Extremely solid first round and some tasty potential quarters and semis. As an aside, does anybody know any more on the Manchester show? I understand this weekend is the priority but all I'm aware of is Travis Banks vs Jack Sexsmith and Jinny vs Toni Storm. Have I missed anything else?

I don't think they've announced anything else for Manchester yet. Probably waiting for this weekend to be over - I imagine a few stories and matches will come from whatever happens at the tournament.

I've got a feeling Gibson is winning the SSS16 this year. Imagine him then taking his title match at the big show in Manchester and winning the title.

Young Lion Kitamura has had to retire due to head injuries...

Real shame, he had the look and the ability to be a future star anywhere.

Aw, I was enjoying his recent trial series. What a shame to have to retire so young.

If I sign up for their streaming service, will Supercard of Honor be available On Demand? Or is it considered a PPV? They messaging regarding this service is a mess. Just put everything on there and you’ll get my money.

Yep. Sign up for the 9.99 a month option and you get Supercard of Honor as it's a "special event" rather than a PPV.

  4. I mostly really like Kevin Kelly's commentary. However, I really can't stand the way he shouts the names of certain big moves for ages. Mainly "Supppeerrrkkkiiiiiicccccccckk" and "Rainmaaaakkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrr". It's not the fact he's elongating the words it's the tone/pitch he does it in. That's it though, everything else about him is top.

  5. I am looking forward to it but not as much as I have been previous years. I think that is entirely due to the fact that I went to Wrestlemania last year and really wish I was there again so I'm kidding myself that I'm not full of envy that this year's card is so much better.

I've done a tweet thread thing on the best way to pay for any streaming stuff over Mania weekend that may be helpful to some. The long and short of it is - if you can sign up to FITE and install their app for the first time on a device, you can get equal credit back for every purchase in the first 24 hours. I. E. You could buy 2 PPV's and get equal credit to buy another 2 back.

If you use one of the promo codes I mention in the thread on their app, you get $15 credit as a new user also.

This is excellent news! I'll be doing this for sure, cheers!

My understanding was that you only got ROH PPVs free with the VIP Honor Club membership which is a one off $120 a year. Is that not the case?

EDIT: Just read your Tweets. Ignore me!

  7. New Japan have a (sort of) show in the US the day before the MK show. I hope that doesn't mean half the roster will be missing.

CEO Founder, Director and Promoter Alex Jebailey has been teasing a massive announcement for the annual summer event in Florida, one that would shock the fighting game community to its core — and he finally delivered with the announcement of CEO X NJPW.

This will be a live professional wresting event, featuring the stars of New Japan Pro Wrestling — which has been steadily nurturing and growing its relationship in the United States with the G1 Special in USA, and a return to Long Beach, California set for later this month for the Strong Style Evolved event. But now, the stars of New Japan will be bringing their unique brand of hard-hitting action to Daytona Beach, Florida — the site of CEO 2018 — on Friday, June 29th, to kick off the massive weekend of festivities.

Dubbed “an experience and crossover event the FGC will never forget,” by Alex Jebailey, the TO notes that tickets for “The King of Sports” event will go on sale in April; a special pre-sale and price discount for all CEO 2018 registrants will be available, and “affordable general admission” is promised. The match card will be revealed at a later date. When asked about seating, Jebailey noted that there would be “over 9,000 if needed,” and that those with spectator passes will also be e-mailed about the pre-sale.

“The Cleaner” Kenny Omega — former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight and first-ever United States Champion — has attended the last two CEOs as a special guest, and has already confirmed his attendance on Twitter, exclaiming that this is “The crossover event [he’s] been waiting for!” while extending an invite to WWE’s Xavier Woods to come with him

You don't know you're born. When I were a lad and wanted wrestling-related fun, I had to chew on broken glass and set myself on fire before throwing myself through a table - and that was my breakfast, too.

Luxury! We had to make our own figures, of Nailz and only Nailz, out of gravel until our hands bled. And we had to pay Vince McMahon for the privilege!

What’s happened to the Britwres Crusader? The Twitters gone missing

I know they got a 48 hour ban for something over the weekend. Presumably someone they've accused has reported them to Twitter and the ban is now permanent.

Spot on. I don't dislike Cole at all, it's the fact that they don't decry heel tactics that grates on me, and that isn't his doing, that comes from the top. The modern mantra in WWE that there are no heels or faces and in turn no real heel or face actions, just shades of grey and everybody "does what they gotta do to win"....."He found a way to win Book". Picture JR during KOTR was it? when Austin faced Shane and Vince and the briefcase was being moved up out of reach, "well you gotta do what you gotta do King, the McMahons thought outside the box" fucking no chance.

Or ending Wrestlemania X7 with "Stone Cold is shaking hands with Vince McMahon! Cracking business decision, that."

Really basic dumbass question here; if you sign up for NJPW World can you configure it to be in English?

Also, what is the British price? I got to the billing screen, which just said 999 Yen, which is about 6 quid? Is there any joining fee or owt?

So, basically, is it worth it? How much does it cost? And is it easy for a non-Japanese speaker to use?

Also, if all above is a yes, what’s the show schedule on there? Basically, I’ve been meaning to get into NJPW again for ages (used to be into it maybe a decade ago when I’d just get DVD’s delivered) but haven’t known how. But now I pretty much watch no WWE, I’m open to another wrestling company taking its place rather than fall out of watching altogether.

They have an option to switch the site to English, plus Chrome will translate it too. It's not perfect English but it's easy enough to understand where you need to go/what you need to select to get where you want. I use the Firestick app and that's in English and pretty easy to navigate.

It works out at about ÂŁ6.80 a month. No joining fee.

There are plenty of shows on there - too many to keep up with for me! Rather than weekly shows like Raw and Smackdown they have lots of "Road To..." shows which are shows building up to the next big event (PPV, if you will). They also have a few tournaments (Best of Super Juniors, G1 Climax, etc.) which are done in a round robin format so you get loads of shows there too. All the big shows now have English commentary too.

I think it's well worth it even if you only watch the big events.

  12. Sunday's card is looking pretty, pretty good.

Pete Dunne vs Jimmy Havoc for the PROGRESS World Title

British Strong Style vs South Pacific Power Trip for the Tag Titles

    Will Ospreay vs Mark Andrews

    Zack Gibson vs El Ligero

    Ringkampf vs Hunter Brothers

Jinny vs Nixon Newell (NPS Semi Final)

    James Drake vs Jack Sexsmith

Nathan Cruz vs Flash Morgan Webster

I imagine that World title match is going to see a fair few shenanigans involving Ospreay, BSS and Webster. Wouldn't be surprised to see Paul Robinson and Mark Haskins turn up either.

  13. Also, the British workers on the show, do they know this isn't a charity show anymore?

I did wonder why Martin Kirby and El Ligero aren't booked on this show when they are almost always at the Preston shows. Probably a coincidence but with them being so close to Kris Travis it does make you (well, me) wonder.

Joey Hayes is there though so it probably is just coincidence.

  14. He really needs to hire someone to do those posts

I've thought this for some time. I'm sure the way PCW speak to their fans over social media plays some part in the dwindling attendance over the last few shows (in Preston anyway, I've not been to any of the other shows). Taking the piss out of fans asking legitimate questions - alright they might get asked the same question over and over but there is no need to mock paying customers. With so much choice in the UK nowadays people are just going to get their wrestling fix elsewhere if PCW continue to openly take the piss out their fans.

  15. No problem with them facing the hard camera to make the pin, that's fine and makes sense as it's a TV show. Nia Jax needs to make it look a bit more natural though, rather than hitting her finisher, getting up and having a little jog around the ring to get into position. She could just lie with her back on top of the opponent, leaning on them almost. She'd be facing the camera and it'd make her look even more "physically dominant" that she doesn't even need to pin her opponents properly to beat them.

  16. Very happy to see Pete Dunne vs Pentagon Dark announced.

The line up is looking pretty good overall. Strange not to see regulars like Mastiff, Ligero, Rampage, Kirby but nice to mix it up a bit.

I saw Roy Knight say something on Twitter about sharing his birthday with Sha Samuels and them celebrating that weekend in Preston so I presume they'll be there for one show at least.

  17.

Might be something to do with venue availability or something, but I'm not sure I like the change.  The good thing about the normal weekender schedule (Friday night; Saturday afternoon; Saturday night) is that you get the two 'big' main night shows with the big party atmosphere etc, with something a little more light-hearted in the middle to break everything up.  Everything peaks for the big final Saturday night show.  It's a good schedule.

What they are doing this time (Saturday afternoon; Saturday night; Sunday afternoon/teatime) means you have probably a cold opening on Saturday afternoon, the big Saturday night show (usually the one with the biggest attendance and best atmosphere) is actually right in the middle of the whole thing, then the close won't likely have the same atmosphere what with being an early start/finish (and a Sunday).

That's my thinking too. On the plus side, the general admission weekend tickets are cheaper this time around! Probably to entice people to stay for the Sunday show.

  18.

Pete Dunne has been added to the Kris Travis Memorial Tournament in February. I hoping to see Dunne vs Pentagon Dark at some point that weekend.

That's a match I was instantly hoping for too.  Glad Pete's coming back to PCW - it'll be nearly 2 years since he was last there (5uper5how weekender in April 2015, I think, with the match against Sabu, and only the Kris Travis fundraiser show before that) and his profile has skyrocketed since then.  Good signing.  I am expecting Dunne to only make the quarter-finals at best, though (the 2 shows on the Saturday), since PROGRESS have a show on the Sunday which clashes with Show 3 of the PCW weekend (the semis and final) that I would expect he'll be booked for.

Yea that's a good point, Dunne will surely be at PROGRESS on the Sunday.

I hadn't noticed that the tournament was Saturday & Sunday rather than the usual PCW Friday/Saturday. Will be strange the Saturday afternoon being the first show of the tournament rather than the "hangover" show.

  19. I still attend, and enjoy, the Preston based PCW shows as I live about 10 minutes from the venue but there is a noticeable decline in attendance recently. I suspect it's a combination of running shows in other cities, a lack of a clear identity (the few storylines they have seem to be dropped and picked back up randomly) and their terrible customer service, such as taking the piss out of paying customers on social media, taking months to send orders out, etc.
