  1. I had no idea this was happening tonight!! I can't wait. Chris Jericho bizarrely dropping his first name annoys me far more than it should. What's the point??
  2. It's probably something they'd do, unless Fletcher is actually turning babyface (perhaps less likely, given that the Death Riders are extremely unlikely to turn any time soon) but I'd really like to see them run Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight at some point. Knight has really come into his own as of late. I'd wrongly thought they were overrating him for the longest time, but now he's really nailing it on the mic as well as in ring. He did well against Omega, but he was never going to win the title at that point - run that match in early 2027, and it'll seem much more plausible that he might and it'll elevate Knight even further. I'd like to see them give Daniel Garcia a main event push next year too. It feels like the right time to give him the chance to sink or swim; much as they did Kevin Knight earlier this year. I don't think he should turn heel - but I think they could tell a brilliant story by having him win the Continental Classic this year, finally hitting that next level. Maybe Moxley loses early then supports his team mate in going all the way, maybe the final is Moxley vs. Garcia (with neither turning, obviously). The time is right to finally elevate Garcia, I reckon.
  3. Another thing that I disliked about his promo was that it was focused on Roman Reigns being a phony. There was no fire or passion about the prospect of winning his first world title, and nothing that made me want to see that happen. It was "you're a moaner", "yeah? Well, you're fake and overpushed" and that was that. Maybe if Knight had cut a killer promo about wanting to finally reach the summit, I'd feel differently about this. If he doesn't seem to care about winning the World Title, why should I care? And yeah, maybe this is by design, because they don't plan to have him win. But I don't really see the benefit of not framing becoming World Champion as his goal and dream. I can't say I agree with you here. If Knight had beaten Reigns at the height of his popularity, you'd not have had the magical moment of Cody beating him at Wrestlemania - or at least, the context would have been different if you had. While it's definitely a risk to put the World title on LA Knight, it's also a risk to stick a fork in a live plug socket and I wouldn't condone that either. For better or worse, Oba Femi does seem to be another level of over right now. While I think holding off on the Reigns/Femi match until Wrestlemania is too long to wait; particularly since it's going to be a show in Saudi Arabia, given the reactions he has been getting, it's probably the right choice to have him as your next World Champion. Penta winning in Mexico was the other option, but that moment has passed now. Yes, he's been on TV for a while now and is currently feuding with Dragon Lee after losing to him last week. EDIT: @Supremo - I thought Sol Ruca was brilliant in NXT, but you're spot on - something is off with her on the main roster, and she seems to be plagued with a level of self-doubt that makes her scary to watch. I don't know if she's low on confidence or what it is, but there's clearly an issue that wasn't there previously.
  4. Agreed - and I don't disagree with @Merzbow either, I'm definitely a bit fatigued when it comes to Soulslikes. It's why games like Pragmata and Onimusha were so fun for me, they feel like the exceptions to the current trend of everything being a Soulslike or a roguelike. Having just said that, the demo felt really good to play. I suppose it felt closer to Hollow Knight than a traditional Castlevania game, but it also captured the grim, forboding atmosphere of the cartoon, and it felt like the kind of brutal world that show presented, which I appreciated. The proof will be in the final game, but I really liked this and I do feel optimistic now about what this is going to be.
  5. Admittedly I've only seen clips, but the Roman Reigns/LA Knight segment...they just can't help themselves from stepping into muddy 'worked shoot' territory when they want something to feel 'real' or heated. And what's the point? Knight referring to 'them' shoving a rocket up Reigns' arse. Calling him 'manufactured'. Reigns rattling on about Knight 'whining' that 'they' had nothing for him. Who are 'they'? In the fictional world, the idea of strapping the rocket to someone makes no sense - you either win or you don't, and if you do, you therefore deserve a title shot. If you're winning matches without getting your opportunity fair enough, have a moan, but that's not the context in which this was presented. I really do wonder how many segments like this they have on average each year, it's such a tired format and I wish they'd stop. How many of their fans even follow the backstage nonsense closely enough to understand any of this? While I'm not a fan of the gang wars nonsense - which is almost certainly happening because they have one eye on Wargames - it's nice to see Royce Keyes get some level of push. I know he took a pay cut to move to WWE, but if his ultimate ambition was to be in a more featured role, I guess he's achieved that. I enjoyed him as Powerhouse Hobbs, but realistically he was very unlikely to ever end up in a main event slot in AEW. Given how stacked that roster is, it would be difficult to justify pushing him at that level; plus Tony Khan doesn't favour larger wrestlers. I hope there's long term gain for him from a pay perspective - if I remember rightly, he joined before pay started getting chopped left, right and centre and presumably he would have hoped to step up a level financially after proving himself. But...I imagine that's doubtful. Still, good on him for moving up the card.
  6. Gave it a play based on your post here, in spite of not being the biggest fan of Dead Cells, and my goodness this looks set to be exactly what would have wanted it to be. I’m very excited about this one after playing the demo.
  7. I'd be absolutely stunned if this was the case - it would be exposed by the press pretty quickly, particularly those who have a vested interest in taking down the BBC. The smartest thing to do is keep him around until the end! You know he's a Traitor, you get rid of him and they'll recruit someone else making your life harder. Try to get him to slip up as to who the other Traitors might be - he's clearly a loose cannon - and ditch him at that final round table.
  8. I could see it being a combination of things - I don't know if this is still the case, but their TV tapings have historically been incredibly long. That's surely off-putting for anyone considering a return trip. Added to that, you have the fact Trump's insane policies have create a whole new level of financial challenge for people in the States (and worldwide) - if you're going to make cuts to your spend, live events of any sort and paid-for entertainment is going to be topping the list. I'm sure there are other factors too, but given how good AEW has been for the last two years and how they seem to be growing by pretty much every other conceivable metric, it does seem a bit strange.
  9. Haven't their PPVs been selling well, though? I might be wrong on that, but I was certainly under that impression. I'd actually love to see them do All In 2027 from Arena Mexico, the Grand Slam shows there have been so bloody fun, and if you add the magnitude of All In to that, you have the ingredients in place for another all-timer.
  10. I totally agree with you here. One thing that stood out to me - maybe not in the moment, but on rewatch - with the multi-tag team confrontation at All In was that although the division is stacked, all of the main tag teams in it are on the older side. There's a reality in which The Acclaimed and The Gunns were part of that moment and in a way, it's a shame that we're not in it. AEW is great at pushing younger wrestlers in singles competition, but I'd love to see them put some energy into finding and pushing the next generation of main event tag teams over the next year. I'd be absolutely delighted if they ended up resigning The Acclaimed on big money deals, it's really sad to think we may never see them team together again.

    MyAEW

I know that @HarmonicGenerator and I have had frequent problems with the new MyAEW service (specifically with it freezing very, very frequently when watching on an Apple device - what should be the most convenient way of watching shows for me), but I wanted to get a general take on how the service has been for you. Do you like it? Have you had issues? Of the new shows/companies being added, are there any hidden gems/recommendations you have? I’m starting this in part because I legitimately do think there’s a decent chance people from AEW lurk on this forum, and I’m hoping that by drawing their attention to the issues, they’ll be fixed more quickly. But y’know, share whatever recommendations etc that you like. I’d be interested in checking them out, if I ever get the damn service working properly.
  12. I originally posted this in the AEW TV 2025 Discussion thread, completely forgetting that this was the past, and we’ve all now moved on. So here’s a 2026 thread, which I’ll open by sharing a mildly edited version of my pre-existing post about a very mediocre episode of Collision. Here’s hoping this isn’t AEW starting as they mean to go on: That episode of Collision…oh boy. Nothing mattered, literally nothing. The giant C on El Clon as he heads to the ring is probably the most notable part on the show, in that it approaches Giant Gonzales levels of bad ring gear. I hope he’s unmasked sooner rather than later - he’s clearly a very talented guy saddled with one of the worst gimmicks AEW has ever offered up. Poor Eddie Kingston. First of all, he’s paired with Hook, now Ortiz. He goes from feuding with the World Champion to feuding with a tag team whose names I suspect fans don’t even know. Heck, all I can say myself is ‘one of them is Zach Gibson’. More Darby vs Death Riders. Fuck me, what’s the point? As soon as he beats Pac and you think this neverending nonsense is over, I’ve no doubt he’ll go after Moxley again with the title on the line and the whole thing will continue. Dante Martin has improved a lot on the mic, and I think he’s being wasted as part of Sky Flight. All in all, a very, very, very, very skippable show.
  13. Today is reveal day for the Nintendo switch 2, with an hour long presentation revealing more about the console and games line-up taking place at 2pm UK time. Here’s the direct link if you want to watch it. With that in mind, I thought I’d create a thread so we can all talk about the new console - clearly there will be more to say after the presentation, but what are you hoping to see? Will you be buying one? Some of the rumours so far… * The c-button turns it into a dual-screen device like the Wii U (link to screen rant) * There may be confirmation of the Final Fantasy IX remake (Metro) * The joycon can be used as a mouse (Eurogamer) Nouse functionality seems all but confirmed, although I don’t quite understand the point myself. But we’ll see what they have to showcase it. Either way, 2pm can’t come quickly enough!
