Well, the right-wing sources aren't going to do it, are they? And it's a pattern of behaviour that's verifiable.

And, again: even without the left/right divide, the simple fact is that the mainstream media are not doing their bit to hold the government to account.

So, starting from a position of bias, claiming bias of another thing because it doesn't do the 'thing' that the original thing wants is a-ok then?

It's not. It is the exact same baws that Trumpists claimed with fake news, and so forth.

However if the left media and supporters are keen to do the rights job for them by destroying the BBC, as its always the BBC, then carry on listening and regurgitating.

Dont moan when everything is partisanal,  and the population cant trust 'any' news source. Et voila, Cummings et al job is done.

Mainstream Media are holding things to account, its just not being done in the way you want, because it doesnt agree with your news sources view of what is and what should be news according to them.

Pretty piss poor state we find ourself in when opinions floated on the net count more than anything else, because some tweeter or some severly biased sources say it must be so.

It's the very definition of being brainwashed and radicalised via social media.  In older times it'd be akin to getting all of your information ftom the village gossip and taking that as truth opposed to making a sound rational judgement about evidence presented and weigh up the pros and cons of the source.

That we're even having this discussion shows how utterly ridiculous society has become if it is getting het up and bent out of shape by the way news paper headlines are shown on one programme that doesnt have the reach that those people moaning about it think it does.

I suspect the tweet and retweets and embedding reached more than the number of people who a), actually watched the programme and b) thought, 'oh gosh! the BBC have not put the mirror front and centre, they must be biased towards the government for doing that'

Rabid frenzies on social media are fast becoming my most unfavourite things on this planet. They present rumour or misinformation as truth and pump it out to the masses via measures that do not have stringent editorial or impartiality standards and 'everyone' who agrees with position xyz laps it up, regigitates it and furthers that position.

Piss poor state of affairs and not one that is absolved by, doubling down on the same bollocks as if it makes it any more important.

Boris Johnson had an affair, the Mirror brought this to a 'World Exclusive' and the BBC programme has debated it

If you want more from it than that and are 'that' incensed by it, then write to your MP, complain to the police, parliamentary standards do the things someone who really gave a shit about it would rather than getting bent out of shape on Social Media.

    and dont vote Tory, obvs.

Yeah, such conspiracy theorists. It's almost as if they were presenting it as the single latest example in a long-observed pattern of behaviour.

Would that be a long pattern of behaviour pointed out by left leaning or left bias news sources and social media accounts, repeatedly telling those on left that the msm is biased against the left.

I mean, if only there was a word for that type of thing...

  3. Some one on twitter thinks that a paper review, sorry ordering of, paper headlines is example of systemic bias against the left and pro tory, even though as mentioned it was covered any way.

I'm gunna invest in tonfoil if this is the strength of arguement out there condemning an entire organisation based on how it presented a paper review. Fml.

It's  not really the Tories who've been brainwashed or doing the brainwashing g, if left supporters are so far down the Trumpian rabbit hole that they've been conditioned that all msm is biased against them and thus cant be trusted.

    Jesus Christ.

Facebook reporting is a joke. At least on Twitter there tends to be some kind of action taken, I don't think I've ever got a response from Facebook that wasn't "you did the right thing by reporting this, but we're not going to do anything about it", no matter how horrendous the post in question was.

Indeed, there's been a concerted effort to get shit changed with at least 3 groups i know of having meetings with Facebook regarding a number of issues.

However, that's basically pissing in the wind as they have done fuck all.

so, i watched the In Search of the Last Action Heroes documentary yesterday, Really enjoyed, its gave me a few titles to check out but, am also after you guys recommendations you know them films that went straight to VHS. I've over the past couple months been watching a few like the Martial Law series which i thoroughly enjoyed, it also introduced me to Cynthia Rothrock, Jeff Wincott and Matthaius Hues so am hoping to check out more of their films. So, yeah any recommendations from the 80's to 90's or even 2000's Direct to dvd Gems would be much appreciated. Also if you could post any links or where to watch your recommendations that would be awesome as well, i don't want alot do i ha ha

Also in the documentary they said when going to a video store in the early 90's you had the sly and arnie section at the top, seagal and JCVD just underneath and below the direct to vhs action/martial arts films, anyone who got to experience this i really do envy you, this would be my heaven that.

Showdown in Manila may be right up your street if you havent seen it. Was on Prime recently

    Cast list is epic

It's also directed by Mark Dascascos

When you have the leads of Nemesis, Starshitp Troopers, Martial Law, Bloodfistand Double Dragon etc all together you are looking at a bonafide classic.

Actually it's not horrendous and suffers from lack of a budget, however the story works and it was enjoyable to watch

Trevor Peacock has died aged 89. Some laughs watching him on a Saturday night back in the day. RIP x

He was absolutely phenomenal in the 3rd series of Wish Me Luck as Resistance Leader, Renard

There's not much about online, but an over view is here. Has a stella cast throughout and is worth a watch if you fancy it.

    https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2010/jun/04/wish-me-luck-box-set

    RIP

  7. Sin City 2 is an absolute mess with a brilliant cast. Everything good from the original just made horrible.

Ocean's 12 is a complete and utter waste of space too.  Just why..

    Ocean's code is  11,original, 8 surely??

Not having Setec Astronomy being besmirched here though, it's superb.

As others have said more eloquently, brilliant story telling and a style of film very seldom seen in Hollywood any more. My name is my password, verify.

I've been playing a bit of that RetroMania Wrestling and it's really not clicking with me at all, it's FirePro based timing with the grapples which I'd be ok with if I wanted to play FirePro and not a "sequel" to Wrestlefest. The timing just doesn't feel right either, I'll give a it some more time but along with the poor roster I don't think it's a game I'll be coming back to much.

That was my big fear, it didn't feel right from the demos and things. not so bothered about the rosters but it's not sold itself in playability terms at all.

Whose Line did a voiceover round with Josie Lawrence and, probably Steve Frost overdubbing Trumpton that had a similar 'bag of chips' theme.

Street Fighter 2 turned 30 this past weekend.

Jesus, can still remember the first time I saw that at Exeter Services in late 1991. Had one go was shite and a love affair was born.

I'm currently retro F1 and other racers. Been playing a heck of alot of F1 2011 on PS3 and also just started F1 2000 on PS1 which has the old time in-vis graphics I miss. Are there any great F1 Championship CO-OP games or indeed any great Co-op racers I've missed or should consider.  Have got Toca 2, Toca World,  Motorstorm etc up and running and Flat Out and one of the Burnout's on PS2 but would need to set that up again. Anything I should really check out?  that is not a cart style game?

  11. Have any of you lovely people done a newco to charity? I'm looking for some advice as though I get what needs to be done, I am not sure how to go about it. The newco has yet to be set up, but will be shortly and then needs a fairly rapid conversion to a charity when operational.  Many Thanks in Advance

  12. Had a blinding Xmas

Parents got a minty mint Takara Smokescreen from somewhere. Not a mark on it.

Watched the latest Netflix Earthrise, despite all of the promise, it was quite underwhelming and seems to be rehashing the movie, again. shame as there was some good bits, especially when there was some action around a planet that harks back to G1 and a welcome surprise and also the purge on cybertron was bleak as anything as well.

I have a flight booked for February, to move back to the UK. Jersey is in a common travel area, rather than a travel corridor, so might be affected and might not be, because no one knows what the fucking difference is.

Is this you moving in with the other half? If so congrats!. Hopefully things regarding corridors and the rest can be sorted (moving was/is allowed under exceptions I thought?)

I’m coming from my time working for a HIV charity. All I heard from older service users was how it increased being isolated and feared, and lead to increased physical attacks. It also lead to heterosexual men with HIV being beaten up because they must have really been gay.

They lead to ostracising people with HIV and charities regarding funding because it was seen as a dirty seedy disease that affected deviants. These ads reinforced that narrative. It lead to increased fear and didn’t do much for awareness. At least that’s my experience but I accept others have different ones.

I can remember the ostracisation well, even still in early 1990's from that. There was a lad playing quasar who volunteered he'd got HIV before a game of Quasar laser, in Weston and the look of sheer repulusion and horror on people's faces will stay with me. Everyone 'didnt' want to be on his team. It was awful.

It's interesting to read about older generation people as for a while they were in the main straight and LGBTQ the highest amount of HIV/AIDS sufferers, especially amongst those who have though they have had kids and do not need protection any more there was a massive rise in the mid 2000's https://www.gmjournal.co.uk/hiv-in-the-ageing-population

    Quote

The proportion of adults accessing HIV services who were above the age of 50 rose from 12% in 2002 to 22% in 2011.7 Worryingly, the number of older adults being diagnosed late, after HAART should have been commenced, is disproportionately high; 61% in over 50s versus 45% in those younger than 50 years.7 It is well established that late diagnosis is associated with increased morbidity and mortality8 and a poorer response to HAART.9

    Challenging misconceptions, perceptions and attitudes

The reasons for the trend towards late diagnosis in the over 50s are not clear but are likely to do with the fact that HIV prevention, counselling, testing, and education efforts are largely directed at the younger generation. This may be because widely-held societal beliefs are that after the age of 50 years, people become either sexually inactive or are in monogamous heterosexual relationships.

Since then  Chemsex, https://www.aidsmap.com/news/may-2018/gay-men-having-chemsex-are-five-times-more-likely-have-new-hiv-diagnosis-other-gay is having a huge impact as is the over reliance on PrEP etc to manage the condition and the feeling among the younger generation that they are invincible and as such arent as 'scared' of it, which is bonkers.

It is important though that the stigma of HIV/Aids as an LGBTQ disease is smashed as in the latest figures I have only 41% are M2M or Bi https://www.tht.org.uk/hiv-and-sexual-health/about-hiv/hiv-statistics#:~:text=The most recent estimate suggests, know they are HIV positive.

In short, if you have a new partner, irrespective, take precautions, get tested before a new relationship and so on https://www.bustle.com/p/heres-how-to-talk-to-a-new-partner-about-sexual-health-according-to-experts-18805522

Can't remember exactly when it was or who it was, and it was when pat didn't seem to be around. About a couple of years ago, he said he was getting us shut down because everyone was mean to pat. How did that work out for him.

TIL the above.  I never had a clue as took a year or so off from here. How very strange it is being 'White Knighted' on a wrestling forum when I am not even around. Bizarre.

Its also mad given the number of empty Hotels that sit empty (hell so many other venues are empty at the moment)

We also have Nightingale hospitals that are just sat there not being used which can be being used to help.

Homelessness shouldn't be happening in the UK anyway in this day and age. Pisses me off no end.

It is shite that people are either on the streets or have no home to call their own. Alas just throwing people in hotels, hostels or whatever else doesnt solve the ' homelessness problem' nor does it make things ' go away'. People on the streets by and large have multiple complex needs, and in some cases will utterly reject 'homes' because they are away from their friends or lives and the rest have no idea how to live in a home, due to budgetary or mental health or a myriad of other factors including stuff like being taught to budget, claim benefits or even pay bills and do shopping. That's before getting to the dealing with anything else such as substance misuse l, Shelter and a few others have had this right by providing flats with a complex care centre on site and not requiring all kinds of conditions and curfews etc, but they are few and far between.

Doing a Homelessness Count more than one fucking day a year would also be amazing as we;d get to know how severe the problem was rather than trying to fight things after the event with no bastard resources.

Helping in your own are can be as simple as knowing when SWEP protocols have been activated (Severe Weather) and knowing where people can go, can they take their animals with them if they have them, what's curfew etc. then pass that on if you see it when out, ditto with any food kitchens and so on, can be a massive help to newly homeless or even those who didnt know.

Everyone IN hasnt been extended during this lockdown and those who are not street homeless now can find themselves fucked very quickly.

Some services will give free top up mobiles which can be a massive help ditto banks like HSBC who can do accounts for homeless with bugger all proof of ID,
