  1. I got into Progress not too long ago and started from Chapter 1. I've got a lot of time on my hands though so maybe that's not for everyone.

I'd recommend starting with one or two of the latest shows (chapter 23 and 24 for example) for a taster. If you like those then either head back to the start or, as has been suggested, go from Chapter 9 to follow the Jimmy Havoc story.

  2. It's a fair point. Who has time to let characters develop? Make a snap judgement immediately and if you don't like them, never bother with them again.

Remember the "blue chipper" Rocky Maivia? Shite. Stupid hair and a terrible outfit. Never bothered with him after Survivor Series 96, just turned the TV off every time he turned up.

  3.

I was half expecting all the faces to run down to the ring and start fighting the heels (Ambrose, Ryback, Uso's etc) but I'm guessing that will happen on the go home raw before the rumble.

Along these lines...has it ever been explained why Ambrose (Roman's best friend) and the Usos (Roman's family) never, or rarely, run in to help him?

  4. Other people can give you a better idea historically, but I'd say if you enjoyed last night it's worth going back a couple of years to WrestleKingdom 6 or 7 and working your way through those and if you have time, the big events like Invasion Attack, Dominion, G1 finals, Power Struggle etc.

Worth noting there was another show that just finished airing this morning called New Year Dash that is usually a good "Raw after Wrestlemania" type show.

There's a decent recommended match list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZsZCBTpKjHzdbCpKZ1No1KAdpmOd2OcgSMfC1-oa7pI/edit#gid=0

Admittedly it's a mere 700 matches, but the ones with dark yellow backgrounds are good bets for the vintage stuff.

That should keep me busy for a while. Cheers both.

  5. I signed up to NJPW World specifically for this event, having heard almost overwhelmingly positive things about it. I've not watched much in the way of Japanese wrestling previously but I really enjoyed the show. It seems a shame to just cancel my subscription, particularly as I'm probably not going to miss £6 a month. If anyone has any recommendations for events to watch please go ahead and recommend away!

  6. “First the Worst, Second the Best” Match

The object is to get pinned by your opponent. Of course, the only way make your opponent pin you is to knock them unconscious then drape them across you for the 1-2-3.

The idea can also be extended to Battle Royals where the object is to chuck yourself over the top rope with both feet hitting the floor. The last person remaining is fired so you have to try and stop others jumping out.

I’m gonna give Dixie a call, bro.
