  1. Anybody know how long PCW DVDs usually take to come?

Sent an order through 3.5 weeks ago and not had anything yet.

Ages. I think they're a pretty small team so when they've got shows on they don't send anything out the week before or week after. If it was a pre-order you'll probably be waiting a lot longer.

  2. Never been to a progress show but considering going to the Manchester show.

    What is the venue like?

What company is Progress most like?

Are the shows heavily storyline based?

I've been to quite a lot of PCW shows as they're local to me but find the matches there to be quite poor and nearly always comedy based.

The Ritz is a great venue, both in terms of general aesthetics and the fact you can be stood or sat anywhere and you've got a great view of the ring.

I go to virtually every PCW show and I always enjoy it but for me it's more of just having a laugh and chanting shit. You get that at PROGRESS too but you also get better matches (for the most part), storylines and it just feels much more professional all round. I'm far more invested in what happens in PROGRESS.

I'd start at Chapter One if I were you! (but 28, which was in Manchester, is a good starting point for catching up quickly).

  3.

Absolutely. One of my favourite things to do over the last few years is boo the shit out of Bubblegum at PCW, because I think he's brilliant.

It feels weird cheering for him now.

I haven't been back to PCW since quite a while before his face turn, but I do remember seeing him at PCW on a Friday night as a heel then making a surprise appearance as a babyface at FutureShock on the Sunday, and such is his versatility as a performer, I was perfectly happy to cheer him. That and the fact he's ace.

Aye he's top. Two different characters but both believable and easy to get behind or go against.

    Thanks westlondonmist.

Does the Pivotshare platform have a download-for-later option? If the streaming service is as bad as you guys have said, I might just give it a miss. However, seems too good a deal to subscribe instead of purchasing individual titles...

I think you call still download individual shows via RPW's Vimeo service.

Individual titles on Vimeo come to $13 each. Subscription service is less than $9. I'd rather pay the subscription but also be able to view the shows without streaming. Is this not possible?

I don't think so, no. The Pivotshare subscriptions work like Netflix, WWE Network and the like in that the shows are all available but only to stream, not download.

  5. Thanks westlondonmist.

I find the Pivotshare channels I subscribe to (Progress, ICW) work really well via my Roku but not so great via a web browser. If anyone is looking at an ongoing sub to the channels, get a Roku. The original devices are pretty cheap now.

  6. This is also apparently symbolised on the Abbey Road album cover with McCartney wearing no shoes in the middle of the road. Not sure how that relates personally.

Where the fuck has this Urban Legend been hiding all my life?

Paul is the corpse, with no shoes. John is the Priest dressed all in white, Ringo the undertaker in black and George the grave digger in denim.

The front cover of St Peppers has "Beatles" written in flowers, similar to how you see "Mum" or whatever in the back of a hearse. And if you look at the yellow flowers under that, it's in the shape of a bass guitar, with 4 flower stems representing the 4 strings.

    It all adds up.

  7. Uprising 2013 (Prince Devitt vs. Ricochet; Zack Sabre vs. Davey Richards; Noam Dar vs. Michael Elgin; Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Marty Scurll) and Summer Sizzler 2014 (Prince Devitt vs. Adam Cole; Zack Sabre vs. Shinsuke Nakamura; Kevin Steen vs. Marty Scurll) are both absolutely superb events - two of the best shows I've seen anywhere in this country in recent years.

High Stakes 2015 (AJ Styles vs. Will Ospreay) and the Uprising/Global Wars double header from October 2015 are also great abd well worth checking out.

Try to catch the 2 Ospreay vs. Matt Sydal York Hall matches too (from memory Uprising 2014 and Summer Sizzler 2015?) too.

Thanks! Will check them all out.

  8. Reading some of these last few posts has been interesting, as I was planning on signing up tomorrow and starting from Chapter 1

If you've got the time then definitely start from Chapter 1, aye. You get the full story arc as Big Benny HG mentions above. You also get to see the production values shoot up which is interesting if you're into that sort of thing.
