  1. I turn 40 eight days before the event, so a BIG holiday has been talked about to celebrate this fact. And genuinely would take a fortnight away over this event but talking about this with my wife the other day, and just now discussing potentially paying for the hotel. She tells me she's put us down for the pre sale tickets, without my knowledge. I'm genuinely touched by the thought behind that, primarily because of how much she loathes wrestling. I'm obviously no WWE fan boy these days, so to know she's paid attention enough to this new(ish) brand, which, let's be honest has little exposure over here... again, rather touched by it. I should say, by no stretch does this guarantee us going, nor does it definitively say we're getting tickets, but what a bloody keeper she is.

Does anyone have any info or relevant info as to what kind of pricing can be expected for this? I'm guessing the amounts won't be (I hope at least) reaching the hundreds per ticket mark, surely?

Should add, we'll stretch the budget to do both. Pay the extra to give her the holiday too, if she's good enough to sit through a wrestling event. Seems, only fair.

  2.

Back in the early 90's of peak fandom, me and my cousin (on the school field) during break/dinner time would put on our impromptu -5 star classics, me as Bret and him as Tatanka. This would have been year 5 (ish). Didn't take long for others to copy and subsequently all school wrestling got banned.

A few years later in secondary school (year 10), the next peak era, we started dabbling with some after school shenanigans of a case or two of the old ESP stubby bottles (there were a handful of us), and me and my other wrestling loving mate were a tad tipsy. The previous weekend KotR '98 had just aired, there was a sports utility out house at our school (our designated drinking spot!), Roughly 10 feet high I'd say. We were giving it the big 'un of we could do what Mankind did in the cell, boozed up we ascended the building and looked down. Yeah, instant regret, neither of us wanting to be the first to back out so we both timidly jumped off landing and rolling rather safely! No wonder kids get in serious injury scenarios when young!

Then fast forward a year to year 11. Due to our boozy antics on Friday evenings we'd ingratiated ourselves with the 'cool kids' for the final two years of school, so we were one big amalgamation of a group of 15-16 year old lads. For some unknown reason, myself and one of said 'cool kids' decided we were gonna get into some 'shoot' style wrestling every break time. Us probably thinking we were Shamrock/Severn but probably looking more like a slightly homoerotic artsy display of nothingness! This lasted for several weeks!

I've always been pretty strong too, so would take great delight in suplexing, tombstone piledriving and body slamming the fat(ter) kids to impress the ladies. Yeah, it didn't work!

Senile Vince would totally go "Roman needs to go to 1,000 days pal" and "let's give those Saudis the big title change"

At no point had I ever considered Cody wasn't going to win, until that notion...

Luckily I'm not invested in the company to be let down, but of all the scenarios which potentially points to a win for Roman, surely that feel good factor happening in Saudi is as close to a spanner in the works as is likely to be. Especially if Vinnie wants to sell the whole lot to the scummy fuckers

Absolute braindead idiots like this deserve wrestling in front of 50 people. I know the deathmatch posse are gonna jump on me, but honestly, for fuck sake.

Khan must be delighted to only have to deal with eddies bullshit for a day a month going forward. Fuck me he gets more unlikeable every week with his moaning, 2 years back he was selling his boots to pay the bills, now he’s on 100k plus a year to work a day a week. My heart bleeds, maybe put in a bit of effort than moaning non stop and you get the trust top guys get.

So while I agree in principle with the opinion on Kingston. I think the bloke is a menace to any locker room, the fact (as has been mentioned) he is in his 40s. The common denominator through the years of his lack of 'success' or main stream exposure unfortunately Eddie, is you. That speaks volumes about what he must be like. That being said, the video that leaked/part of one of those Young Bucks backstage video programme things online of him being a general good guy, coaching and rallying people (perhaps in relation to Brodie Lee's death, IIRC) was very impressive. So i'm sure there is good in him, most people do genuinely have good in them, but unfortunately he is seemingly quite a cancerous influence backstage.

I'm digressing from what my differing opinion is though, and that is that I don't suddenly buy that being suddenly wealthy should make him be a good human, or happy or whatever. Money isn't the access to happiness that others would tell us otherwise. The Fact is, he has some demons (whatever they may be) which constantly leads him back to self implosion. Adding money to that mindset won't cure him, or anyone for that matter. Through whatever channels he needs to go towards, he needs to find it and stick to it to try to 'fix' himself.

Let's also not forget after the slanging match between him and Sammy last year, his first appearance after the episode was to basically mock the decision on air, to take him away and send him to (I want to say anger management counselling). A childish, petulant way of dealing with an issue. And personally if I was Sniff, i'd have had him straight off TV again, because he quite clearly hadn't learnt anything.

So in closing, Eddie the human - I hope he gets the help he needs (as mentioned above, he seems to have good inside him). However, Eddie Kingston on my TV screen being rewarded for his childish, petulant behaviour? Get the fuck to ROH so I don't have to see your bullshit behaviour.
Punk was fucked off (one of my favourites of yesteryear), and for very good reason. A point I made several weeks ago, just because he has the online brownie points he shouldn't be pandered to by anyone. Not saying you were pandering to him Louch, I know you weren't, it was more a statement to the troglodytes online.

It was briefly WWFE on all Sky TV listings as well, for maybe a week or two, didn't realise they'd ever said the name out loud though

Maybe this is just my brain misremembering, but I seem to recall it being called WWFE on channel guides and what not for several months. Of course they may have been treading water in anticipation of potentially losing the 'F', but as we didn't have the internet til later that year I had no idea of the behind the scenes court case going on. So I found it really quite strange, and just put it down to a non wresling fan in charge of the listings.

  7. So I don't want this to resort into "Tempus Fugit", Peter Kay stand up routine.. "remember when..." style post, but I was thinking you'd stop doing these once you got to, say, 2000. Purely for the reasons of "it only happened the other year" type scenario. So have been a bit befuddled seeing you continue with them. And it's only just now hit me, even at your current time frame (2002), it was 21 bloody years ago. And although I am almost upon this, it's still counts as more than half my life ago! Bizarre how something so fresh in the memory, legitimately falls under the nostalgic, old as all fuckery, umbrella.

I should add, under no circumstances do I want you stopping these. And hope long may you continue. It was more of an observation.

  8. In reference to Eddie, and I'm a fan of his too but, these problems that have occurred over the last 12 - 18 months or so, do all seem to have one common denominator. And that's Kingston himself.

If the guy needs help, then he needs help. But somebody should be recognising this and putting him in the best place possible.

I'm not intending for this to create a sidebar discussion but where this, say a CM Punk or someone of that ilk, we'd all be jumping on them as being pricks. Eddie's stock shouldn't give him a pass, as talented as he is. Once or twice blowing up in a blue moon, hey, shit happens. But his name seems to fairly regularly linked to some shit storm or another.

Work or not, I hope he focuses on himself because the guy is one hell of a talented dude. Be a shame for him to not realise his potential based on a short fuse (regardless of the what, why's and when's).

  9. So I am, as I've mentioned numerous occasions on here, really not interested in WWE anymore (well, current stuff anyway). I stopped watching completely during the no fans era, which I felt highlighted even more how stale and shite it all was. The thunderdome thing wasn't my cup of tea either, for one reason or another. I watched one of the Reigns/Uso title matches (I think the HiaC one), and despite rave reviews, personally considered it a drab affair. Couple with WWE's propensity over the last decade or more of more often than not making the worst decisions possible when moving their stories on, I just wasn't interested to watch or follow the bloodline stuff because, well, it all goes to shit eventually. It was predominantly the WWE way.

So anyway, fast forward to Sunday, and realising there was a fresh ppv. Having still got the network (older content my only want) I decided to watch it. And holy crap, that last 20 minutes or whatever it was was insanely good. Bare in mind, I have no context to anything that preceded that moment, other than a comment or two on here over the weeks and months of its duration. But living in a bubble, I have essentially watched that ending cold/blind and the performances of everyone in that little spell was beyond wrestling. It bordered on proper acting and not just shitty wrestler acting. I knew nothing, but everyone involved was able to tell me the entire previous 6 - 12 month period by their actions, acting and manuerisms (sp?!). 100 % part of the reason I was and am a fan of wrestling. Massive congratulations to everyone involved.

I am still at a point where I'm probably not too interested in watching the next several weeks (even the EC), but for the first time in 4 years I'm actually quite looking forward to WrestleMania. Whoever has their fingerprints on this, deserves every bit of praise and accolade going.

As an aside, Kevin Owens and whoever greenlit it needs to be fined a months wages... Bumps like that on the metal ring steps, have a fucking word with yourselves you utter idiots.

But again, I've not said this probably for getting on a decade but... Well done WWE.

  10. I'm certain this is low on anyone at WWE's totem pole at present, but is there any news on the Broken Skull Sessions show on the network? After the Charlotte episode in August, I've not heard anything. I could have swore there was a full slate of guests set out for the entirety of 2022 (roughly released/shown this time last year). The only thing I can think is he got a taster of the wrestling bug last year and has been in secret training for a limited run (a la Edge, three years ago). Absolute bullshit speculation on my part though, obviously!

  11. Has anyone got any info on shipping costs from Ringside Collectibles, and what i'm likely to pay on the retro's wave 1 pack, please?

I've recently got back into trying to pick these up and bought several more from the previous releases to fill in some of the blanks. Want to try to stay ahead of these newer releases this time

I can't believe a company would actually allow something like that to be on display! What absolute knobheads.

My hairdressers have similar put up, but it ends with '...but it helps!'.

Shame really, cos they do a bloody good job of my hair.

Its weird how I remember the consoles so vividly.

I think this must have been the one where my parents made me open presents in order at Christmas and I opened a SNES game and they were like oh is that the one you wanted.. knowing full well I only had a Gameboy and so it was the wrong bloody type of game.

The same thing happened with me too. The exact console too, must have been some underground fight club style SNES forum for the parents to dupe their kids.

I remember opening (I wanna say it was F-Zero) and my Dad giving my Mam 'daggers' cos she'd "bought a game for the wrong console". Lo and behold, I opened the SNES last and they had a chuckle to themselves!

  14. So, I've just found out about Letterkenny. Not too far behind (11 seasons!) with the programme.

Gotta say, I love it. The word play/script is brilliant in it.

    Hard yes!

  15. I've just remembered another... So not sure which she was on - 'Going Live' or 'Motormouth', but damn did I have a thing for Sarah Greene. And then Ghost Watch came along for Halloween '92 and I was completely sold.

Then finding out she was married to Mike f'n Smith. Even at 9 years old I understood the mood of outrage!

  16. Can't say I recall Sharon Davies being a gladiator. But I recall Lightning being ok as well, not a patch on Jet mind you. On the subject of Lightning, she did some sort of signing at the height of the Gladiators craze in my home town. I didn't go but a friend of a friend went and he bragged that he'd given her a proper snog. Completely did not believe it, until he showed us a photo two weeks later (film development time!), and in that little snapshot it did look like he was telling the truth but when you factor in its a quick one off pic, the angle was inconclusive, there would have been quite a line of people waiting for a signature and oh yeah I was 10-11 at the time and he was a year younger so I highly doubt it was exactly how he says it was. I don't think Lightning was prepared to potentially out herself in front of a load of watching eyes too!

I don't think I have many new ones to add to who has already been mentioned. The likes of Jet, Kylie (who I believe was my first celeb crush), Janine Melnitz (cartoon version) Clarissa explains it all/Sabrina. But I remember watching Labyrinth about 1991 ish, and oh my God, Jennifer Connelly was too cute. In the days before on screen TV guides and the internet it took me ages to realise/find out her name. Probably had to wait a year til the film was repeated on TV.

Will vouch for this, I had a 100GB of data on a £15 /m plan. Internet connection was always spot on with it, even when going through the countryside, streaming a game or whatnot

Not seen this, that sounds brilliant. Not a massive fan of scripted wrestling humour, find it to be too forced and/or obvious punchline stuff. But that, that sounds a touch on the cleverer side!

It can't have been. They didn't exist in England then.

Sky Box Office showed the C4 PPV's in 2002 they had shown in 2000-01. The other PPV's I think were just on regular Sky Sports.

Yeah, I'd agree with this too. I can't recall the specifics for Rumble '02 (I did watch it though), but definitely remember Backlash '02 being Box Office. It was the first ever PPV to incorporate the new, first time ever brand split concept. Sure it opened with Kidman and ?Tajiri? for the cruiserweight Title.
