When I'm introduced to new people from abroad my first instinct is to name a football team or player I think they'll support or recognise. Apart from Canadians, they always get the "Oh nice, like Bret Hart then!" treatment from me. I'm shameless.

I've just had a 20 minutes chat with a Canadian based on nothing more than name dropping Bret Hart when he mentioned his home town.

I went to Warwick Uni and spent a bit of a time in Coventry itself (ie, went on nights out there during my first year) so from my extremely limited experience from being there - its a decent student city. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Ah thats good to hear. A family friend had mentioned it was rubbish for night life but that'd have been over 10 years ago. Didn't look to bad yesterday walking round the city.

Yeah, Cov is a real student city and seems to be in better shape now than a few years back. My wife did her degree at Cov uni and a masters at Warwick. Warwick is very Tory though, but then a lot of Cov folk hate students as much as Muslims.

 

This isn't true at all, at least from my perspective.

The scores of internationals whose parents sent them to private boarding schools and the large proportion of Warwick students that go in to banking or finance might give off that vibe, but we were a pretty liberal/leftie bunch when I was there. Warwick has absolutely nothing on Durham, Oxford or Cambridge for toffs and Toriness.

None taken, I got annoyed with her constantly retweeting her Hills Have Eyes-esque followers on Twitter for wearing her t shirt or hashtagging #LEGIT #BO$$ and pretty much told her so. That was probably the nail in the coffin.

If, under the 1000000/1 chance I ever find myself in sexual contact with Sasha Banks I'd find it difficult not to think about Snoop Dogg, I don't know how this makes me feel.

Watching Mankind vs Rock from the Royal Rumble '99 again and there's a hilarious line from Jerry Lawler on commentary I'd forgotten about - Rock has been knocked down in the ring in the middle of the match and Earl Hebner asks him over the microphone "whaddya say Rock?" and Lawler immediately says "he doesn't talk in his sleep you idiot, get outta there!", sure enough, Rock says nothing and Mankind continues to beat him up and the match goes on. It doesn't seem as funny written down but it's brilliant, trust me.

Late to the party here but just bought a PS4 and hooked it up to my 32 inch telly (was watching on a laptop before) and the picture quality on the Network is incredible, even the old footage looks great on my new setup, better than any other app or channel I use. The HD looks so good I've trouble stopping rolling my plums and foreskin around in my hand when the Divas come on.

Goosebumps

The Mr Perfect on there has one eye lower than the other. I do like quite a few of them though, one of the Warrior portraits is stunning in its detail for example.

I've been thinking of getting a wrestling related tattoo actually, something more subtle than "FOLEY IS GOD" across my forehead of course probably a custom designed lucha mask or a small wrestling ring. 

Why does Summerslam 98 seem to be filmed in such dreadful quality?

Its noticeable on both the Tagged Classic DVD and the Network, it obviously doesn't hold a candle visually or audio wise with the modern HD product but even compared to shows from the era (and before it) it sounds muffled and the picture is much grainier.

Could there have been a problem with the equipment on the night?

Who saw the bloke in the audience with the yellow and black sash saying "THE HONORABALE MAYOR OF NXT"? Camera panned to him when Sasha interrupted Bayley... gobshite.

Anyway a good show overall, can't wait for this ironwoman match although I feel like the end result is a bit predictable.
