From that point on I decided to delete her number out of my phone and move on. It took me a long time to fully get over her and apart from a few encounters with the opposite sex I remained single for 5 years.

I truly thought my ex was the love of my life. We went through so much together and were each other's "firsts". We truly loved each other and I thought I would spend the rest of my life with her.

These days I am married to my current wife who is more than I could ever wish to have and have been with her for 7 years.  I suppose the moral of this story is that time is a great healer. You might not feel like you will ever get over an ex and it might not happen until you find someone else but you will get over them I am sure of it. It might take months, it might take years but eventually you will be able to look back with fondness at the good times and not be so upset by the bad times.

I have not had any contact from my ex since 2003 (12 years ago). I occasionally see things on Facebook via mutual friends about what she is up to but other than that she does not really enter my conciousness. It was a part of my life that was good and bad in equal measure but it made me what I am today.

  4. This Happy Valley is a motherfucker. Great cast and the baddy in it is desperate for a good kicking. Cop killing rapist. The bloke has more than built up a CV not seen since Clarence Boddicker. The cast is excellent. Sarah Lancashire, Steve Pemberton, George Costigan, Siobhan Finneran. Quite the group.

I worked on this series. In fact my name is on the credits each week. Have tried to avoid watching as much as possible at work so I can enjoy it at home. I have really been enjoying it. I know that the next Ep (4) is another cracker !!

  5. Been watching a load of SNL (Saturday Night Live) on Youtube recently and there is some really great stuff on there.

Some of the parody tracks they do are great and I think stand alone as decent tracks. Not counting the Lonely Island stuff I think these two are great

I love the SNL youtube page. Some great classic stuff on there too. I don't think Phil Hartman ever did anything that wasn't funny. Even shit films he turns up in, he's bloody wonderful.

I have been watching so much recently, the wife was out on Saturday and I think I spent most of the day on the S&NL youtube page !! Everyone has their favourite era but I think mine would be quite an unpopular choice as I have not dipped that much into the really early stuff. For me my favourite cast were:

    Kristen Wiig

    Bill Hader

    Fred Armisan

    Andy Samberg

    Jason Sudekis

    etc

Love anything with Jimmy Fallon in it at the moment and any appearance by Justin Timberlake is brilliant. His bits with Fallon or Samberg are always brilliant. Especially love the Barry Gibb Talk Show sketches due to my love of the Bee Gees song Nights on Broadway.

  7. Two things to mention:

    1) I am ludicrously excited about the last few eps. The day is finally here. Not going to stay up to watch it but will be watching it tomorrow evening as soon as I get in from work. Has there been this much "buzz" around a TV show for a while ? All my mates and most of the people on Twitter are talking about it. Suffice to say I will be staying off Twitter tomorrow to avoid spoilers.

    2) That Walter White "My Way" mashup that was mentioned in a link posted a few posts back has just been Tweeted by Walter White himself Bryan Cranston !!! Pretty fucking cool for whoever made it. Currently 22.5k views on Youtube. Interesting to see how much this jumps by with Walter White tweeting it.

  8. I'd reccomend Curb Your Enthusiasm, Trailer Park Boys and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia based off what you have there many of which are shows I also like and love the three iv'e mentioned. Their all fairly different but you should give a few episodes of each a try and see what works for you.

Thanks for that. I have seen TPB and you were correct I loved it. Will give the others a try.

    Cheers

  9. Over the last few days I have been off work I have been watching a shedload of "The Office"

I have always been a HUGE fan of the original UK version of The Office so was nervous when I heard about the American version. I watched the first series and wasn't greatly impressed. I think I compared it to much to the (in my mind) superior UK version and I felt it fell well short. I decided to persevere with it and over the years I watched as much as I could but as the transmission dates over here seemed to be quite sporadic I always missed big chunks. I soon found other things to watch and so found whole series passing by without me watching a single episode. I got back into recently with the eps that they had been showing on Comedy Central. This was around midway through Series 7. At this point the show went on another annoying hiatus.

So...while I was off the last few days I decided to download what I had missed. I knew that series 9 had finished so I had about 2 and a half series to watch. I managed to do that it about 4 days..........about 60 half hour episodes !!!!!

What a treat, I loved it and the days flew by. I won't spoil the finale of season 9 but I think it is up there with one of the best pieces of TV I have seen. I loved it. I found myself wanting to watch it all again right after. I was watching loads of Office related stuff on Youtube just to get my fix. It has only been a day since I finished watching the series but I miss it already. Seems weird to say but I do. What a fantastic series. Such a great cast and ensemble. Highly recommend anyone to watch it who has never seen it before.

Speaking of recommendations, can anyone clue me in to something similar that I would like ? I love decent American sitcoms and have been watching quite a few lately. This is what I have watched:

    The Office

    Parks and Recreation

    New Girl

    Happy Endings

    How I Met Your Mother

    Louis

Arrested Development (still need to watch the new series)

Can anyone reccomend something that they think I might enjoy watching ?

  10. Yeah, I liked Cafe but it's more of a Drama-Comedy, which most of Craig Cash's work outside Royle Family seem to be, ie. Sunshine, Early Doors

I don't think Cash wrote that actually, just directed it. Think it was Ralf Little and the girl in it who did it.

Cash's directing on it was one of the main reasons we didn't get a Royle Family Christmas Special this year.

Even more reason to love The Cafe then! It's written by Little and Michelle Terry who also plays Sarah.

I worked on that series last year. A second series has been commissioned.

  11. Did anyone see the doco the other night on Channel 4:

"The Girl Who Became 3 Boys"

Not the greatest of docos I have seen but a very interesting subject matter. The only thing that I cam away from it thinking was "How thick were the two girls in the doco". I won't spoil it if anyone is going to watch it but even though it is a true story the way it unfolds seems unreal.

  12. I currently have a Nokia N8, and whilst I love the phone for it's camera (12mp) video recorder (720p HD) and Sat Nav (which is free and uses GPS. Although it's downfall is it takes while to find you before you can use it) I'm really not a fan of the Symbian software. It was OK to start with and the recent updates have sped things up, but it really isn't a widely recognised OS and doesn't get much support in terms of Apps and Games.

I'm looking to cash in whilst it's still worth doing so, and would like to replace it with a phone with the same features that I like the N8 for (camera, video & SatNav). I'm not a fan of the iPhone at all, so don't try and pimp that to me. Any recommendations?

It has to be the Samsung Galaxy S3. I have the S2 and it is amazing. A lot of people have said that it is better the Iphone. Never used an Iphone so I couldn't comment but it definitely should do everything you need.
