3/4 through the new Shawn Michaels book. It really isnt worth buying or even reading.

 

Nothing really new in the book wrestling wise. Few bits where it could get interesting (occasions where his Bible study group would questions things he did on TV like saying damn and the God angle) but the whole thing is skimmed over.

 

The word Christian is used every 2-3 sentences and an awful lot of references to He and Him. He talks about his wrestling past, but nearly everything is given a biblical meaning. Him being a follower when teaming with Jannetty. His relationships with certain people being part of Gods plan etc.

 

This sentences sums up the tone of the book.

 

 

Being called The Heartbreak Kid, Mr Wrestlemania, and all those other names doesn't even begin to compare to what it feels like to know what the Almighty God who created the universe calls me. His child.

I have fucking sat through the lot of it and it's absolutely fucking horrible viewing. He says "No not really" for 85% of the questions. Doesn't expand on anything. The poor cunt interviewer tries to draw teeth for three hours fifteen minutes and gets nowhere. Kept hoping for even a small nuggets of interesting chat from Dynamite, but nope. Abysmal.

Oh my fucking god, this is painful. One word answers even for open questions. Dynamite is a horrific interview hahaha... Gonna stick with it though...

I always felt the Angle Slam was a thing of beauty and it did get over, but there were times where it got the pin fall and just felt odd, it's a quirk I expected most wouldn't agree with.

 

I'm the biggest Bulldog mark on the planet, but yeah, as his career went on, I felt it became less credible as a finisher in the context of other moves which looked more devastating, but I agree with what your saying about a finisher getting over I.E. The People's Elbow which logically is the stupidest offence in the world, but by fuck it was over.

Aye, but do you not think it's very un-brutal? It's like they just picked it out a hat of regular moves, and because it's a 'finisher' people need to get pinned by it.

 

 

Davey Boy Smith's running power slam. I love Davey Boy, but that finisher was pretty tame.

Are you mad? In Davey's first solo run when he was massive, the impact that powerslam looked like it had was huge. To say nothing of when he first started doing the move in the WWF in the Bulldogs 85-88 run, by comparison, people were winning matches with regular powerslams, sidewalk slams, neckbreakers or (cough) the camel fucking clutch.

Aye, but mid nineties to 2000 you had powerbombs, and stunners, and Rock Bottoms, and Pedigrees, and Goldberg spears, and choke slams, and tombstones and sweet chin music's etc. Test pulled a power slam out his ass most matches for a two count.

The Angle Slam, not a hate, more of a peeve. How is this gonna KO someone anymore than the next suplex?
