  1. I've tried getting in to ROH lately but I can't get over how sterile and humourless the promotion is these days, the last iPPV was particularly difficult to watch because I just couldn't feel any kind of emotional connection with any of the performers, even the ones I was familiar with. I used to love the early stuff with the ludicrous scramble matches (I still have two Special K beanies somewhere), the "pure wrestling" and "strong style" contests and the phenomenal main event matches, but now it seems to be all about bland Firstname Surname guys with no charisma or personality going through the motions looking like they'd rather be somewhere else.

  2. Im surprised no one has said Akira yet. I love that film.

You're at least the third person to mention it.

I'm kinda surprised nobody's mentioned Azumanga Daioh yet. Anything animated by SHAFT is also gold; Pani Poni Dash, Negima, Hidamari Sketch, the Zetsubo Sensei series, Maria Holic, Bakemonogatari and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are all worth spending time on.

  3. 2.0 or 2.22 as the DVD is, is a mind fuck for fans of the series. Blind fan boys seem to detest it but i loved the changes, a real good film.

Fuck 'em, I liked the addition of Mari.

Oh and another one to watch, Serial Experiments Lain. I'm getting through it now and rather enjoying it, another headfuck "deep" anime.

Anything with characters designed by Yoshitoshi ABe is worth checking out, Serial Experiments Lain, Texhnolyze and Haibane Renmei are mandatory viewing. I'm gutted that Despera has been stalled.

GitS (1+2, series was okay too)

Stand Alone Complex is one of the most plausible depictions of the not-too-distant-future that I've ever seen.

  4. I watched Evangelion 1.0 You Are Not Alone or whatever its called very recently having never watched any of Neon Genesis Evangelion before and really liked it. Its like a re-imagining isn't it, very good. Looking forward to getting the second one on Blu Ray

    2.0 is epic.

  5. I would have liked them to give every rioter thousands of hours of community service to help rebuild the areas they have burnt down?

That would have been a better idea. If these people feel alienated from society then perhaps rebuilding the damage they helped cause would instill some community spirit in them. I wonder how they'd feel if they spent a month, say, tending to a garden only to have some gobshite come along the night before their last day and completely destroy it.

  6. I think people are just fed up with being led by the ear by politicians who don't live in the same world as they do, how can someone like Cameron understand what everyday life is like for a single mother living in a sink estate or a young man still living in his parents house because he can't afford to move out? I recently lost a job which paid a salary which is probably above average for someone of my age in this area and even when I was working I couldn't afford to live alone or even consider trying to buy a property, what is the government doing to help make property affordable for young people? I'm sharing a house with two other guys because it's all I can afford, none of us have pensions and I'm the only one with any kind of savings, what are we going to do when it's time to retire? That's what keeps me awake at night.

  7. Thats the problem Vito be it Lab, Lib or Con we get the same shit it's really no fucking wonder that the extreme right parties are slowly gaining more support by the day.

I don't know about that, the BNP have quickly lost each and every seat they've ever won because their candidates are imbeciles and the party has no real policies outside of hating foreigners. I agree that the two main parties in this countries are indistinguishable from each other and nobody will ever vote for the Lib Dems again because people mistakenly believed that they'd magically change the country overnight. What annoys me is when you see Labour MP's bitching about Tory cuts when it was Labour that put the country in this situation in the first place.

Very much so, and given that the Lib Dems are the minority partner they'll have less of a voice.

For the record I didn't vote Lib Dem, but I did vote for AV.

People seem to believe that the Lib Dems and the Conservatives are equal partners in running the country when in actuality, as you rightly said, the Lib Dems are just there to make up the numbers and have very little say at all. I did vote for the Lib Dems as a sort of protest against the big two, I also wanted AV and was pissed off with the blatant Labour and Conservative funded propaganda campaign that had it unanimously rejected by the electorate.

  8. I don't think the Lib Dems did "sell out the Nation" at all, in forming an alliance with the Conservatives both parties were forced to make compromises, that's how a coalition government works. Despite what everyone says about the Conservatives they're not doing anything that that Labour wouldn't have done if they'd won the election.

  9. However, people tend to get the government they deserve.

Totally disagree. In this country we vote for the least shit party because there is no best anymore. The Tories and Labour are essentially the same thing these days, especially after Blair (and later, Brown) decided that it would be a great idea to shaft families and the workforce. Is it any wonder the people are apathetic when nobody in politics seems to represent their views?

  10. It all kicked off in my local Chinese last night, someone got some hot dumpling soup poured on his head. To be honest I don't think it was racially or politically motivated, just wonton violence.

  11. The Sky News reporter was in Manchester interviewing a local councillor when they were suddenly surrounded by a gang of kids, the interviewer directed questions at the group and a white kid in a mask started going on about how he was there the make money and didn't give a fuck about the Police. It was a really tense scene and it felt like they could be set on at any second.

  12. Duggan family dont condone the violence so hopefully these idiots will hopefully stop now.

The rioters don't even know who Duggan was. This was about him for about five minutes in Tottenham, everything else has been motiveless carnage.

  13. BBC News telling the country right now that "all Police cells are full". I'm sure that little tidbit will help.

Oh, we're not getting water cannons either.
