Paul Felder wants to fight at UFC 300.

I did read recently that he was back in the USADA pool “just incase” an appealing fight came up. I think the move here is clearly Felder vs Jim Miller, right? Miller’s been on about wanting to fight at 300, having already fought at UFCs 100 and 200, so it’s a really cool bit of history for him and Felder just seems like the perfect kind of opponent. They both seem like the perfect opponent for each other.

Just saw this on twitter and had the exact thought that it would be the perfect fight for Jim Miller. Great bit of history and it should be a decent fight!

  2. Didn’t catch the prelims but this wasn’t a bad show. Thought the Nelson/Padilla fight was a bit slow but the card picked up after that.

Didn’t think the Holland/JDM fight was as close as it was made out to be, I thought JDM won and was the right call.

The main event, that was close to call. I had it 3-2 to Grasso but honestly could have gone either way. Given how close it was and the draw, I suspect we see them run it back again.

As far as upsets go, that was one of the biggest in a while. I don't think we have seen a one sided upset since maybe TJ Dillashaw vs Barao. Usually with upsets, the person wins with a knock out of no where or a sequence of damage due to the champions miss step. Rarely do we see an upset like last nigh where the champion loses pretty much every round.

Agreed, it was really one sided. I don’t think many gave Strickland much of a chance, there is always a punchers chance but it’s not like he’s known for his knock out power. To go out and pretty much win every round and take hardly any damage was impressive.

Already seen on twitter cry’s Izzy was never that good anyway…

Man, have we ever seen such an amazing character turn as Sean "Apex Predator" Strickland? Who would have thought he'd be getting cheered to victory in his opponents back yard and ending the fight with a Rocky-esque speech?

He's the best thing in UFC right now. Such a feel-good story. From an abusive childhood, a racist grandpa, to a champion, a man of the people.

I'm actually wiping away tears as I type this.

    #AndNew #ApexPredator

I must admit, I did find myself cheering him on and rooting for him as the fight went on. I was on the edge of my seat in the final seconds of the 5th round.

Got to go down as one of the biggest title fight upsets ever. The audio kept cutting out during his post fight interview but I thought he came across more likeable than most other times I’ve heard him speak. And at least he didn’t drop the F word like a couple of others.

  5. Been so busy the past month I’ve hardly caught any mma but no plans this weekend so I’ll be watching.

I really want to see the Izzy v DDP fight next which means the Strickland is going  to knock Izzy out cold. It will only be right if the rematch is in Stricklands back yard, the Apex.

Overall, it’s not a great ppv but hopefully the crowd will bring it to life and give it that extra bit of energy.

  6. Enjoyable card overall. I went with O’Malley in the pole. I thought it would be an easy win for one of them, just wasn’t 100% sure who. The UFC and Dana are going to be all over O’Malley as champ, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the cover of the next UFC game.

Apparently, Ian Garry got the first ever 30-24 scorecard. I also missed the build up so didn’t hear about the comments Magny made about hitting his kids so rather happy to see him take a beating.

  7. Looking forward to this now. Really stacked card!

Think I went Gaethje in the poll but not really convinced on that pick, really could go either way. Should be a hell of a fight though!

Gone for Pereira, think he will get the ko late in the first. Still surprised they didn’t slap the interim title on this. Got to assume they have something else in mind.

Do we think this could be Tony’s last fight?  Another bad loss here surely singles the end?

Gutted. Umar Nurmagomedov’s out of the Sandhagen fight. I was really looking forward to that one. Umar’s first 5 rounder and a massive step up in competition, would’ve answered some questions. Why does this shit always happen to the good fights and not the Holm/Strickland bollocks?

Looks like Rob Font is stepping in according to twitter. Going to be 140lbs catchweight.

Adesanya's an Andrew Tate supporter, so I'm backing DDP.

That’s certainly not going to help his case (well, I’m sure with some of the mma fan base it will). I thought he came across really poor on Saturday and like a few others I have started to sour on him. Fully behind DDP now, if nothing else it might freshen up the division.

Not sure what’s next for Bobby knuckles now, he’s beaten most people.

Best card of the year so far by quite a distance. From the first prelim to the main event it was non-stop violence. So many of the UFC cards these days seem like faceless filler but this one was full of meaningful stuff that will impact their divisions.

The build up to Adesanya vs De Plessis has the potential to plumb new depths unfortunately. That went to some dark places in the cage immediately after the fight, never mind what can happen in the next few months. It could make McGregor in the build-up to Khabib look like the height of sportsmanship.

Yeah the Izzy/DDP face off was pretty dreadful! God knows what levels that might sink to in the coming months!

Thought DDP looked good, has an awkward sloppy kinda style but seems to be working.

  11. Great writes up as always!

looking forward to this card, I’ve missed been out of the loop and missed the past several fight nights.

I completely forgot Moreno was 2-0 down,  not sure if I’ve seen the first 2 fights or not. Like Egg said, it seems to have flown under the radar. Should be a good fight and I think Moreno gets the job down either in points or a stoppage in the championship rounds.

I assume everyone is backing Volk. Would be a hell of an upset but stranger things have happened!

Until the main and co-main this was shaping up to be a great event, the last two fights did knock the wind of my sails though.

I zoned out a little during Sterling/Cejudo so have no real opinion on the scoring but it was close, the fight lacked any real drama though. Merab post-fight though, absolute MVP of the night, brilliant.

Belal/Burns was unfortunate and Burns was clearly hindered badly by the injury but fuck me Belal is dull to watch. He got the job done but he did the same thing over and over for 5 rounds, it worked so can't really knock it but he's dull as dishwater.

I think this sums it up for me as well. I’d zoned out a bit by the main and wasn’t giving it my full attention. It was close but I think the right man won. Lacking any real drama is a good way to sum the fight up.
Sterling is saying he will fight O’Malley and then is moving up to go after Volk.

The co-main really was dull, I think both men being injured didn’t help but Belal hasn’t done himself any favours in making people want to see him fight for the belt.

  13. Really enjoyed that card, seemed to fly by. Even Ed Herman’s fight was enjoyable!

Allen did well but just looked a step below Max. We are inevitably going to get Max v Volk 4 aren’t we…. Volk is one of my favourites but it might be better long term if he loses the belt to Yair and moved up to 155 permanently.
