  1. Slash is releasing his album one track a day over Facebook. Some really good tracks on there. "Standing In The Sun" and "No More Heroes" are both belters! My least favourite is "One Last Thrill". It's just too messy vocally in the verses!I've linked the direct link to the songs below for you guys without Facebook.Apocalyptic LoveOne Last ThrillStanding In The SunNo More Heroes

has the fan pack been released yet?
Released on the 22nd. Apparently it's only these 5 that are getting released on Facebook. Gutted, because I really want to hear more of "Not For Me".
  2. I've watched the Slash live in Stoke DVD and I thought there was loads of parts (in-particular during the GNR tracks) where Myles was fucking terrible.

Yeah but your nose is firmly up Axl's hoop. You would think that...*

    *AKA Bait not taken. :p

It's not bait, just a fact.

Stating opinions as fact now, eh? You're getting as bad as that Numbers loon!

  3. i think the 'cat on helium' thing nails it for me.

He's quite clearly a talented singer, when he sings slower tunes and sings in the lower voice it's fine, the problem is when he really opens up, ahhhhh it's annoying.

Outwith Alter Bridge I think he excels with the high notes. On Alter Bridge albums (especially the last two, produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette" all the production is effects, effects, loudness, effects, loudness. His voice gets lost in the mix.

His Mayfield 4 stuff is good for his higher register. Some great high notes that he hits.

  5. Myles Kennedy has been very hit and miss lately.

His constant touring hasn't helped. In Glasgow he was a bit off the boil. Assuming he was saving his voice for the big London date. But in London, live, he sounded outstanding.

Also in Alter Bridge he is distracted by the guitar. Apart from the first 2/3 gigs with Slash, I don't think I have heard Myles Kennedy have a bad Slash gig.

Myles Kennedy also suffers sometimes from what I like to call "Cat on helium in pain" syndrome. Which is that annoying screechy tone he sings in sometimes!

  6. You do have the Moorings which might be my favourite pub ever. I used to go out with a girl from the 'deen who introduced me to it and I immediately fell in love with the awesome combination of great jukebox and epic beer selection. I also went to Korova a few times, but yeah that was pretty gash. Cheap though!

Moorings is fine, but always packed. Korova is god awful but really the only option for a rock night nowadays since Bassment and Warehouse closed. Unless you count the Tunnels, which I really don't. Sadly parenthood has put a stifle on many nights out of any kind now so it's really a moot point.

Didn't realise you were one for the Urban tunes!

Opium is where we used to go when we were underage.

Korova is where I frequent now though. It isn't THAT bad tbh... I've been in worse!

There was an Opium in Aberdeen? Must have passed me by.

Yeah. It was the Bridge Street part of Korova.

Ahhhhh fair play. I was talking about the one in Edinburgh. 3 floors of differing genres of rock every night. Couldn't really beat it. Rock karaoke was the best, some dick would always do Tribute, and it was usually me. Good times.

Gutted. Sounds like a good place! To have somewhere like that here!

  9. Worth noting that Guns N Roses are playing a gig in Dublin on May 17th.

    As well as

    Paris-Bercy: June 5

    Lyon: June 10

    Strasbourg: June 11

    Toulouse: June 14

    Montpelier: June 18

    Toulon: June 19

    Milan: June 22

I'd be very surprised if the don't end up being one of the Sonisphere headliners.

    If so... you going?

Can't believe they play Dublin on a fucking Thursday!

I'll wait and see. I'd prefer to go see them a couple of times at their own gigs than at a festival. So Ill be holding off until any further dates are announced before I decide.

I do fancy Dublin though. It was a cracking trip to see AC/DC a couple of years back.

When I was told they were playing Dublin, I was up for it. As soon as I discovred that the 17th was a Thursday I changed my mind. Damn lack of holidays!

  11. Dan Catullo (Director) has released a teaser song for the new upcoming Alter Bridge Film; "Live At Wembley".

It's Couer D'Alene which is one of my favourite songs I have ever seen live. The only time I have seen it live incidentally is when I went to see Alter Bridge at Wembley. Great tune. Love that riff!

Cannot wait for this DVD, based on this tease (Coeur D'Alene is in my top 3 AB songs)...the whole gig should sound amazing.

    It did in person...

  13. Good chance I will be heading to Download if it can be afforded. My brother wants to go see Metallica and Black Sabbath.

However, depending on finances. I am going to wait for more bands to be announced.

3 sub headliners and 11 other bands announced this coming Monday.

    It's bloody expensive this time!

  15. Haven't read any spoilers so don't even know if it's live or not, but was thinking of chancing my arm in chat tonight for Raw. Anybody likely to be kicking about or have I just confessed to potentially the saddest boxing day plan on the forum?

I was gonna ask the same thing. Tonight is one of the few chances I'll get to watch Raw live and join in on chat.

    I should be in.

For fucks sake! All we need is King Troll in the Chat tonight. Urgh!

  16. 2) Christmas party, after the function, outside the hotel, someone picked up the sandwiches and sausage rolls from the buffet inside and started lobbing them at me. I'm pretty sure it was martyngnr. So I pick them up and think, "Well, I'm not gonna take this" and lob them back. Only to miss him and hit some guy who was sitting inside a car parked next to the hotel enterance. If only he had his window rolled up. Got a right bollocking and being young and being in my first job and this happening in front of "superiors" in which case, the instigator of such activites was one, I felt very embarrassed and immature.

It was me. What a terrible manager I was.

That was hilarious. The guy was going fucking bananas!

Was that the year the bar woman couldn't be arsed pouring 6 shots, so she put three shots each in two glasses?

That was a good night! It ended with me going to my mates house with a crate of beer for the boxing. Getting there, dropping off the beer, falling asleep, waking up and then going home and watching the fight at home. Sigh, what a mess!

  17. Jeezo, I'm a boring bastard who has lived no life.

    The only lowest points I can think of are;

    1) Being a cowardous bastard letting myself get the run around by a woman for three years of my life.

    3) Supporting Aberdeen.

So there it goes guys... I'm one crazy, weird mofo!

Sorted that one for you ;)

Pfft. Number 3 would be the Cup Semi against QOTS. I was so gobsmacked that I didn't say a word to my dad or brother all the way back to Aberdeen.

But supporting Aberdeen isn't a low point. I find solace in the fact that I support a team with at least a little bit of a successful history.
