Yeah I've had it. For me it overpowers the pie and the mash. Each to their own.

That's interesting, I find it compliments it rather than overpowers it. I find it quite a subtle flavour personally.

Northerners or Southerners (sane ones) unite over this.

Anyone choosing parsley liquor over gravy deserves that to be their last meal to be honest.

    It's vile.

It's a matter of taste at the end of the day. At least you've actually tried it. If you don't like it then fair enough.

If we're talking about people who deserve a last meal, it's people who say they 'don't like' something despite having never even tried it before.

A nice pie with mash is a lovely combination. Us Northerners usually eat it with a good gravy and veg though.

Eating it with fucking parsley liquor and jellied eels though, insert Clint Eastwood looking disgusted gif.

We'll have to beg to differ there. To be pedantic, it's stewed eels not jellied eels (you have them as a side dish if you feel inclined). I like a steak pie with gravy though when it comes to traditional pie and mash I stick with the liquor.

  4. Honestly, it tastes better than it looks! I go to White's pie and mash shop in Walton on the Naze quite often. Not sure if they have any execution facilities nearby though.

All joking apart, it is my favourite meal closely followed by a massive mixed grill.

  5. Loved Spartacus, I used to go around saying "Jupiter's cock" whenever something annoyed me or made me angry. I'll definitely be watching though I'm intrigued to see how they'll bring Ashur back.

How? He seemed perfect to me.

He was incredible as Savile, probably the most accurate biopic acting I've ever seen. The show was a bit boring though, should have been a film or something.

For some reason I just couldn't picture him as Savile. You're absolutely right, he was incredible, a superb performance. I imagine it's difficult to play someone like that but he absolutely nailed it as I said.

Started watching that Steve Coogan/Jimmy Savile thing today. Coogan is great in it.

When I first heard that Steve Coogan would be playing Savile I just couldn't see it. Having watched it though, he absolutely nailed it and it was so convincing in the role you could almost believe it was Jimmy Savile himself.

Overall I thought it was very well done though uncomfortable to watch at times. Though I was expecting it to be given the subject matter.

Could it have been? What do you know about the security of the event to be able to confidently claim that? For example there's less reason for super tight stage security if they are absolutely certain there's no weapons in the room.

Fair point. Just seems somewhat lax that someone could reach the speaker so easily. Even if they were certain there was no weapons, he still could've been assaulted.

The language is what makes it. Hopper is utterly goading Walken and he knows what buttons to press

Absolutely, he knew they would kill him no matter what he said so he decided to rile them as much as he could before the inevitable happened. Walken's performance was genius here as even though he was laughing along you can tell he's quietly seething.

"I haven't killed anybody since 1984". Pure quality.

  10. There's a shop near me that sells different drinks that you don't find in most places. I've really taken to A&W cream soda, can't get enough of the stuff. Best cream soda I've ever had. Their Root Beer is quite nice as well.

Wiped a tear away  watching the end of the new series of The Righteous Genstones. What an amazing programme it is. Season 4 has a lot to live upto as that ending was perfect.

It really was superb. I thought after watching it that it would be the perfect way to end the series, with everyone putting aside their differences and coming together at the end.

Season 4 should be interesting as they basically have to start again in terms of where the characters are. We can't have a season where everyone gets along surely?

Needs more Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers.

  12. Having had a bit of time to think about all this, I'll have to admit defeat on this one.

As has been pointed out to me, they weren't punished for their personal views, rather for how they behaved in public and in their place of work, which was very stupid of them.

Suppliers etc certainly have every right to choose who they do business with so I'll happily eat humble pie on that one as well.

Looking back, I should have given it all some more thought before contributing to the discussion. I'll be more mindful of this in future.

  13. Just to clarify guys, I just think its a slippery slope to go down when honest people (presumably) are hounded out of their livelihood. You clearly disagree and that's fine.

If we're going down the road of sacking people from their jobs/businesses because we don't like their personal views then where does that lead us?

Not having a pop, I'm genuinely interested in what you guys have to say.

I certainly wouldn't have celebrated Kristallnacht at all mate.
