I just loaded it up on the Network and clicked to a random point. Landed on Steiners vs. Headshrinkers, and at about 39:36, Samu just launches Scott headfirst over the ropes. How he didn’t die, I’ll have no idea.

Shocking that wasn’t it, they also don’t show a replay of the finish as Scott misses the frankensteiner

  2. Watched Wrestlemania IX yesterday to see if it was as bad as I remembered. Made me feel sorry for the debuting JR, trying to hold it together with Savage must have been difficult. Apart from repeated grunts of “lock and load” and “do the thing” perhaps Macho’s best contribution was “they’re hanging from the rafters, except it’s a coliseum so there are no rafters but coliseums had columns so they’re hanging from the columns”. At that point JR would have been well within his rights to snap back “what the fuck are you babbling on about?”

  3. The Commandant and the Truth Commission, haven’t thought about them for years and then this morning I remember the Commandant cutting a promo on raw. Didn’t really work for them did it?

  4. I haven’t rewatched it in years so this may be faulty memory but at the USS Intrepid who can slam Yokozuna event; when the helicopter landed I’m sure the fans initially chanted “Hogan, Hogan” as they assumed it was Hulk, event host Todd Pettengill was having none of that and down the microphone attempted to get the crowd to chant “Lex, Lex”. Nobody wanted any part of that and he got the same treatment as when someone tries to start a chant at a sporting event but nobody buys it and they then get a chorus of “on your own”. Instead the crowd chanted “Luger, Luger” as his voice sadly trailed away.

Watched the newest episode of Untold about the Triple H / Mick Foley feud from 99/00 and thought it was really good.

I genuinely could not remember that bump Foley took through the top of the cage and through the ring.

Great show, speaking of the bump through the cell, Triple H speaks about Foley lighting the bat as being the perfect “distraction” before the backdrop.

Got me thinking, the panel concerned must have been “gimmicked”, isn’t that a bit of a risk, what if either of them had lost their bearings up there and stood on that panel?

Either that or whilst the camera was on Foley, Triple H took out a toolbox, a brew and some sandwiches and did some bolt snipping the crafty bugger.

  6. Always makes me chuckle when I hear the segues into an advert on a podcast, new leader on the board from the latest JR podcast.

After a heartfelt JR piece about Terry Gordy being on borrowed time in the WWE as The Executioner before his untimely death, Conrad chirpily piped in with “do you feel like you’re on borrowed time with your mobile provider?”

  7. Remember one interview the LAW did with Dynamite and Benoit at the same time.

Dynamite said,”if I thought you were the shits I would tell you” as Benoit repeatedly said thank you

Moxley on Talk is Jericho is really good. He talks in-depth about his creative frustrations, citing specific examples and naming the people involved. Really illuminating stuff.

Just listened myself, can hear the frustration in his voice particularly at his last year in the company, Vince does not come out of it well.

Essentially yes. I don't think they were keen on the barb wire either but the tits were the main issue IIRC.

And yet on an earlier time slot there were knockers galore on Eurotrash with Antoine and Jean Paul, double standards

For anyone that attended, how was the event? Any major gripes?

Cracking event, Flair went out of his way to have a good chat with my starstruck son, Hacksaw was great, had a good chat with Christian in the afternoon he’s not sure whether the network show with Edge is coming back. Hall and Nash also high fived my son so all in all great. Well organised and friendly people.

  11. Listening to a fairly recent episode of Talk is Jericho, guests are a mate of Jerichos and someone who had a minor role in classic film “The Warriors” as the episode is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the films release.

The gentleman who was in the film responds to nearly every question or comment by wetting himself laughing. It’s really made my afternoon listening to him laughing at everything for no reason.

  12. When I was much younger I avidly watched Superstars of a weekend, one highlight was always vignettes for new wrestlers.

One series aired on Bob Backlund (who I had never heard of) and one vignette came back to mind yesterday.

Vince on voiceover “Bob is preparing to return to the WWF and step away from his construction business.”

Cut to Bob atop a ladder hammering something. Stood next to him an unidentified individual who piped up with, “Gee Bob, I really wish you weren’t leaving.”

Bob, “Well a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.”

Both lines were delivered with as much passion and fire as a dead slug, even as a kid I remember thinking ‘this berk is going to get battered”.
